this is honestly my favorite level of all time. was very cool to watch the creating process this and i'm glad it will give rply more attention that he deserves
This somehow goes on for 9 minutes without ever, ever dragging on. Every part flows seemlessly into the next. The gameplay is visible, unique, is interestingly structured and matches its visuals perfectly. The visuals themselves are varied but all feel connected and are as unique as we can get. The music progression, sync and representation here is phenomenal, and the music itself is varied, perfectly represented, and in a more subjective manner, phenomenal. What I always appreciate the most in gd levels is their way of keeping every screen unique, of giving each screenshot you can take the same respect if you pause it, and dammit, this nearly does it for 9 minutes straight. You can easily notice the love that was put in every single section and how much care was put into each asset you see. I might be going through some recency bias, but this, in my eyes, looks like the closest I've seen to a perfect work. I could go on and on about this but no one wants to read my 20 pages long thesis on this level and on gd as an art medium, just know that this brought out something in me which I haven't felt in a while. The feeling that nothing can truly replace this game as an art medium if used done well, and that it's such a shame it does not get the respect it deserves due to its ragebait nature. Being really deep into the gd rabbit hole may have biased my opinion, but this is nothing less than art. It's a kilometer long painting you get to interact with if you so choose. I'm so glad I've found out this community when I did, I'm unbelievably proud of the heights we've reached and I hope it'll continue to prosper long after I'll inevitably have quit the game. Keep building y'all and keep trying new stuff. And congrats to rply on this extraordinary achievement.
Dude I'm so glad that people are recognising how fantastic this level it is, it makes me want to make a 20+ minute review on it because how how much depth it has and the progression, the song representation, EVERYTHING.
As a fellow long time GD veteran who is also equally as passionate about GD serving as an art medium, I could not agree more on all fronts. This is a masterwork. Levels like this are why I have played this game for nearly a decade yet only grown in love and appreciation for its ability to truly show that a community can create and promote true art. The fact this level (and by extension all others) has no incentive whatsoever - no profit to gain nor rapport to build for a career - outside of sheer passion is why it and levels like it truly shine, truly be art unbothered by what the world asks of it. It takes a true brilliant artist to thrive in the limitations of their medium, and I am so happy that I have had the pleasure of knowing hundreds of phenomenal levels and creators that have gone out of their way to challenge their own abilities just to make something others will like, be moved by, or, hell, just remember for being different (ameliorate, anyone?). While many will write this level off as another XXL level too long to be seriously played, I personally would argue this level is bolder than the average contemporary. It is weirder. Slower. Constrained in its color theory. Meant to represent the full essence of the song it is trying hardest to pay tribute to. To me, however, that was the appeal of the XXL since Lonely Travel: a journey perfectly summed up through its score, and vice versa. This level is the essence of the song it so lovingly tries to recreate, and for that success, I would genuinely consider this level perfect. This is what I’ve been here for since I was old enough to appreciate art. Since Revolution and Death Moon made me feel something stronger than a “cool” factor. This is gorgeous, and my level of the update so far.
I made my comment without even noticing you were the person behind the Flappy Dynamix series! Hell, looking through your account I have tons of progress on your older rated levels - seems I spent a long time on Cosmic Nirvana just to rage quit after an ending death 😂. You absolutely are appreciated for your works and your thoughts on GD as art, even if it may be hard at times in a community bound to be full of teens (as I’d imagine the both of us were when we started playing the game). I can’t lie, it can be kind of sad to see levels that push boundaries new and old be met with such divisiveness nowadays. I think since the game has become so large and has been around so long there has been a precedent somewhat set that levels that push typical level structure boundaries are seen as somewhat… bad? I think that makes things like this level fall more to the wayside while a sort of “mainstream” of levels see more attention. But with that being said, I think it’s only natural levels of any length over 3 minutes will be a hard sell, with exceptions for Jonathan levels, of course. I guess this is all to say that I’m glad there are still folks out there who are as nerdy and heady about this game as I am, even if I don’t have any footprint in this game’s history myself. I truly hope with the masterpieces we seem to keep getting time and time again in the last few years, a new generation of art lovers will develop for this game. I wonder who will be the next to carry on the legacy of oddity Zobros coined and Krmal continued. Weird levels getting popular is always a good start.

Plastic Death is probably my most listened to album of the year as of now and I even got the opportunity to see glass beach live back in April; to say this level does one of my favorite tracks of all time complete justice would be an understatement. From the incredible use of the album’s orange and teal color scheme to the general visual and gameplay pacing, this absolutely finds itself among my favorite levels in GD. (PS: if you enjoy the song, PLEASE check out other tracks by glass beach, both of their albums are incredible)
Dude holy shit life is so crazy. I am obsessed with this level and band and has quickly become my new favorite GD level after 10 years of playing and was just checking to see if there were new comments on this video and came across your comment. Your level Lost Legends from back in 2.0 was my hardest demon for almost 6 years! I remember absolutely loving it back in the day and thinking it had my favorite gameplay of any demon I had beaten at the time. It kinda has a special place in my heart and to this day I still think it’s the best Darnoc tribute I know of. Hope you’re doing well, man! Cool to know you’re still in the GD sphere, and as in love with glass beach and this level as I am! Small world, huh? Have a good day :)
@@solo._.dude15Hell yeah! I really appreciate the kind words, Lost Legends definitely hasn’t aged too well in my opinion but i’m still proud of it being out there (WITHOUT a secret way lol). I’ve been thinking of making a level for the first time in a minute, aside from a parody one I did to mess around with 2.2, it’s been maybe 5-6 years since I gave it a shot? Crazy how time flies though, i’m shocked people still remember my presence in the community way back when. Hope all’s been well and glad to see there’s more GD/Gleach fans!
@@tdchris2002 Haha good luck with your level! As for Lost Legends, well, honestly it's a lot better at 2.0 levels with moving objects (plus it actually has the excuse of difficulty to get away with its faster moving objects). Time really is wild, hope it's been a fun journey for you as well. Have a great one!
Please normalize calmer decoration just like in this level before the 2:20 mark !!! Most people think it looks boring but I couldn't disagree more. Yeah the rest of the level is faster but I don't think that means it's necessarily cooler ... Every segment in this level plays its part. Through its highs and "even" its lows I love this level.
+2, calm parts like at the beginning are amazing for showing off the beauty of the song and creating a frame of reference for more climactic parts that wouldn’t hit nearly as hard without the valleys between them
I mean it isn't as boring as he means but when you play it from 0, you kind of just want it to be done ASAP, since being stuck at it for really long then dying right after can be really boring too
This level is a masterclass in song representation and progression. Every single detail, from the song to the colours to the gameplay to the decoration works seamlessly to create a cohesive experience that somehow goes for nine minutes without ever feeling like it drags on. I don't know what Rob will rate it, but I'm hoping it gets a mythic because this absolutely deserves it.
This is such an amazing visualization of the song! While the level's designs are rather simplistic and use a lot of default objects they still looks very original and visually appealing. What makes the level so great to me is the seemingly perfect interplay between music, visuals and gameplay. In general making a level this long is already pretty remarkable but this level manages to stay consistent with its quality, it doesn't get repetitive and feels very immersive to me. The whole progression of the level and the overall atmosphere is just incredibly well executed. I think the level shares a lot of the qualities with Well Rested by Cometface, however it still has a completely different aesthetic and feels really unique on its own. This is surely one of my favorite levels this year so far. Fantastic work!
You didn't know how many times I've watched this video, man I got like dozens of levels becomes my favourite in 2024, and this level becomes a part of that
this level is amazing, like genuinely a masterpiece of real art. The transition from calm to intense is amazing, and 7:26 genuinely tugged at my heartstrings with the lyrics trying to break out over the guitar while slowly becoming more and more disarrayed, and having the gameplay become so horrendously spammy and messy that it takes away your control represents a panic attack really well.
This is so good man, it reminds me of maxxormens most recent levels decoration wise, just... rawer??? Gameplay looks fun and I especially like the progression here.
I think 2:15 to 4:48 is just straight up my favourite part of any rated level, just perfection. Especially the guitar, like HOLY SHIT THE GUITAR! Such a graceful peace, gives me goosebumps
Month late beginning was really confusing. I was wondering "this is cool but legendary?" I wait a few minutes and it's my favorite level ever. The gameplay is sick, the design is minimalist in the best way imaginable and it's just a joy. Insane job from rply. This needs an award
YOOO GLASS BEACH IN GD HELL YEAH (I love how the level really incorporates the song along with the album's (plasic death) colors. Cyan and orange go hard)
This level is an absolutely beautiful work of art that introduced me to glass beach. At each part I felt genuine emotions, from the pure rage of the "SOS" screams with the fiery red setting at 4:38, the desperation of the lyrics with the shaky camera and abyss angels (the creature in the album cover) frantically zipping across the foreground at 5:05, the somber loneliness of the dark and minimal decoration and slow gameplay at 5:44, and so on. After rewatching and analyzing the level multiple times, I can't help but notice that every single detail in this level feels intentional, crafted with love, and faithful to the song and the album it's from. I've listed some the details I've noticed below. It's this reason why so much praise for this level talks about its immaculate representation of the song. Personally, I consider this more than a just a GD level---it's a legit music video that non-GD players can appreciate. (YAP ALERT BELOW) Now onto the specific details I want to point and yap about. > The level consistently uses the turquoise and orange color palette of the cover album. > The level uses the cover art's abyss angel as a recurring element of decoration during the middle part (from the wave all the way to the "GO TO SLEEP" at the end of the climax (for example, 3:36, 4:04, 4:46, 5:12). I find it interesting that the abyss angel appears more frequently as the climax progress, from being background and block design to moving foreground elements---and then stops appearing after the climax (besides its final appearance in the swing part). I suspect there's some meaning to the abyss angel's appearance as symbolism, but that's beyond my analysis capability. > Referencing "cul-de-sac" at 3:38, the name of another song in the plastic death album > The decoration syncing with specific instruments (for example: the spiral background squishes out and the UFO structures slide to the left with the guitar at the 2:59 transition, spikes stabbing the gears synced to the drums and cymbals at 3:06, the foreground UI rectangles appearing to the beat of the drums before stretching away with the cymbal hit at 4:48, the UI and background lines pulsing with the guitar strings at 6:22, the UI row of dots scrolling to the arpeggios at 8:08, and so on) > Matching the theme and detail to the lyrics at each part. The level excellently does this multiple times, which include: --> the camera moves to the left when the lyrics say "to the left" in the UFO part at 3:14 and 3:21. --> the lyrics "plastic death, suck the marrow till there's nothing left" at 4:31 evokes a hopeless emotion which is complemented with a blue color palette, which is generally associated with sadness. --> the rainy setting and weather radar minimap at 6:56 alludes to the earlier lyric "weathered white, in tempestuous tides" during the mountain climb part. In that same part, when the lyrics say "rows of evergreens" at 6:57, giant triangular spikes appear in the background, resembling evergreen trees. The giant spikes disappear when that lyric ends.) > The black background structures in the swing part at 5:45 are callbacks to earlier parts of the level. Specifically, at 5:52 there's triangular thorns on the left and the curvy plant on the right, which are the structures from the beginning at 0:59. At 5:57, there's square bricks with stretched arcs which are the background structures from the beginning ship at 1:51. At 5:59, there's the warped hanging gears and spiral circles which are structures from the robot part at 2:21. At 6:04 there's the stack of squares with curved arc crosses and a pillar of splatter decals, also a callback to the background structures seen in the robot part at 2:39. At 6:07, there's the square corals from the UFO part at 3:00. At 6:10, there's the puzzle pieces from the UFO part at 3:21, and the sloped structures from the wave part at 3:27. At 6:12, there's floating cubes on the left, which are from the spider part at 3:55, and the pinwheels on the right, which are from the cube-to-wave transition at 3:25. The swing part then ends at 6:17 with the familiar abyss angel---which never appears again thereafter. > I love how the level interprets the song's ending: it begins with a bright, triumphant tone during the spam gameplay at 7:26 and then gradually changes to a darker, more distraught tone at 8:40 as the player begins to pass by ruined buildings with air siren horns representing the music's descending droning. I can go on and on about every detail in this level, but you get the point. I fricking love this level, I love this song, and I love glass beach.
The innovation in the level and the simplicity to coexist with it is phenomenal! Great use of the song, great use of visuals, and I may never be able to beat it fully, but you can bet I'm trying this out in at least practice or to see how far I can get!
I watched this a couple of times and it never felt like an almost 10 minute level 2-3 minutes max. Even if all the individual part are long they never feel repetitive, while some parts are slow and simple in decoration they make up for it by representing the song perfectly. Its not about impressive designs but the execution of making the designs not only feel like a part of the level but a part of the song. Truly amazing!
I'm so glad I had the opportunity to playtest this level. This level is one of the best levels I have ever had the pleasure to see. The song representation is top-notch. The decoration and progression of the level is so insane too. Easily in my top 5 favorite levels visually.
Having just beaten this level yesterday after obsessing over it for a month, this bar none is my favorite level ever made. Amazing visuals that plays with the song elements creatively on a very bold and contrasty color canvas, intensesity building done right in its gameplay, is difficult when tension rises and gives you just enough of a breather - absolute perfection in song representation as both a playing and viewing experience. Music choice is paramount to a level's experience and here it absolutely shattered all my expectations in creating such an adventure and fantastic experience throughout. It's going to be hard to top this one for me, I can't put into words how much I love this level. Rply has successfully cooked the finest meal ever.
I just can't stop revisiting this level. 😭😭 It's like every time I watch, I find a new small visual that I hadn't noticed before. There are so many small details throughout the 9 minutes that it just makes it so great to come back to watch. It's levels like these that make me love this game so much. Perfection.
@@flag_shSong rep is good, the deco really doesn't kick it for me and for many others. It seems like mythics are reserved for the most impressive of the impressive art levels.
When I first saw this I just skipped to the end since peolpe said it was really good, but after sitting through the entire thing now it just hits so much more. Really good level :)
i genuinely think that this is my favorite levels of all time after beating it (took me 979 attempts 😑), i'm still at awe looking at how beautiful this level is. the song representation, the progression, the decoration, and the gameplay is too good. it doesn't even feel like a level that is 9 minutes long, it doesn't feel annoying for me, that's how fun the level is (imo). what i really love about this level is its small details, especially at 4:28 where it's flashing images and the creature from plastic death. speaking of the creature from plastic death, i really love how the level presents the creature's presence. it starts off by stalking you, peeking from windows and hiding at 3:25, then it now starts appearing on the block design structures, and finally shutting your eyes at 5:10 saying; "GO TO SLEEP", and slowly fading away. its so good bro, i wish i could make levels more like this LOL good job rply, what a level, 10/10
Extremely reminiscent of Well Rested. I love the ideas that an extra long level can provide!!! rply did huge dubs here ngl, the themes presented are extraordinary!
This level will be remembered for a long time. I dont like comparing levels but that last sequence is the only thing in gd that manages to really hit that same spot that Well Rested did, whether intentional or not. Immensely satisfying way to wrap it up. Kept me captivated the entire way through
Just, wow. I don't need to say anything. Everything has already been said. Incredibly amazing. You can just see the inspiration from WELL RESTED in this, but done so in a way that is so unique compared to anything else done before. 7:30 is just fucking fantastic. rply did such a great fucking job and I hope to see this in the awards.
When you look this level to the end it feels like you completed some kind of adventure. So many places, so many parts. And music is just perfect. Perfectly represented feelings of music. One of my most favourite level and music!
This level is actually insane. That level of quality and song representation for 9 minutes is not a small feat by any means. Even something like Well Rested which is a pretty close relative to this level in terms of length definitely feels a bit toned back in its parts to accommodate its scope. While there are certainly more simple parts in this level, they feel like they match the song perfectly, and when the climaxes hit, the quality of the parts soar to something you would expect from a one or two minute level; not a nine minute saga. Really cool.
when i hopped on the premiere i thought i would see a banger, but i really didnt think i would see what probably is my favourite level of 2024 just wow this is phenomenal
god, this is a totally different feel of levels. Ive never seen triggers used this way. Movement being so static, gd has given me a whole new feeling of nostalgia since the invention of neo-design. I was upset not seeing more of them. I feel like this marks the end of it where the harmony of a design has been enraged and turned into pure chaos and despair. The platform move in such a way i've never seen in conventional levels. I've never seen a level more alive. I wish to see more neodesign in 2.2 because they have a style i love to be well executed.
I wasn't super impressed by this level for like the first half but some parts are visually stunning and the way it visualises the feeling of the music is artistic perfection
I didn’t like the first section and was waiting for this to be another stupid gd level and it was actually very cool. I do classical composition for college and it strikes me how gd level makers are a little bit like composers. They basically go, do this really hard thing for my art, and people do it. That’s really cool.
I first saw this and thought "HELL NAH I AINT BEATING NO 10 MINUTE LEVEL", then I beat this level and can say with confidence that this is my favorite lvl of all time
finally after 7 months world can see the level Ive been working on so hard. i really like how it turned out and hope yall like it too!

+2, calm parts like at the beginning are amazing for showing off the beauty of the song and creating a frame of reference for more climactic parts that wouldn’t hit nearly as hard without the valleys between them
It's called trying to recreate the atmosphere of the music
I mean it isn't as boring as he means but when you play it from 0, you kind of just want it to be done ASAP, since being stuck at it for really long then dying right after can be really boring too
@@Facem2008question why were u stuck on that part?
@@miliIguess Because of that one orb chain at the end of it
This level is a masterclass in song representation and progression.
It got legendary. But it’s mostly cause of the replacement song
I be coming back to this comment section just to seek validation for how awesome this level is.
Me too lol

2.2 perfected this is PHENOMENAL
Best level of 2024
unrelated but celph sifer pfp 🔥
Idk about all that but it certainly is good. Great even.
2 minutes and 30 seconds in and i take that back

Geometry dash IS art
absolutely
You didn't know how many times I've watched this video, man I got like dozens of levels becomes my favourite in 2024, and this level becomes a part of that
I feel like I’ve listened to commatose for the first time again, mythic for me
this is SICK!!!! i love the contrast between the blue and orange
Masterpiece
feels like cicada3302. absolute banger
huge cicada vibes fr
glass beach was inspired by cicada3301 too so it makes sense
this level is amazing, like genuinely a masterpiece of real art.
This and CITYFADE are levels of the year for me currently they’re just so good, this might just be better but both are incredible
i've never seen a level that's hit me in the feels this hard. this is absolutely mindblowing, legendary worthy for sure
I think 2:15 to 4:48 is just straight up my favourite part of any rated level, just perfection. Especially the guitar, like HOLY SHIT THE GUITAR! Such a graceful peace, gives me goosebumps
Month late
beginning was really confusing. I was wondering "this is cool but legendary?"
I wait a few minutes and it's my favorite level ever. The gameplay is sick, the design is minimalist in the best way imaginable and it's just a joy. Insane job from rply. This needs an award
if this level gets nominated im voting for it
YOOO GLASS BEACH IN GD
HELL YEAH
(I love how the level really incorporates the song along with the album's (plasic death) colors. Cyan and orange go hard)
these are the best kinds of GD levels. even better when they're demon difficulty.
(YAP ALERT BELOW)
Now onto the specific details I want to point and yap about.
> Referencing "cul-de-sac" at 3:38, the name of another song in the plastic death album
> The decoration syncing with specific instruments (for example: the spiral background squishes out and the UFO structures slide to the left with the guitar at the 2:59 transition, spikes stabbing the gears synced to the drums and cymbals at 3:06, the foreground UI rectangles appearing to the beat of the drums before stretching away with the cymbal hit at 4:48, the UI and background lines pulsing with the guitar strings at 6:22, the UI row of dots scrolling to the arpeggios at 8:08, and so on)
> Matching the theme and detail to the lyrics at each part. The level excellently does this multiple times, which include:
--> the camera moves to the left when the lyrics say "to the left" in the UFO part at 3:14 and 3:21.
The giant spikes disappear when that lyric ends.)
> The black background structures in the swing part at 5:45 are callbacks to earlier parts of the level.
I fricking love this level, I love this song, and I love glass beach.
very cool
This might be the best XL GD level I’ve seen this year oh my god I wish more people made stuff like this I love it!
Blud casually drops the craziest banger of the century
This level takes so many different styles and blends them together so well in this 9 minute masterpiece. This might be the best level of 2024.
Can we have a best song representation award this year?
I know, it's so well done.
I mean this level does it pretty well, but theres a lot of other layouts and levels out there that do it better
@@moonlapse5108True that.
@@moonlapse5108 it says the best song representation, and i dont think ive ever seen a level that could ever be done so beautifully as commatose.

While I consider half the mythics so far not mythic worthy, I'm very suprised to see this as just legendary. Best level I've seen in the game
I didn't think I'd like this so much from the beginning but WOW this level is good, the slow beginning was worthwhile for the rest of it.
I just can't stop revisiting this level. 😭😭 It's like every time I watch, I find a new small visual that I hadn't noticed before. There are so many small details throughout the 9 minutes that it just makes it so great to come back to watch. It's levels like these that make me love this game so much. Perfection.
Thank god, I thought I was the only one.
This is exactly why we need the XXL length in 2.21 or 2.3.
This deserves mythic
So true
I really like how unique this is! Definitely deserved the legendary
Legendary is perfect, because decor isn't good
@@bweastwhat are you on about
@@flag_shSong rep is good, the deco really doesn't kick it for me and for many others. It seems like mythics are reserved for the most impressive of the impressive art levels.

The atmosphere is absolutely PHENOMENAL
Wow. I like unique ideas in terms of block designs and some of effects, especially since they are quite original
7:57 is the best part in any gd lvl ive ever watched
without any hesitation this is now my favorite level .
Rply is back after trick room with another banger!!!
being able to keep up such consistent quality over 9+ minutes it's crazy, that's some serious dedication, awesome stuff!
This is THE Journey!
The fake endscreen blew me away when it just kept on going. Movie.
fake endscreen?
When I first saw this I just skipped to the end since peolpe said it was really good, but after sitting through the entire thing now it just hits so much more. Really good level :)
most definitely my favorite level of all time. I very rarely feel anything from levels these days, but this is genuinely incredible. Amazing work
I now consider this the official music video for the song
the spiral background at 2:20 is crazy how do u even make that,, its so wobbly and lively
i genuinely think that this is my favorite levels of all time
after beating it (took me 979 attempts 😑), i'm still at awe looking at how beautiful this level is. the song representation, the progression, the decoration, and the gameplay is too good. it doesn't even feel like a level that is 9 minutes long, it doesn't feel annoying for me, that's how fun the level is (imo).
what i really love about this level is its small details, especially at 4:28 where it's flashing images and the creature from plastic death. speaking of the creature from plastic death, i really love how the level presents the creature's presence. it starts off by stalking you, peeking from windows and hiding at 3:25, then it now starts appearing on the block design structures, and finally shutting your eyes at 5:10 saying; "GO TO SLEEP", and slowly fading away. its so good bro, i wish i could make levels more like this LOL
good job rply, what a level, 10/10
I agree this level looks great!
the part where the sea angel wraps its "wings" around the player avatar is so simple yet so cool i love this level and i love glass beach
level of the century
Extremely reminiscent of Well Rested. I love the ideas that an extra long level can provide!!! rply did huge dubs here ngl, the themes presented are extraordinary!
this is gonna be my favorite GD level for at LEAST 3 months
best level in the game no questions asked

If there's anything that deserves mythic it's this
This level is actually insane. Really cool.
this is by far my favorite level in 2024 so far, I absolutely love the attention to detail in a lot of parts, and how it all ties into the song, peak
I love how it lowers your expectations in the beginning but is an absolute masterpiece by the end
Absolutely phenomenal work! So much emotion and beauty in designs!
this lowk introduced me to glass beach
when i hopped on the premiere i thought i would see a banger, but i really didnt think i would see what probably is my favourite level of 2024 just wow this is phenomenal
One of the best levels in GD. Fantastic job
I can see my eyes on the best insane demon of 2024 / 2.2
god, this is a totally different feel of levels. I wish to see more neodesign in 2.2 because they have a style i love to be well executed.
i came here as a glass beach fan and found out that this existed from some random comment and OH MY GOD this is phenomenal
big well rested vibes right here
I wasn't super impressed by this level for like the first half but some parts are visually stunning and the way it visualises the feeling of the music is artistic perfection
I didn’t like the first section and was waiting for this to be another stupid gd level and it was actually very cool. I do classical composition for college and it strikes me how gd level makers are a little bit like composers. They basically go, do this really hard thing for my art, and people do it. That’s really cool.
I am honestly speachless.... this is unfathomable.
what the FUCK DID I JUST WATCH, WHY AM I **FEELING??**
No unsightreadable gameplay, no blind jumps, no inconsistent indicators, just 9 minutes of peak song representation
It’s giving me cityfade vibes idk why
This looks AMAZING! I NEED TO PLAY!
