No disrespect to The Damned's former drummers but Rat is unbelievable. I saw them in Adelaide last night and he just takes them to a whole nother level. It wasn't a nostalgia trip by any means. It was 2 hours of fantastic in-your-face rock and roll underpinned by Rat's thunderous drumming. Glad I was there to see it. And kudos to The Hard Ons. They were fantastic too.
That show was incredible! Fairly sure I was stood next to you. Was in awe of your ability to hold your phone steady no matter how much the crowd was moving.
Man the first time I saw the damned was in I think 84 or 86 but the saints were supporting them and that was great the saints didn't sing stranded but the damned came on almost straight away and sang stranded talk about punch.. rat set his kit on fire.. this was at the Coogee bay hotel Sydney..
Been following the damned on you tube here in England, Rat is still a brilliant drummer in fact this is probably the best line up, sorry Brian. They seem to get better with age. Been a fan since I was 15 in 1977 and still have the original records up to the black album. 😊
You're kidding the hard ons were massive in UK and Europe but they were a three peice back them and the drummer was the singer .. but I wouldn't go and see them now no wonder you Don recognition them .
Might want to put the hard ons collaboration with Rollins when they put out ( Let There Be Rock ) and kiss well I saw them as a 14 year old in 79 and I thought they were good then the world grabbed me in a headlock and dragged me into punk rock but hey kiss were ok back back back then
You don’t have Phantasmagoria, Eloise is on that album. Edit just checked my album it’s a re release in Australia I bought it in 1986 while I was in high school so I thought it was the original
Melody Lee is the best but it would've been great if they dropped the songs off their new album at put Nasty .hit or miss . Rabid.. on the list by the way it's not their last time it's their last time with this line up and it wasn't the original lineup Brian James was the original bass and he was the song writer when he left captain took over guitar and writing and Gray came in but it wasn't a great lineup
It was advertised here as their final Australian tour. So maybe they are just sick of traveling all this way? Who knows. I doubt they’ll break up any time soon. I mean, it’s the damned. I feel dave and captain will keep it going til they physically cannot do it anymore. For the record, I love this line up of the band and I also really like the latest album so I was stoked to see them play those songs live. They have a lot of great songs and I understand they can’t play everything. We got 2 hours though which I was more than happy with. It was a great setlist. Was very happy with the show.
What I am lead to believe is alot of reasons rat isn't to keen anymore.or captain and Gray have a side band with a member of the stranglers it would be unreal if they kept this going but hey it is what it is thanx rat for turning up ...
Here's a cracker if you want to watch the damned in full force grab the Brixton academy 1989 now that's great gig they are in action in that or for more recent it's the yokahama bay ball Japan 2024
I just saw them in San Francisco. Front row in front of Captain. Can’t describe how good it was!
They really haven't lost any amount of energy at all. Still slaying and giving 200%.
Yes ! we saw the sydney gig and it was great! the sound was a bit off but i got to see Rat finally!!!

Rat back = jigsaw complete.
Just wish they played liar then you would've heard rat solo melting into captain guitars and vanians vocals with Gray keeping them together

It wasn’t easy. Hahahaha
Rats drumming WOW
Last time I saw the Damned, I had cocktails with them in a marquee before they went on stage, must have been about 1987/8
Ha! That’s wild!!! I bet they had some amazing stories to share.

Wow!!! What an awesome story!!! The Damned playing I’m stranded is something I would love to hear.
Yes it was and back in the day as well
Melody Lee is one of my favourites. 😊
One of mine too!!!!

Yeah they really do sound fantastic on this tour. Phenomenal band!
Last tour? Mmm. Went to their "farewell gig" in London in 88 or 89
So it’s like KISS then? 😂

The support band are unknown, here in England.
Gary dreadful was the drummers name in the 90s and yes he was dreadful 😂
That’s the guy. 1997 was a long time ago now even though I like to think it was not long ago. Hahaha damn we’re getting old!
Saw in Sydney 2024 the sound was bad, poor mixing. Great show, Dave Vanian let down by mixing

Not an original physical copy (yet). Heard it tons though.
@@TheLongGoneLoserRockShow my favourite album at 16.
Eloise was released as a Single a half year after Phantasmagoria first release

I meant James was original guitar and this was an absolute brilliant lineup. My phone has a mind of its own and writes stuff by itself
