- We got lucky and found some beautiful free camping & boondocking at The Mouth of the Huron on Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula!

Bear's den and the Sturgeon River area are great places for seeing fall color. The Huron Islands are cool to visit if you have the mean. I've kayaked there on two of my solo kayak camping trips and camped at the mouth of the Huron River.
