I grew up before Title IX. I loved to play basketball. I think it s a game of intellectual and physical skills as well as beauty and Grace. For too long now women’s basketball has become a game of can beat up their opponents without getting caught or who can trash talk their opponents into ruining their game. I loved watching Caitlyn Clark and her Iowa team. Those ladies showed intellectual and physical skill, beauty and grace. Some many teams are playing like thugs in sports today.

@dangaynhsblitzkrieg4799 she has had her moments over the years but still a talented young lady who brings fun and enjoyment back to the game. Didn't say she doesn't trash talk some. She will admit they all do in high emotional moments of any game but she walks off the court and addresses the respect toward others both on her team and opponents.

THIS!! Why can't people see the distinction between a great individual player and a great team? She is the best of the best -- but when she does a great pass she can't make her teammate make the basket. She can't make them do better defense and prevent the other team from scoring. She's just one team member and she can't possibly be everywhere on the court all the time.

As an amateur baller, Caitlin Clark is the only repeat winner ('23-'24) of the James E Sullivan award in its 94-year existence. CC did not win a college basketball championship. All of the haters, except B Stewart, did not win the James E Sullivan, which matters most in Collegiate sports.

Sorry, Rebecca Lobo, but none of the names you mentioned (including yours) drew more eyeballs to the women's game than CC's has. Basketball is a team game, and pro ball is meant to entertain. If your talent, however great you think it is, doesn't make for fun watching, and doesn't draw eyeballs to the game, then it's pointless to even discuss it.

Shaquille Oneal went on record saying that CC is the best womens college basketball player ever! Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith started with the "what about ...................?" "what about .................?" " what about ...................?" all of which were black players as predicted! Then Shaq said, "I SAID WHAT I SAID!"

    • @hearts237
      @hearts237 5 місяців тому

And the rest were correct. Shaq is playing to the masses. Any of those other women named could and did out ball CC. The difference is skin tone and lack of respect given. Most white fans won't admit the toxicity you all put Clarke in. You man and continue to make this about. From the most white people found a new front man for the sport, you began creating and spreading a race driven bigoted campaign against all athletes, not white. You can't call Iowa girls' debutantes and their competition classless. There are plenty of WNBA players putting up stats on par with Caitlin. Again, you all are only looking at the white. Stop the BS. CC's are a bunch of racist hiding behind other attacking their racism.

Any who says CC is the greatest may as well wear a shirt advertising that they know nothing about women's basketball, have never followed it, have never actually seen CC play, and have been given their opinon by the media supported by carefully selected highlights. i've been watching and coaching women's ball for 30 years and I can tell you she is not a top ten all time college player, let alone Pro's, but she is the first beneficiary of an all out MS media and SM blitz designed to make her a star. They want to sell tickets, merch and tv ads, and they never realized until last year they had to market stars. Paige started it by being the first HS or college female on the cover of Slam and getting millions of views on UA-cam and having more SM followers than the top 5 WNBA stars BEFORE she palyed a minutes in college. NIL kicked in and it was off. They realized how many more eyes were on the game as Paige won POY and then her performance in one the greatest ganes ever played against NC State as a sophomore to earn a FF birth, ratings soared and it was finally understood....like the NBA...you have to market stars. Last year Paige was out, so they needed someone, and CC was the logical candidate because she put up big numbers and that's all the "new" casual fans they were capable of understanding. "Most points" seems like best player to the ignorant new observer. Going into this year, CC was chasing a scoring record, which itself is catnip to media and casual fans, so they went all in. It was easy, especially since they weren't sure Paige was going to be so great coming off major surgery and missing over 1.5 years of playing. Advanced
Metrics and value metrics tell a very different story, one that aligns perfectly to the eye test if you actually watch the GAMES and not just highlights, and also recognize that defense is actually half the game and when one player is absolutely elite( Bueckers) and the other is a dumpster fire( CC), that matters...a lot.

It is true, everyone dreams to win a national championship, but it takes a team to do that. These ring bearers to me come off a bit arrogant in that they are almost suggesting it was them individually that won their championship ring. I know they did not say that specifically, but it seems it is implied in the way they speak. To me, it disrespects the other players in their championship winning team.
How often does someone win MVP and not win the title for that year? Does that mean no ring that year, then you can't be MVP? One is about individual achievement and the other about team achievement.

All the players you mentioned that won a collage championship ring. In the way they have spoken they would seem to say they are all better than her, but how do their individual college playing stats compare to Clark? Their scoring, their rebounds, their assists, shooting percentages. I really like to see those factual comparisons made. Even shown graphically.
If Clark's stats are better than theirs and they were successful pros, doesn't it stand to reason that most likely Clark will have success to. And if she can find herself surrounded by the right team mates perhaps even a national title.

    J. Williams is who. That’s the one who is a nobody so ungreatful. He got noticed for hating the greatness of Caitlin Clark who broke all the records all records in the NCAA DIVISION I scoring, rebound & assist!!

How many of these championships players that were on championship teams with other championship players would have been able to lift average players on an average team to the level the Hawkeyes went to with Clark being on that team? I believe that her leadership lifted those players which lifted the team to where they ended up. If you don’t a leader to motivate you you’re not going anywhere. You need that spark, and I believe caitlin brought it.

CC's talent is above all of theirs college not so far in the pros but she's learning the game watch out and it don't matter about the championship she won the one record that dwarfs the college basketball national championship she is the all-time points scorer that says a lot with her supporting cast but I can't wait to see what she does against the Olympic team I hope they put all the women that got snubbed by the Olympic team out there That's going to be interesting to see what if

If some of the uconn ladies want to say that CC, she is not a great player, they can if they want to say that she's not the goat, they can see that too, but she has raised. The stakes for how women's games are gonna be looked at and played from this point forward. There are a lot of teams that never get the chance to go to a national chapmanship game. She did a twice in a row with less talent than some of those uconn teams that had lots more talented players. CC Has raised the stakes for women's basketball. Or should I say women sports in general?

If womens basketball was a one player game OK but its a team game and if the other players and you can't blame her because the team loses. That like saying she is the only one on the team.

Jay Williams is speaking as if one person can win the championship in a team sport. There are teams who have won championships that don’t have players even close to CC’s caliber. His rationale is very flawed.

Race plays a very big part ....And that's not a knock against the person. Caitlin Clark, Abby Steiner, Christian McCaffrey, Eminem, Larry Bird, etc. all they do is work on their respective crafts and are/were good at it. The problem is that they get to be "America's Sweetheart ". But when a Coco Gauf, Naomi Osaki, Serena Williams and Venus before her come along they never were "Americas sweetheart"?. How about Simone Biles? Nada.....Dominique Dawes who Beautiful, classy Skilled...Anything?..Misty Copeland how she not? Let's be honest with ourselves.

Clark could have shopped her talent out to a sure fire championship, if she had no loyalty to anyone or any place except herself. There is a reason that Clark always gets so many assists and didn't jump ship for a ring. She doesn't think "It's ALL ABOUT ME!"

LOL...Williams is completely clueless. How is Caitlin Clark carrying two otherwise mediocre teams to the finals not greatness? This is something both Magic and Bird did once, and Magic won the title because obviously someone had to lose, and MSU without Magic was otherwise the less mediocre of the two teams. So I guess the twisted logic of the Duke/UConn false equivalence also ignores Steph Curry's single handed Davidson run.
