Bluetooth vs WiFi - What's the difference?

- This is an animated video comparing Bluetooth vs Wifi. These are radio frequency technologies that are used for wirelessly connecting electronic devices. Bluetooth is for connecting devices to each other. And Wifi is for connecting devices to the internet.

I personally purchased both of these for my desktop.

Hi! I do appreciate your service, i beg for pbx box video how does it works
You should make a video about every(or most) devices chargers or power suppiers to devices, like USB, that weird one that is shaped like a circle it would be really cool
This guy has no idea how much he had help me in my computer exams previously (hoping for future too!) I just subbed.
You should tell him
@@storm-0558 he told him xd
Do you mind if I asked what computer exams those were?
I learned something new 😊
Jui
I love how the little Bluetooth speaker said "PAV" instead of "JBL" lol!
These animations really help to grasp some of these concepts a lot better since they are pretty abstract if you aren't used to them already. Much appreciated ❤
Пррололлрооггшпрш
Awesome.
This guy explained 'em both in 4 minutes while my teacher takes 1 hour but still becomes no-brainer
fax
Oof
Lol yea tbs.
Well teachers usually paid by the hour like Ladys in a brothel
Right
These animations are crazy, wow
1:21, the steering wheel too
I'm pretty sure that he's using powerpoint but in another level out of this world.
they're made using powerpoint 2000-2003, crazy I know.
hes both talented at explaining this stuff and animating it. definition of a legend.
Spectacular work; you do not understand how greatful i am having found your channel. I will watch these again and again!!
It's a crazy coincidence that I just explained this to my dad yesterday, and now I have a supporting source! Haha
Turn off your mic permission for google assistant :P
The matrix has you
Your animations are spot on! Easy to understand and follow. Thank you for them.
I am an old guy and a scientist, but have always kept up with technology. When bluetooth was being developed it was featured as a “personal” networking protocol. It then took a relatively long time to roll out. Bluetooth, by the way, was King Harald of Denmark, who unified the Danish tribes and was a big fan of blueberries. His subjects nicknamed him blue tooth!
Thanks you, I didn't know where the name originated. Wikipedia states "The first wire recorder was invented in 1898 by Danish engineer Valdemar Poulsen, who gave his product the trade name Telegraphone.".
These animated videos give good understanding of the concepts. Thank you so much🙏.
Great and easy to follow info on the differences and how these technologies work. Great breakdown!!
that spinning wheel bro
I am 78 yrs old. Thank you for the excellent video . clear and in plane language for everyone to understand. Well done.
I am definitely glad you made this vid, because alot of people always ask, about the difference between the two. And those animations you use are really nice.
1:28 That's an insane driver
Literally came to the comments to see if anyone else noticed this:P
Excellent excellent explanation. Thank you for the graphics. Thank you for the narration and beautiful wording descriptors for each of those wireless connections.
Excellent video. Explained something I had little idea about very clearly. I now understand a lot more than I did 10 minutes previously ! Bravo !
since first video I've ever watched in this channel, I always feel, I should travel through time & show these videos to college lecturers & professors for better training.... thank you Sir (team) for making our lives simple & easy.....
Superb video. Been using both for years, but never really understood the difference. This video made it crystal clear in a way that is understandable to the viewer. Really nice job, and thank you for doing it.
Beautiful animation with a great explanation. However, you forgot to mention that modern Bluetooth protocols now require some sort of passcode to pair certain devices. I believe this is just a security measure to avoid unwanted, unauthorized or unrecognized Bluetooth connections from happening between certain devices.
It's amazing how the teachers on UA-cam work out better than some lecturers at university somehow. But, I'm grateful for either teaching. Thank you for your time and effort to teach others. May your life be blessed 🙏 amen
I thought this was the best & simplest explanation of these two communication types that anyone would be able to understand...! Excellent job explaining it...!
Cool. Thanks for this simple video explaining both technologies. I knew bits and pieces of both of them, but this video ties it all together.
Take care.
Very informative, concise and unambiguous explanations! Kudos to you!
Wow! As always, thank you very much for the clear explanation! Keep safe Sir and God bless! ☺️
Expected one ... Finally you posted 😁 thanks
You're welcome 😊
Thank you for the videos, generally! They help a lot! Keep on going and doing an amazing job...!!
The best explanation I have ever heard. Thank you.
Two points to mention: a) Bluetooth needs a password when pairing the devices; b) the purpose of Wi-Fi is primarily to form a network and then, if necessary, to connect to the internet via a router.
hi, To create a network is a router required? Or are you saying the router is only used as a hub to connect to the internet? Can two phones or other devices make a wifi network without a router with one device acting as a router? thanks
@@sbaxter4207 A wifi device 'can' work in two modes one is connecting to a router the other is direct to other devices no router, not all devices have the option. My HP printer does.
The PW is optional, devices such as earbuds have no capability to enter a PW.
@@Viewer19 like a computer to computer network right?
@@tbarnes36 Yes you can directly link two computers but speeds will be less than wired.
Thanks for the explanation, it is very informative and helpful.
Hi, I am back. Where do I start from? There are so many different channels explaining internet things but...Nobody has a better terminology than you, do you have any idea just how great you are? You by far are my favourite channel on youtube. Thank you kindly for your time and effort in making this video. I really hope you realise that your time in making this video hasn't gone unnoticed. "Thank you" so much. 🙌
Outstanding presentation! Thank you 😊
What a great and simple way of explaining things. Awesome jobs.
I just found your channel😁 (just subscribed) nothing else like this channel on UA-cam ! When you consider the content quality. And the ability to explain things so I can absorb it. .....
UA-cam's algorithm sucks. because I should have came across your channel a long time ago! And you should have at least 50,000 subscribers. There's so many people that like technology content of this nature.
Thank you....but I do have more than 50,000 subs.

I've just found your channel today, and it's great to find someone who's willing to explain the technical side of things in clear and simple terms to all of us non-geeks. Subscribed.
Thank you for the videos, generally! They help a lot! Keep on going and doing an amazing job for the society!
I like this channel. Your explanations make sense, are logical and very relatable and easy to understand... thank you! : )
You are The one I was searching for last 2 years …
@PowerCert Animated Videos
Please make more videos on network connections and network traffic (incoming & outgoing) and also on CPU vs Memory usage and how it is calculated etc.
Thank you for a simple, easy to understand explanation.
Just what I wanted to know, very clear presentation. Wrote the definition of both protocol, thanks...
Thanks for the explanations clear and informative.
splendid video PowerCert Animated Videos. I smashed that thumbs up on your video. Continue to keep up the very good work.
Love your videos. Good explanation. Gracias senor
Truly performing a great public service by producing and providing these educational videos.
Thank you so much for your hard work and easy-to-understand explanation.
Many thanks -- I never fully understood either protocol prior to this!
Thank you for this clear and go- straight-to- the- point video.
This was very helpful. Can you maybe make a video on other communication technology like telephon networks and how they're different from the internet?
Thanks for the informative videos man, may God bless you.
Good job guy, helpful information keep up the good work !!!!!
your channel is so informative, thank you
Great understandable info provided and definitely subscribed, thank you.
Helpful video! Thank you. 💛🙏🏼
Very lucid explanation. Many thanks. About Bluetooth you could also have explained how the transmission and reception occurs. How the initial handshake occurs.
Amazing explanation sir...tqq soo muchh
Another great video.
Excellent and simple explanation. Thanks.
I really appreciate you work
Please make a full video on basic ccna course and computers networking .
Beautifully done and explained thank you.
Great explanation. Thank you.
Good simple teaching. Thank You
Simple and precise! Super explanation!!!
Thank you. Your video was very informative.
Great job ! Thank you !
Thank you for this little but very informative video.😊
Very good graphic explanation
Good overall view but lacking some of the newer features
1. Bluetooth now requests a passcode to connect (can still use a default preexisting passcode on some devices that don't support passcode entry).
2. WiFi is not only 2.4 GHz, it's also 5 GHz and 6 GHz now. There are also some non standard frequency ranges in use (I've seen 60 GHz listed). Lower the frequency the greater the range, higher the frequency the greater the speed but diminished range.
3. You can also run a network over Bluetooth, although it's slow and you would opt for WiFi instead if you had the choice
Thank you for your further and updated information.
The video was made 2 years ago. Of course it will not have the updates that we have today. So I wouldn't use the word "lacking". It wasn't lacking anything at the time of publishing. 6 months from now there will be new updates. Technology is moving fast.
Thanks for explaining so clearly💯
Very good explanation, thanks..
Dude finding your channel is like hitting the jackpot
Eres un gran maestro, y tú color de voz es maravilloso.
Gracias por explicarlo todo tan concretamente.
Compliments. Good simple description of the functionality of Bluetooth and Wifi devices.
When an American says "rowter" for this device it grates my ears. I,and many of my fellow Brits (but not all by any means) say "rooter" because most of us say "root" for route, as in path or direction. Great vid, though.
In east cost USA, Rooter with a Roto prefix (Roto-Rooter) is a plumbing company. They help connect us with a different world. LOL.
Thank you! I was wondering for years what it's all about. And no, I'm no beginner but did'nt feel I needed to go to trouble to find out. I used bluetooth to connect expensive ear buds to my smartphone and found out that manufacturers cheated on the public. The cheaper versions would not listen to the navigation app on my smartphone, but to phone calls only. The expensive ones would leave out the first letter of the directions of the app. So I never again purchased any bluetooth device or downloaded an app using it, let aside to buy hardware, for the last approx. 15 years.
Still interesting to watching your video!
excellent tutorial!! thanks
Amazing video. It is very helpful to me to be so analytical.
Great video, thanks
As always, great explanation.
Very informative and well explained video thank you !
You can share internet with bluetooth too and even there are some bluetooth Chinese bluetooth routers to connect older devices without wifi to internet wirelessly.
The way you explain it is perfect.
Excellent video and great job on your part.
Thank you very much!

great video buddy 👏👏👏
One of the best UA-cam channels
lol the spinning car wheel
The older bluetooth versions 1.0 and 2.0 required a 4 digit passwords especially you devices are of different brands.
Except for android to ios pairing which really doesn't work, even on iphone 4 to android. Apple is pretty anal about their "proprietary" tech.
Yes, also I have problems exchanging data to iPhone via Bluetooth .
@@billferner6741 if you bluetooth data from iphone to iphone, you must turn on wifi. If there is no internet it won't work.
Thank apple's paranoia for that stupid feature.
On the other hand, i have never tried to bluetooth from iphone to mac and vice versa.
@@navigatorofnone tank you for that info. I don't have permanent internet (country side), that's why it didn't work.

thanks, I went to music school for 4 years and none of my professors explained it this well.
That was pretty damn good, thanks
Informative. Thanks.
You are a good teacher.
I was active in IT when Bluetooth was developed. The initial idea came from this. A salesman was in a customers office. He had just made a sale, and wanted to give the customer a receipt, but it was impractical to carry a printer around. So Bluetooth allowed the salesman to connect, wirelessly, to a printer in hte customer's office, and produce a paper receipt.
One great (unknown today) advantage was that this was in the days before USB ports existed, and there were multiple cable interfaces available, which would have made hooking a laptop or simiar type device to a printer even more difficult .
A truly useful short video, thank you for putting the work in :) I'm already subscribed; small wonder :)
