So few comments! Just an old fire captain here. Thanks for warming the heart today! I have worked with many fire apparatus, modern and classic. Love the American La France rigs, quite distinctive. Restored a department apparatus, a Crown Firecoach, to train my crew. We made it so pretty, it's known today as Big John with the Orange County Fire Authority. This warms the heart. This is 20 years ago, hehe. Big John was named in honor of Monsignior John Sammon. He was the department Chaplain, a dear friend. He helped pin my badge with my mother when I graduated the academy. Again, good times. I joined the Fire Service for a different reason than many, I joined in the spirit of Saint Florian
Ya know whats really soulless? Those damn LED warning lights. I miss the Federal Beacon Rays and those Dietz beacons. And what is disgusting is fire trucks using those ineffective electronic sirens. A fire truck isn't a firetruck unless it has a working Federal Q2B bug grinder mechanical siren! lol
ariens fox shelton connecticut is going to celebrate 100 years of her service and still the guardian of shelton,i remember this truck and remember this truck pumping out the housatonic river during the bf,goodrich fire of 1975,for 6 days straight that fire raged and that truck took it like a champ,in that time the bf,goodrich fire was the biggest arson fire in the u,s at that time, there is video footage of that fire and the ariens at work and kicking ass,
Too bad. I would have liked to have seen the entire documentary. At least NOW I know where the secrecy, the drunkenness and the constant badgering to the town councils for half million dollar parade firetrucks by volunteer fire departments such as in towns like MINE actually comes from!
in our city if you need oxygen at a fire you get charged a minimum of $240.. if you need a stretcher or medical attention your bill starts at $522.00..you only get help if you can afford it.
