  • This is the original opening and closing titles to Mickey in Arabia (1932), the last Disney short to be distributed by Columbia. One interesting thing here is the presence of the MPPDA logo (below the sponge under the blackboard), even though it’s almost blurred-out in this (likely unofficial) 16mm Kodak UK print dated 1948. The soundtrack is borrowed from the Treasures dvd, as this print was silent.

Good find to start this friday on my country (Chile), it's interesting think silent film prints still existing on a time where sound film prints are more rentable for movie theaters, clubs, schools and prisons (and that time was the late 1940s)

It’s nice to see you uploading again! Besides, I remember when you won a 16mm print of Donald’s Dilemma with original titles last year.

It’s not very often this will happen, but Donald’s Dilemma was actually the next thing I had planned to post. And it’s up right now!

Wow, that's a rare one! This may very well be the only Columbia-distributed Mickey short with the MPPDA logo on the opening, but I could be wrong!

Between 1930 and 1932, after that, Walt Disney make a deal with United Artists, until 1937 when the studio make a new deal with RKO Radio Pictures.

@@samuelcarrasquillo4590 Yes. The Silly Symphonies from The Skeleton Dance in 1929 to The Bird Store in early 1932, Mickey Mouse from Fiddling Around (1930) to, well, this one.

The MPPDA logo here seems to be similar to the one from the 1932 silly symphonies titles

@@vintagetvandexciting Well, at least Arabian-influenced, I guess. It’s one of those little embellishments they sometimes added to the Mickey theme in 1932 to set the mood before the action started (The Klondike Kid and Mickey’s Good Deed are other examples).
