  • So, it's not the most glamorous of Mustang Convertibles. BUT it's still a fine looking machine and extremely functional. The folding top works flawlessly --- extremely fast and quiet. The interior changes are, of course, a marked improvement over the previous body style. And the exterior - WOOO - The Mustang is quite the looker.

      I'm 6'2, and I had no problem with head room. The driver seat is power adjustable down to the floor if needed. I think even if you were 6'4/6'5 you would be ok! This isn't like the Camaro, that's for sure (nothing against the Camaro, just the roof line is very low).

    Hey I was wondering if there's too mush noise while driving. You know air leak and if the roof wobbles on bumpy roads?!
    I really wanna get a convertible but I'm afraid it'll be waste of money, so I hope you have tested it on the road ...
    need your help please ... thanks

    • @UsedCarsIllinois
      @UsedCarsIllinois  9 років тому +5

      The roof was designed to be extremely rigid --- and because of that, it doesn't wobble or buckle at all on the road. It's actually the most quiet soft-top closed convertible I've ever driven in. Ford did an amazing job on it!

    I have yet another question how do you change the driving modes on the v6 minus the pretty toggle switches?

    • @UsedCarsIllinois
      @UsedCarsIllinois  9 років тому

      tom orender The button is still there where the toggle switch would normally be --- it's just a button now, and not a trimmed toggle switch.

    • @tomorender6479
      @tomorender6479 9 років тому

      But the driving modes? The v6 has 3 buttons hazard, traction control and steering

    • @UsedCarsIllinois
      @UsedCarsIllinois  9 років тому

      tom orender Ah, yes! I was thinking about the *Steering* Modes. The V6 does NOT have the selectable driving modes (snow/wet/ect) at all. Only the EcoBoost and above have the selectable driving modes.

    Hi, my parents and I are looking at mustangs for my first car. Do you think it is too much for a first car for a 18 year old? And do you think a teenager driving a mustang is frowned upon? Thank you and btw great video!

      I had a lot of friends who drove mustangs in highschool, however. Since you are a teenage male, the insurance price will be A LOT.

    I was considering a 2015 Mustang convertible, but after watching this I'm no longer sure. All the other convertibles I've considered had a retractable hard top. This soft top looks like it leaves open space over the roof rails unless you install some sort of covers. I was hoping there would be a panel that opened and covered the soft top. I guess I'll have to find one at a dealership to see how that works. The coupe looks MUCH better when the convertible top is up... and it's cheaper by a bunch.

    • @UsedCarsIllinois
      @UsedCarsIllinois  9 років тому

      Gregg North Correct, the Mustang Convertible - much like the Camaro - is a soft top. Mustang has never had a retractable hard top (for cost reasons). In fact, I do not believe any *current* American sports car has a retractable hard top, save for an after-market installation.
      WITH THAT SAID, trust me when I say this: The 2015 Mustang soft top is one of the best convertible tops out there. It's super quiet, fast, and very secure. It provides a great "seal" over the vehicle, retrains is shape do to the new and more rigid design, and going down the road, it is more aero-dynamic and acts like a hard-top in that regard.

      Used Cars Illinois Thanks for the reply, however you did not address the major issue I had, which was the look of the car immediately after lowering the top. At 3:38 in your video you pass down the drivers side of the car, and we get a quick glimpse of the well that the top drops into, with its exposed assembly. In all the photos I have seen of the Mustang convertible, the top has been either up or down, but never in action. Does the car come with some sort of cover for the lowered top. If so, that is a deal killer! I had a 1986 GT convertible, and that cover was a pain in the @$$, but the car looked like &#!* with the top exposed. I'm considering a street sleeper Flex Ecoboost instead!

    • @UsedCarsIllinois
      @UsedCarsIllinois  9 років тому

      Gregg North Ohhhhh yes! You are speaking of the "Tonneau Caps" for the top. Yes, I understand what you are talking about now! So, here's the deal: The initial batch of Mustangs were missing those covers that hide the actuator part, which is the exposed bit you are talking about. You ARE supposed to get the covers that get installed and make the top look "seamless" when down. All the promo pictures show these installed. Ford had supply problems with them, and didn't ship any of the Mustangs with them installed. If you bought a Mustang convertible, you were supposed to get them from Ford at a later date.

    The roof is water proof or not ???

    • @UsedCarsIllinois

      As in, doesn't absorb water? Yeah, it has properties that act like water deflector/repellant.

    Is there a premium v6 convertible mustang?

    • @Muandrewta83
      @Muandrewta83 9 років тому +1

      No there's not. Only on the Eciboost and GT.

    • @UsedCarsIllinois
      @UsedCarsIllinois  9 років тому

      Toby Andrews is right, there is no V6 premium this year. You could always get a catskin interior done. The more I look at the V6 and drive it, the more I think I could be happy with a V6 with some nice wheels + mods. Put a cold air intake, and a power plus throttle body and be netting almost 330 HP. It's all about the looks and this new Mustang is just awesome to look at!

    • @tomorender6479
      @tomorender6479 9 років тому

      Used Cars Illinois I'm actually very upset that ford has seemed to forget about the v6 and are trying to shove the eco boost 4 banger down people's throat there is no reason I shouldn't be able to get leather seats or a bigger screen in the six if I can get it in the 4....and just one last thing if the 4 comes with a turbo charger shouldn't the six have the same option? I got away form my 4 cylinder in high school and I will never go back and I won't event if I have to by the fancy parts and put them in myself including my own turbo charger

    • @UsedCarsIllinois
      @UsedCarsIllinois  9 років тому

      It does suck! I was thinking that I wanted a new Mustang, and maybe the V6 would fit. But without leather available, or even a premium audio system now, I'm not sure... Maybe it's mostly a CAFE standard thing. With the EcoBoost, Ford can get much better MPG on the EPA testing cycle than the 6 Cylinder. With the Ecoboost engine slated to be the powerplant that takes the majority of sales, and fleet fuel economy averages needing to be at a certain number by 2020, Ford might have wanted to get another high MPG car out there to raise their average.

    Very crappy salesman: "…Unfortunately, just a V6." "…The startup won't be anything exciting." "It's not a premium. This is just a V6 convertible, so it doesn't have leather." Disappointedly: "… Just a V6 with the automatic." "You've got your two little seats back there. You can really make a large person suffer…" "Standard screen. You don't get the big screen." "You have to get the premium to get the really nice toggle switches." "Nothing to really write home about on the start up, it is a V6." "You gotta pull this down and re-latch it, which is actually quite a bit of effort required."
    Just a reminder, you're a car salesman, not an automotive journalist, giving a negative review. Stop putting down the V6 engine and the base model features. V6 Mustangs account for over 50% of Ford's Mustang sales figures. Without them the Mustang would die, period.
    There are plenty enough Mustang haters out there, to bash on the base model Mustangs, without salesmen adding their negative comments as well. Most people have nothing but compliments for my 2012 Premium V6 mustang. Some people talk smack about it, until they go for a ride, then they always comment, that the car is really nice. So, do us all a favor. Just do your job. Sell the car and spare us your wannabe car reviewer, Jeremy Clarkson impressions.

      First of all, this isn't a "sale" video. I'm not trying to sell anything. My job isn't to sell you this car. That's not what this video is. I am a car enthusiast who so happens to work at a car dealership, doing a quick video looking at a vehicle WITHOUT rose-colored glasses on. Just as you are entitled to criticize my presentation and video, I am allowed to conduct my video, including my opinions and point of view, however the hell I want. Honestly, I don't think Ford or Mustang need you going around and "protecting" the brand. Get off your high horse, eh? Besides, I don't think anyone appreciates being fed "fluff" - i.e., the type of presentation that you are championing (the one that only looks at the positive aspects of something). But, thanks for your comment --- it did make me reflect inward about what I was trying to accomplish with my video.

    • @skybluemarshall
      @skybluemarshall 9 років тому +3

      Used Cars Illinois Well, you are representing a dealership in the video and inviting potential customers to come down and check out your cars. So, it was natural to assume that you are selling cars. I must admit, I did make a highly opinionated and somewhat inflammatory observation. But, I'm not protecting the brand, even though I do own a 2012 V6 premium Mustang. I happen to think it's great car, even though I just had my water pump replaced at only 48,000 miles. I'm sure that honesty among dealers has some pretty solid limits. I've never heard a car dealer say, "Hey come on down and check out our Mustangs, and oh, by the way, your water pump might not last more than 50,000 miles and the manual shift linkages, were pretty crappy from 2011-2012." If you sell cars that way, then you have my utmost respect and I would love to buy a car from a guy like you, who's actually honest. I have never seen a car dealership manager who promoted honesty. I've had some pretty shady, if not totally illegal crap pulled on me. So, I don't know how a guy like you can keep his job in a business like that. If this is really how you sell cars, then many thanks and kudos to you, for being honest.

    This is a horrible car salesman. Sure he is just giving a review, but it was a poor one. All he had to do was give the specs of the car, not your own personal opinions. I have a 2015 v6 same color but not a convertible and I like it. I could of got a v8 but wanted a v6 due to hit being better on gas. People buy different cars for different reasons.

    • @UsedCarsIllinois
      @UsedCarsIllinois  9 років тому +1

      So, you're entitled to your own personal opinion on my review, yet *I* am NOT entitled to my own personal opinion on the vehicle? All you had to do was not say ANYTHING on my review. But alas, you can say whatever you want. Likewise, I can as well. I never said the Mustang was a bad vehicle. I just pointed out it's pros and cons for any prospective buyer. Just list the specs? Who does that help? Physically having the vehicle and seeing how it functions, what works well and what doesn't --- That is far more valuable to, well, everyone. Except you, I guess.

    • @XcluZiveBeats
      @XcluZiveBeats 9 років тому

      Used Cars Illinois This is youtube as long as your comments are not disabled, I'm free to have my own personal opinion. You clearly posted the video like everyone else on youtube, to get views and feedback.In my opinion this review sucks By the looks of it after posting, others agree with me. I've never seen a car salesman in my life to basically say this "only this" and "only that" well it's not a "v8" no crap. If a person wanted a "v8" they would get one. Obviously if Ford made a base model with a "v6" their is a market for it. SMH
