This is such a great film.
Yeah, this film was a masterpiece. The camera and light placement is genius.
It's crazy how much money gets spent to create a scene...Like that red planet thing...Scouting in hawaii, then building a giant set like that with people we dont' care about...I image these days 98 % of it would be CGI...
Something I noticed about this film that no one ever seems to talk about is that the enterprise didn’t fire weapons even once.
people talk about this constantly - the Enterprise gets owned in all three JJ “i never even watched star trek” abrams movies
ahh yes I love these movies but there was always something 'wrong' with them. That's it, you nailed it
Man I had always just assumed that everything was just CGI; this blows my mind that this was real stuff they friggin built themselves and it was all in-camera 😄Wow!
22:14 This is where they completely missed the mark. They really screwed up Khan. They didn't need to try and reinvent him, just replicate him. Abrams is good at rebooting franchises, but horrible at maintaining them.
I agree. The actor who played Khan did a good job, but they should have used somebody more like the original. The Khan in this film wasn't rough around the edges like the original khan...
Abrams ruined all those films, because he never understood what Star Trek is. Or, he had a gameplan, to abuse its famous name to appeal to the lowest common denominator of audiences. Same thing that happened to ST: Discovery and ST: Picard. No story, hap hazzard attempts at coddling easily influenced peoples emotions. By stealing stories that were successful due to their merit.
Ever see those 3.99 movie bins at department stores? With movies like "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" episode 6, or "Frozen 5: Olafs vacation". This is exactly what Abrams and Kurtzman have created.
@@bartacomuskidd775 Abrams really doesn't pay attention to any mythos of any franchise, he just bulldozes though them and does what he wants to. The "alternate timeline" is just a lazy way to not follow any of the rules set up by Roddenberry. I 100 percent agree with you about Discovery and Picard.
It’s not canon exactly as the show but he’s still a great version🤷♀️like he said If it’s good it don’t matter but I can’t blame you for wanting to see your fave but don’t call it BAD when it’s not, it’s just different
At least the last season of Picard and of course Strange New Worlds still have the spirit of Star Trek, good old Trek
Great class. Peace.
Wow baby they created the forest and the volcano set
This is the best channel on UA-cam!
Thanks for watching the video, have a nice day:)
I'm fascinated by how Abrams expounds on the honoring of the Trek lore in his cinematic endeavors of the franchise (and does a pretty decent job of Easter egging and homages to the original) but then completely and deliberately destroys the franchise with his (and Kurtzmann's) vision of what they think "new" Trek should be (on the television side), including retconning and erasing the original source material. Paramount's idea of what they think the "modern" audiences want is woefully delusional.
That negative aside, I truly appreciate the actors and all the behind-the-scenes people who brought this to life.
I feel like it's the weakest of the three. But still a good film
Honestly I would have loved it if JJ went the extra mile and made the scene where the Vengeance crashes into San Francisco completely out of practical effects with only some CGI. That would have been a tricky, but very amazing thing to see on screen and a nice call back to some of the previous Star Trek movies. Heck, I would love it if the next Star Trek movie used less CGI and more practical effects like ship models.
if only the story was a little bit better, bit more thought-through, since there are so many plotholes when you actually sit down and make out what is going on on the screen, rather than just watching colorful images... kinda sad.. but I guess that's what J.J. does, focuses more on "more visualy appealing" movie rather than story-wise one
Nice beginning but I did not believe that the clothes of the natives were so clean and perfect.
So why is the alien plant life red? Chlorophyll is why plants are GREEN on Earth, but would it even be possible for some other combination of elements (that appear red) to also enable photosynthesis? If not likely, then they should not have gone with red...although it was a very entertaining part of the movie.
Star Trek has faster than light travel and interplanetary teleportation. They freeze a bloody volcano. Photosynthesis with red pigments is a concept that is perfectly sensible in comparison and maybe even likely to be encountered on planets where the light spectrum is different than on earth. There are even "plants" (like red algae) that use red pigments in photosynthesis on earth to absorb the predominantly "green" light in the deep sea.
@@kathrinlindern2697 Where's your proof that red algae is capable of photosynthesis?
I was watching the movie and really loved it all these years, but all I could think was “could red trees and plants really exist on an alien planet?!” It really kept me from loving this film as much as I could have. Thank God I wasn’t the only one who noticed it
@@mattneal5257 Great post - I agree. You're not the only one wondering if red plant life (predominantly red) is even possible. Freezing volcanos and warp drive (and transporters)? Who knows, but something as simple as red plant life (using photosynthesis)? I'm not so sure...
And on an even more important note - What happened to all the union contractors who were killed when the death star was destroyed by the rebels? These guys were just trying to make a living like anybody else - They were still working on the death star when Luke destroyed it!
@@SH-kn7ut I have always thought about the construction workers on the Death Star. As well as the bar tenders, cooks, waiters, janitors, etc
Is Pike dead /
One the best SS movies out there! cant wait to get the sequels.
About 6:49 I thought there was about to be done Star Wars music
Why is the music in the background making me cry?
Shame it wasn't a real forest and a real volcano lol
JJ Abrams. A man who literally knew absolutely FA about Star Trek.
Abrams. "There was such a personal connection between Kirk/Shatner and Khan/Ricardo. So the combination of taking a movie that was Extraordinarily Rich and Mythic... and update it. Not only with a New Actor but to take his character and do something new. So we were going to Completely Reinvent the character of Khan, like we TRIED to reinvent the Main Characters"
*How utterly dumb and arrogant can one person be. Strong Personal Connection (Society), Extraordinarily Rich (Depth of Story, BEYOND the normal), and Mythos (the very nature of Humanity).. ~ Lets chaaaange that.*
No one is this ignorant. This movie was greenlit for one purpose.. appeal to the lowest common denominator of the human species. Being Dullard.
This is Paramount in Action. revamped RENO 911, The Game (the worst example of Blacksploitation in 30 years), Star Trek DIscovery (Star Trek without integrity or duty), and the dozen other shows youve never heard of.
Truthfully? I dont blame the writers, or even Abrams, or Paramount for that matter. I blame the spoiled American snowflakes, that consumes this type of flashy fodder.
Zoey Saldana speaking klingon just sounded so hot🔥. 🤔😍🙄 ( Am i all alone here on that) The ... what was that sound😍😍😂😂20:24
Lol
Can imagine
Music:Michael Giacchino(2013)
I enjoyed this , awesome movie, one of my favorite movies of all time , best since Star Trek II The Wrath of Kahn
*Khan* 🖖
Why the helicopter though?
He's incredible. Just watch him in a very good quality on a big screen and you'll notice when he sheds his tear, every single muscle of his face is controlled and connected with emotions - HE'S SIMPLE INCREDIBLE! I was so amazed, words are not enough.
The Making of "Into Darkness" (?!)
.. the 2nd film...
But so far showing scenes from "Beyond" ...the3rd film...(?!) ...
Pour quois? 🤔🇺🇲🥺🖖
I didnt really care for the hairless Klingnons.
So this is how to destroy a franchise. Great tips.
what a waste of energy & resource
No one cares.
This was NOT Star Trek. It was Crap Trek.
