Having two daughters of a similar age I can appreciate these vids. Maybe not for hard core car people but there is plenty of that all over UA-cam, so I see room for this format.
Was waiting for y’all to start singing 5:53 “the wheels on the buzz, go round and round”😂 Jen has a plethora of knowledge! 8:05 😍 11:18… no tuna melters in the back? 🤭
THE CAR CAR NUT reviewer on UA-cam tested this for 1 week.. they found the milage was incredibly BAD in very cold weather,, ,, I think they said the specs said 200 miles at 80% charge,, they got 85 miles with normal driving.. this car also has cheap DRUM BRAKES in the rear .. so skip this year and wait for the next year's model
It’s far FAR too expensive for what it is and the crappy range. Still a non-starter. For $40k maybe. I’ll pick up a used one after the first owner takes a bath on it.
5:00 - Yep. Tires make all the difference. I had a BMW i3 for many years, with its rear wheel drive and laughably skinny tires. But with the (one available at the time) Bridgestone studless snow tires, it handled snowy mountain passes and trips to ski resorts better than my AWD Subaru on "all season" tires did.
@@CapitanHarlockisback We've traveled in our Bolt which has more range but slower recharge time. I suspect a Buzz would need less total time charging than our car would on the same trip.
Did you start your journey with the van having been parked in a garage overnight or was it outside in the elements? It would be helpful to see how people without garages fair coming out their door after a cold night, getting the vehicle warmed up, go to Eldora, let it sit for 6 or hours, then warm up and return your office.
Interesting to see how it copes with the snow. I’ve just ordered my ID Buzz but I’m Scotland the awd version only comes in GTX spec so black/dark grey interior with red stitching which looks much more modern. It also has a different from and rear bumpers, and 21” wheels that don’t look retro. I can’t wait. Oh and over here it costs £71k for the lwb GTX 6 seater. 🏴
Never heard of that ski resort. I normally stay in Frisco and ski the ones around there. Is it more easy going or is it pretty technical? I'm only just beyond the blues, not comfortable on blacks yet.
@@WW-wf8tu Don't you remember them taking the VW to a mountain with snowboards? Although in that one they may have snow mobile'd. I am not 100% sure, but this does seem familiar
I never liked the old VW vans. But I say this one, with the right paint is a hit on looks from the side view. The front needs some work. The white and blue looks good on it. The EV part may limit its appeal though. Still wouldn’t own one but wouldn’t blame anyone else to. Waiting to see how long for someone to do a daisy flower themed one.
I am warming up to the VW IDBuzz. When I first saw the early ones, specifically the shorty European ones, I was definitely not a fan. But now that I am seeing the American spec versions with their colorful stylish interiors and tasteful outside style, configuration and colors, I am warming up to it quite a bit. Doesn’t hurt that there are two great looking woman adding much appreciated content to the review. Paid a lot more attention than I would have with Roman or Tommy doing the review. The snowy ski park parking lot made for a cool background setting.
"Like the Hippo from 'Madagascar.'" "Gloria!" Thanks Jen and Mary. Glad that TFLEV is expanding their viewer base. BTW my dad's Vanagon was excellent in the snow, once you learned how to shift and scrape frost off the windows. :)
I like the van idea coming back, but these VWs are way overpriced... especially with the poor range capability! They need a model in the 40K range and they will sell. It just seems that the manufacturers are so out of touch with what the consumer wants and can afford. Time will tell!
It would be interesting to directly compare an EV with a gas car driving up and down a hill. Some gas cars have a range calculator. I’m sure you have the same effect, getting worse than normal mpg uphill but better than normal coming back down.
lol, no other review starts with, “we’ve a third of a tank of gas and nearly 221 miles of range.” Until range is never mentioned the general population won’t adopt EVs.
If I was a worldwide dictator I would make mandatory the Hyundai manual regenerative paddles. It's so easy and necessary . And also mandatory manual handbrakes like they used to be
The steering wheel is not leather. The interior is animal free. Also the steering wheel might start peeling, because other owners say after 3 months,it's peeling.
"Nederland" is the Dutch word for "The Netherlands". As in "ik woonde in Nederland," or "I lived in the Netherlands." I have never been to Nederland, CO, but the other Nederland was great. I spent two years there. New rule: if you go to a ski slope with snowboards, you absolutely must snowboard on camera.
@@TFLEV Snow boarding tip: Make sure your securely fastened to both binders before going down the slope.(as it will hurt when 1 end of the board swings around and hits you in the head when you fall lol) When you wipe out, make sure your head is pointed up the slope.(as being buried face 1st downward on the slope makes for a very difficult self recovery)
I thought I went back in time to the 80s with the eyeliner and heavy makeup. Now you can tell them apart by who has 80s makeup (Mary) and who doesn't (Jen).
I don’t know why other car companies outside of Tesla keep making EVs with around 250 miles of range roughly. As an EV car guy myself, should be in the 300s to really feel at ease about going to local areas or a potential road trip itself. Since you cannot charge these cars 100% all the time you are actually getting less range which isn’t a good thing
Clearly a premium vehicle but I still can’t get past the Raptor levels of money you pay for this thing. BUT I am a fan of it, I like the styling, materials and the thoughtful amenities. Plus any commonsensical person would/should know that you buy an EV is you have a place to charge it at home. And you will never have to worry about range on the day to day.
You ladies should accept my cross country challenge to Utah. I will drive a real vehicle (gasoline powered) and you take the Buzz. We will tour lots of great Utah sights (slot canyons, national parks, etc) and see how well the Buzz does. Jen, look into removing one of the second row seats (or both) and placing blankets and pillows around to make a nice area for your dog.
I'd lke to see more people talking about the fire hazard of these things along with how impractical they are. I mean being a fire hazard is also impractical. When one electrical car fire can destroy a parking lot full of cars, make approaching the area unsafe from the fumes and destroy the parking or building complex as well causing it to be a toxic waste area - extreeeemely impractical and inconvenient. You cant just throw water at EV fires either and call it a day. Stick to your gasoline cars until the fire risk is next to impossible from another battery technology. Personally I would avoid hybrids as well. Forgot to mention Tesla EV's dont have mechanical door levers and locks so if there is a malfunctio nyou are locked in, so, how's that for charming. You have to kick a window out to escape. Hope everyone is very athletic. This VW seems to have door levers at least.
How is this any different than Gas cars? Please do more research and you will find that gas cars are just or more dangerous and likely to catch fire. EV's do not catch fire often. When one does, of course the media is all over it, making it seem like they ALL catch fire. And in my research, the fire is usually caused by the charger, not the vehicle.
Fantastic answer gregpochet. It's like smoking, drugs, alcohol or war. No one cares about that, but if an EV is presented they run to make comments against them and defend the gasoline infrastructure.
@@gregpochet4812 it's funny how some people forget that the C in ICE is for combustion. 🤷 Sometimes they get converted from ICE to ECE (External Combustion Engine) 😜
