Is this Japan's most UNUSUAL temple? | Tsubosaka-dera

- I made it to an obscure hilltop Buddhist temple called Tsubosaka in central Nara, Japan. This temple is dedicated to bad eyesight - there's even a gigantic pair of eyeglasses at the base of one of the pagodas. Plus, there are endless unreal statues, some imported from (or influenced by) India. I was virtually the only visitor on a snowy day, and wandered the large complex for two hours, collecting stamps on a map that the friendly guy at the entrance said would earn me a free postcard. This was a remarkable day on a pleasantly snowy mountaintop in December!

Love the snow ❄️ dusting. Very fascinating. Your are a good self tour guide. Excellent video 📹. 😊
That Buds for you. The deed is done.
Heh, should have taken one for my troubles
Beautiful scenery, thank you for sharing Japan with us!
Cool last name!
Thank you for watching!
Very interesting place. Lots of cool statues and a nice stamp challenge to complete. How fun! Enjoyed this snowy adventure
Thanks again. Glad I went here!
Looks like the Kintetsu line on the first train....we stayed one night in Kashihara last year on the trip to Yoshino Mountain and temples. Next time will try to stop here.
Snow here in Northern CA also... Love the unusual places you are visiting...gives me great ideas for next trip to the Kansai region. Have always enjoyed the Nara area.
Yes that was Kintetsu. Gateway to central Nara!
I really enjoy the education I get from watching your videos. Plus I might need to visit this temple because I had both eyes have retinal detachment. Just had my last surgery for it in December of last year.
Thanks. No promises about the power of this temple, but it will be a nice visit either way!
You had another interesting day, by the looks of it! If ever I plan a trip to Japan, I'll have to go through all your Japanese videos to come up with a list of less-obvious places to visit---thank you!
Sounds like a good plan. Thanks for delving into these!
Such a nice video, beautiful temple and nature. Thank you for sharing with us. ☺
Beautiful place, I really enjoyed watching your visit!
Thanks, glad to hear it
My house is Niigata, Japan and big earthquake is coming again.
Magnitude 6.0 now!
Last week, even though I put the fallen bookshelf back in place and disposed of and cleaned up the food that flew out of the refrigerator during the shaking, the same thing happened again.
I’m m very very sad. I have to clean up again.
I heard about that earthquake in Niigata. I hope you and your house are all right. take care
Thanks, Jeremy, for this adventure into the Real Japan. No tourists! Did you throw away your specs?
I did but immediately retrieved them because I couldn't see 🤣
Hi bro, how long take the way from Osaka to temple
About 2 hours
Is there any restaurant at the temple?
There was some sort of cafe with food I think, but it was closed when i was there (I think closed for winter; might be open in warmer times)
Thank you
Hey Still Jeremy! Are you a fan of pokemon or Nintendo? I doubt you are but i think it would be cool to see a video of super mario world or something like that!
I'm afraid I haven't played much of any video games since about 1988 😅
But your comment did inspire me: in an upcoming video I used the intro "I'm still Jeremy", so thanks!
I thought everyone in Japan plays nintendo switch all day...my mistake lol...@@T1DWanderer
