I’ve been a Ride share driver for the last 10 years in Atlanta, And my best advice is to not go pick up or drop off in Black neighborhoods! And this is coming from a Black man myself!

Thank God I’ve had the chance to learn from my experience and not be a victim. You have to have common sense. You could literally see the areas you’re coming into and say this doesn’t feel right! I personally only go to Houses or Businesses. No apartments, No nicknames, No rides with no history of using Uber or Lyft, No picking up people using other people’s accounts. Always call to see who you’re picking up if you’re uncertain. And I still make over 100k yearly. But you do as you please.

I don't understand how Lyft/Uber drivers are killed and shot, when cabbies don't have the same things happen to them. I never heard of cabbies being killed or robbed. Uber/Lyft should have a "red alert" zone. Where drivers don't pickup or dropoff.

Before I started law school and now living off loans, I was driving Uber and Lyft full time to support my family. I rode around with protection and a camera, it is one of the most dangerous things. Lyft and Uber does not vet the customers, anyone can make an acount, I used to pick up at the most dangerous spots too and shady people would just hop in. Thank God I am no longer doing that, I hope and pray all my fellow brothers and sisters who are hustling this way to find another route, these companies do NOT care about you.

Im just a guy that saw a video on youtube and made an observation based on very little info. Are you new to this whole internet thing and the way comment sections work? Why would I have an answer?
@@JasonMiller-rg8md1to be fair, if they did require anything, like let's say they required bullet resistant polycarbonate like a police car or a real cab, they drivers would almost certainly be in an uproar saying they can't afford to have it installed, it's too much of an investment for a part time job, there isn't a premade version for my car because unlike police and cabs, uber doesn't have a standardized vehicle, etc.
so what else can you do, maybe require more information from users i guess. that might help some.
@@JasonMiller-rg8md1 I am a delivery driver with expertise. I say a driver shouldn't drive anyone unless the passenger is verified. And even then, we should be able to receive a free insulated bags to carry orders, even a bullet proof vest/reflective.

Why no description of suspect?
When will Uber and Lyft be held accountable for not verifying their riders? A class-action lawsuit should be in order. This has been happening for far too long and as a former driver, the main reason I stopped driving is because I have no idea who I'm picking up. Imagine having that dreaded feeling that your next ride could be your last every single time you pick someone up. It's just not worth it.

I'm not sure about Lyft, but you can use Uber anonymously by creating a burner email and using a prepaid card paid by cash. You can use any name you want. How would that make you feel as a driver?

You have to stay prayed up and not be so desperate for money. I’m a driver and I don’t take just any ride. Lyft/Uber don’t care so therefore you have to care about your own safety. No respect for a persons lively hood and vehicle! I get countless deactivations threats about me canceling rides that I don’t feel good/safe about. It’s sad how they operate and don’t give you full access to see who’s getting in YOUR car. It turns my stomach knowing this is my only option right now to pay my bills 😢
