I understand completely about the breakdowns. I will say, WGTs wasn't that great to work with when it comes to mechanical issues. I think it's a little better now, but getting ahold of James was impossible.
My generator went out in 2020 and I was one of the only people to be able to find a new one. It was $8,000 plus down time. This year, a piston blew up inside of it. More $$$ and down time.
My water heater also broke and cost me 2 weeks waiting on a new one and install.
Those are fixes that are completely out of my capabilities to repair which sucks because I'm dependent on supply and the shops schedule.
RV shops can take months to get into. If you find a small good one, treat them like gold! The big ones around here are booked out forever.
I got lucky and lots of customer came to the house where I was plugged in during the generator wait time. That kept me afloat. ♥️

I can give you some insight to the generator van life lol. I have a 2020 wagn tails Dyna groom so that’s the longer Ford model, I got it brand new and had it for 2 years now. The genny requires about 15$ in gas per work day , an oil change once a month that’s 150$ and every 6 months it needs a tune up and that’s about 250$. I had a belt snap last week and that cost me 1100$. So thats wear and tear and took 2 years to happen. But probably my fault for not checking the oil and might have over heated. But anyways any big repair is usually 1000$ on a genny. I can still work tho and plug into houses when they take it out to fix. They are finicky machines but kinda worth it. Saves time of plugging into each house and only needs to run during hair dryer or needing air conditioning. Anyways the ford part of the van hasn’t had any isssues besides tires and brakes which aren’t cheap but essential. Anyways i think what you spend on alternators is like atleast equal to the gas and maintenance of a generator but you can still use it with wag n tails if it goes down. Can Hanvey vans be plugged into a customer house if the alternator goes down? I would be scared to rely on just an alternator all day

Generators are worth it. I wanted a hanvey van before, My boyfriend always advised against it so I'm glad I did not make the decision to purchase one.
When I had a gasoline generator it did need work occasionally even though I kept up with the maintenance.
it needed different things and it is pricey. Now that I have a diesel generator, I've had no problems. It's pricey to start with though but it's better on fuel usage and it is quiet and it just purrs along starts up every time. And it's great for hot weather.
Everything adds up though. I know I've had an Onan gasoline generator and it was pricey for repairs when needed.

You can plug in but you won't have AC if you're not idling. I've got my eye on the new WNT with the inverter.

Damn that’s a lotta break downs for that other girl and you. I was sold on the wag n tails look of the inside of the van , but in all honesty they are very kind on the phone I have called them a bunch of times and they walked me through some minor issues, they def have the patience and the team to help you . And you’re right I take mine to the rv place and local generator place for repairs so it’s convenient. I hope your truck stays up and running for a while knocking on wood for us both !I would raise your price maybe and put in a savings for repair account and maybe see if they can do routine cleaning on your alternator every 4-6 months if that’s possible. Good luck 🍀

Of course I do Not know what kind of insurance you or your friend have However there Is insurance that Absolutely covers for loss for wages from mechanical issues. At one point I was improperly insured thru State Farm now I have Great coverage! And my broker is awesome. Let me know if you'd like the information, I'd be glad to share. :)
And WagnTails has a Non-generator option now.

@@rekiatgiwa4737 Yes! And if you have a great truck... like a Tundra, - a workhorse of a truck- there will be little to none down time. IF any work is needed for the tow vehicle- one could always Rent a truck to pull trailer. You stay in Business.
A trailer is straight forward. Keep up with maintenance with axels (only every 6 months) and checking oil and changing oil in diesel gene after so many hours of use and you will stay on the road. Diesel gene is pricey but it is a workhorse and keeps on purring along.

Not being able to comprehend the troubleshooting solutions or do basic maintenance on the vehicle you depend on for your livelihood is not hanvey’s fault. “ I’m a woman I don’t know what I’m doing”! Lol with that being said the generator is a better more reliable system especially for those with limited mechanical knowledge. EGR valves are usually 2 bolts and can be cleaned with carburetor cleaner and a rag. The alternator is 3 bolts and a belt and they make upgraded higher amp options that have warranty. Your obviously smart enough to be a good groomer run a business, make UA-cam videos and keep yourself looking good doing it. Get a tool set Watch some UA-cam videos and learn some basic mechanical knowledge. Good luck.

I do all of the maintenance Hanvey recommends and my vehicle is under warranty so I'm not paying to fix the stuff myself when I don't have to and voiding my warranty, that's what a smart business owner does.
