In 1969 I was sat 15ft away from Peter Green in this clip playing Oh Well on his 1959 Les Paul on Monster Music Mash !! I was 14yrs old and was with a group of school kids asked to make up an audience !!! It was filmed at a converted church (where the original Top of the Pops used to be filmed) on Dickenson Rd Manchester UK !!! The truly great Pete Green of Fleetwood Mac !!! I will never ever forget that moment !!!!!
Finally, a guy who can play. All those guys with channels on youtube who think they are imparting great wisdom and pretend they can play but can't play worth a flip make me lmao. It's good to see someone with true talent come along and lay it all out so well and accurately like this dude does.
Over here in the Kalifornia Kollective, this was the tune that got everyone tuned into Fleetwood Mac back in the day. Once you bought the English Rose LP and heard Black Magic Woman, you started down the rabbit hole ... You quickly find the Peter wrote it and Santana "borrowed" it for Woodstock 🙃 And good on him for doing it 😀 Then you get caught up in Mick Fleetwood's drumming, his phrasing, and timing around the beat, but not quite on it ... And John Mcvie's bedrock bass 😀 Once you come back up to the light of day you are a life long Fleetwood Mac fan. And a Peter Green fan (splinter group). There is a lot to do with the many incarnations of that band ... 😁
I was a great fan back in the sixties. A true stylist. He should also be rememberd for two instrumentals, The Stumble and Greeny, both dating back to his Bluesbreaker days.
interesting picking technique. you use your finger joints and movements a lot (like a master of course). and having a relaxed hand is one of the best advice possible for any player. relax your hand and see what comes with little efforts
Well done Thom & I had been waiting for you to spotlight Peter Green. He was an incredible guitarist & definitely one of the best to ever play the instrument! Hope that you and your family are doing well.
Your bespoke Italian-made Paoletti Guitar is very handsome, and played with almost as much authenticity as Peter Allen Greenbaum in his late 60s heyday. 🎉🎉🎉
Love your laughs of delights throughout this video. I first heard this as an awesome Joe Jackson cover on Laughter and Lust. Thanks GP for playing one of my suggestions.
I remember seeing an interview with Peter Green discussing Oh Well Part 1. He mentioned that pretty much everyone played it incorrectly because there is actually a Bb in the riff.
I have a form of Tourette’s that causes me to shake and twitch all the time, I have to tense my muscles in my arms, hands, fingers, neck, back and legs. Playing relaxed is impossible to me so I just try to make the best of what I can do but playing with any real speed or accuracy is almost impossible. I wish there was a way to play relaxed but I’ve had Tourette’s since I was about 8 and I’m 50 next February so I play the best I can.
Anyway you could do the James Burton lead electric guitar intro, solo and fills from the Judy Collins version of Someday Soon as found on the studio album Who Knows Where the Time Goes? NOT the Buddy Emmons Steel parts ... a LOT of vids out there on that ... but NOBODY on YT has ever done the James Burton stuff. That is a shame because this tune REALLY helped to get Country Rock rolling back in the day.
@@GuitarPilgrim thank you for your reply i wish i was close to you i would be at your door all the time i like the way you come across on your pod. I was over here around 1987 ish and a friend was in a band called The jacket of hearts but lost touch 👍
It sounds a bit like the riff of "the core" played by Eric Clapton. Could you please also explain how to play "handjive", a good job for the right hand and the sense of rythm. Thanks for your Channel, you're making a really good job.

I'm playing that song since it came out in 69. Never sounded quite right LOL I missed a B-flat in the riff ... no wonder I still suck
Such an iconic song from "back in the day". Mesmorised us trying to be guitarists, how I wish we had UA-cam 😄
Your teaching is stacked with enthusiasm and musicianship.. great control on a master Peter Green riff. Today is a(nother) good day!
Always loved Peter greens playing and greeny is my favourite les Paul of all time

Thanks for the great lesson Thom. I've been putting off learning this one for years, and there's no one who could teach it to me better than you.
Are used to warm up with this riff long time ago and I was in a band just a wonderful riff play
You are amazing!
Love your channel!!!!!!!

I remember seeing an interview with Peter Green discussing Oh Well Part 1. He mentioned that pretty much everyone played it incorrectly because there is actually a Bb in the riff.
the song is on the greatest album Fleetwood Mac ever made!
It is a GREAT riff. Id say it was the riff responsible for me coming away from 'fender' tones and into 'gibson' tones.
You finally got a tele awesome and awesome peter green riff i play this one alot on guitar.
Holy poop! I was just thinking about this. Yes it Bad A.

new guitar ?
Where you been? Nice tele!
brilliant thankyou 🙂
don't over look danny Kirwan,
he got attitude..
Calisters! Lol
If he grows a beard he'll look more or less like Greene, just a stupid observation
My poor attempt at this: ua-cam.com/video/6UTHkMLSQ_Y/v-deo.html 🙂
It’s the coolest riff.. in the lamest song unfortunately..
but the guitar parts are so brilliant I can overlook the weakness of the song.
Ya I don’t hear the vigor in your playing your no Peter Green Sorry 😅
I prefer Lindsey Buckingham's version.
angus yound copied that with beating around the bush copied. way better if you ask me.
I love that paoletti. Seriously considering getting a relic blue custom one.
