Buy a protege that's in good shape. Cant just get a regular one. The whole car in general is amazing. It had the short three shifter, and the sexy turbski. Best car I've ever owned

I picked up a 99 Protege DX cheap at a dealership. It had 42K miles on it and runs great. I bought it so I wouldn't put miles commuting in my CTS-V but it is a really fun car to drive and I might just start putting a few mods in it...
Its Tuner heaven lol there are Full Turbo Kits out there, Headers, Intakes, High Flow Catalytic Converters, Catback Exhuasts have fun

What are your RPM's at 75mph in 5th gear? Mine are at 3 1/2 just wanna know if that's ok
My hit 120
It's normal. 5th gear is pretty high. I guess it was made for passing without dropping a gear. Also it is a sign from the times, because many economy cars made those years had high gears for highway. Mine sits at 3100 at 65 which is the highway speed limit here mostly. Drawback is you have to be more careful about having an eye on your oil maintenance

CHRISTOPHER funny about that, ive just bought one and it dosent fit. Its too long for the hatch. Taking it to an exhaust shop to get it shortened. Idk, maybe its the Australian models or my towbar or something

It's a turbo charger. This is a Mazda speed protege, meaning it has an upgraded 2.0L engine

Hey bro, clean car! I also own a MSP and just a tip, that flutter sounds allot like compression surge coming from your intake, which is not good for your turbo, if your blowing out white smoke out your exaust it's possible the compression surge is frying your turbo seals! GET A RECIRULATING VALVE if you don't already have one..

what blow off valve is that?
It's actually the stock blow off valve, it has a Injen cold air intake which is what makes the valve so loud. :)

PNW Project it’s not so much that they were cheaply built, it’s more so the fact that mazda put together the MSP blueprint together so quickly resulting in an overwhelmingly temperamental yet extremely rewarding vehicle. How’s she running, beings it’s been a year since ya shot this video.
