- Fluid art inspirational video! I’ve got the recipe for the translucent pearls dialed in and would love to share it with you. I really love this painting, it has a sort of misty feel with the white lacing. Let me know what you think, I’m also super excited about these custom frames that I will hopefully be able to bring to you all!
Translucent basecoat recipe
(Based on volume not weight)
1 part floetrol
1 part Behr 7300
.25 part GAC800 or Golden pouring medium
.25 part Liquitex pouring medium
(Optional) A few drops Zinsser water based paint booster
Add water to bring to a milk consistency

Another stunning piece. I particularly liked when you began to use the light blue, in your dry brush work. That gave it added definition and accented the movement in the composition. Take great care.

This, Sara, is just levels above anything I’ve ever seen in the fluid art world. So much detail and every line is perfectly placed.
I have a new favourite . I love the soft effect that the translucent layer creates, some areas look like a butterfly wing under a microscope. I just can’t wait to see more of this technique Sara.

I am very excited by this translucent pearl recipe, the laying down of a light wash of paint beforehand, and the effects. I always had trouble getting the white pearl base just right - either too thin or too thick or wrong paint. Can't wait to try it when the weather cools down here in So. Cal and I get do fluid art without the paint drying too fast and cracking in my outside, non-AC paint room.

@@SaraTaylor Honey there is nothing I’d love to do more, but my 92 yr old mom lives with me & I’m her caregiver. My 2 daughters just had babies 24 hrs apart and they will both be back to work by then. I’m trying to figure out how I could swing it…..

When I heard that you were teaching this year, I was so sad that I couldn’t make it to the convention this year. Since you asked for comments: this painting makes me think of an eel swimming through a forest of lacy kelp. I usually don’t see magical creation in fluid art but this time I did.
