    Love the vid, I've modified my z1 to a bbshd and upgraded the controller on the stock motor.... So dual motor each with thier own power source torgue is great when mashing down on both throttles but my top speed is lacking........... Will swapping the standard rear sprocket improve topspeed with the bbshd as its topping out at 27ish mph

    It's been fun to see what you've done putting a powerful mid drive on this frame. It's been highly informational. I see you ended up taking the z1's orginal hub motor off? Was that just to get weight down or does it run smoother with just the regular mtb hub?

    • @johnnypuetz
      @johnnypuetz  4 роки тому +1

      Yes! :) I took it off mostly for the weight reason. The setup is strong enough, you don't need the hub motor anymore. But if you don't care about the weight, you can run a dual motor setup. There is a hack remove the limiter of 21mph for the orginal motor. So it don't cut off when you go faster. ;)

  • @CastorTroy30
    @CastorTroy30 4 роки тому +1

    Hi, pardon my ignorance but how did the sprocket change made the bike go faster? Did you swap the first one to less teeth or more? What is the Science behind it? Especially for a bike that doesn’t need pedaling. I’m really interested in swapping my single cog as well once I know the reason behind the additional speed. I hope you answer. Thanks.

    • @johnnypuetz
      @johnnypuetz  4 роки тому

      A. Castro Adding teeth to the front and rear sprockets have opposite effects. Installing a larger countershaft sprocket creates higher gearing, while a larger rear sprocket lowers gearing. Similarly, a smaller front sprocket lowers the gearing while a smaller rear sprocket makes gearing higher.

    • @johnnypuetz
      @johnnypuetz  4 роки тому

      Gearing a bike up to produce higher top speed with less acceleration is done using a larger countershaft (gearbox) sprocket or a smaller rear sprocket. Gearing a bike down giving it more acceleration with lower top speed is done using a smaller countershaft (gearbox) sprocket or a larger rear sprocket.

    More proof that hub motors are faster. My 72V 3000W hub motor setup reaches 56mph, and weighs probably 50lbs more.

      Milan Nikolic nope, still able to hit 30mph uphill. :) we also played around with the front sprocket. We changed the front sprocket to a smaller one. It does power wheelies than and top speed is about 30mph. Little hooligan bike.

    No offense but no one wants to see someone yap about a bike we want to know how you did it. To you, that may be easy to understand but for others who know nothing about E bikes a detailed explanation will do.

    Shame you couldn't put that motor in the frame like a proper cafe racer, looks awful where it is and not very well protected, and a gaping empty whole in the middle of the bike🤔🤔

    Is overvolting this bike an option? For example instead of 72V, maybe a 96V Battery with a new ESC.
