- Lots of snow. Guess what I'm doing. But of course, even my day off wouldn't be complete without a little adventure mixed in. If you like to see some wintery sights and forests of Ontario, join me for a ride with my buddies on some of our local OFSC snowmobile trails. No hot-dogging, or crazy carv'in or jumps, just a nice ride through some beautiful trails. It is a long video so feel free to stop in for a few minutes, or stay as long as you like. Cheers!

GP, thanks for taking us along for the ride 😀
Thanks for sharing a beautiful outing. My wife said to Me remember all the good times we had back in the 70s!
Great views Gord. I enjoyed you taking me along for the ride. Thanks. Dan
The highland trails has some beautiful country and thanks for taking us along.
Looks like big fun.
Oh man I used to live in snow like that and only got to ride snowmobiles a couple times. Great video dude. I really enjoyed it. Cheers from Tokyo!
Thanks for taking me on that nice snowmobile ride GP. I enjoyed the whole trip on my couch and stayed warm too. Cheers
LOL! Good morning Sam!
That was awesome thank you 🙏🏻
Cheers Skippy!
Thank You for taking US along was a nice change up Love to see the frozen Waterfall when the trail clears up. Get the Snow Groomer Out
Looks like lots of fun to me! KC Don 😉
You have snow! Beautiful snow. This is the way winter should be. I like your snowmobile!
Cheers and thanks JH!
Looked like a great time GP, beautiful!
Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
Love all the videos but particularly enjoyed this one!
Really beautiful footage Gord.
Cheers Jason!
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
The whole Gang is dressed with sleds warmed up. While waiting for GP to get the lighting and camera angle correct on the whole start up procedures!🤣 Sure looks like a good time and beautiful country!👍
Now that is what I'd call a Trial.. Around Here the Trails are Groomed 2 Lane Highways. All Trails Here are 2 way.
Thanks For the Ride along Gord.
Mike M.
Great to see you having fun in the snow. Yeah, the few bad apples have closed trails in WI too. When I saw your buddy leaning downhill on sled, I knew that was coming. Been there, done that.
Hey GP.... I found myself ducking under the branches with you guys....! Talk about reality video! What fun that must have been! I used to ride motorcycles but not in 15 years or more..... Be safe!
LOL! She was a bumpy ride SD! Have a nice week out there!
Hello Gord,
Great video on ride in the open woods. Never cold when dressed for it. Lots of years since I have tried those machines. Still have the desire to get out there.
Be well
All the best Kevin!
Great Video GP, still looks like summer, some days here in Nova Scotia, today +7Deg C. More grass showing than snow. Glad some folks are getting some sledding in.
Feel free to show more snowmobiling videos!
Thanks for the ride along. I was headed to the Bancroft area for the family day weekend. Had to cancel today with by buddies because of the warm and weather weather. Only done 350 miles total this winter. It sure sucks
How's she goin'? Looked like a great day for snow machines eh!! Some nice country. I found when I was on the sled being cold was never an issue. Thanks for taking us along!!
Little advice to tourist. Go with a group if you are new to snowmobiling. If you get in trouble a night in the bush can be deadly.
Great advice Jim. Great example here why you need to ride with a group. No chance my friend would have got that sled out by himself. Cheers!
It looks like you guys were having a nice time. Awesome video.👍
You were right in my backyard on those trails, I atv those trails all summer. Thanks for posting. I was wondering what the trails were like this year. It's been a difficult season for sure.
Thanks for sharing your ride. Beautiful country, and a fun adventure.
Thanks for taking us along on your ride! Beautiful trails!!
Great video 👌 with best regards from Sweden
Beautiful ride, and thanks for the views. Great way to spend a day off.
Great ride along, beautiful sights, I did get a new Polaris Sportsman 450 HO, those guys ride faster then I like to travel
Hi GP,
I just spent this past weekend at my cottage in Northern Wisconsin. I can certainly understand land owners not allowing sleds on their property anymore. I was really disappointed by the number of inconsiderate people sledding over the weekend. I surprised there are not more accidents. Very discouraging for such a fun sport.
Looks like you might need to bring your chainsaw along on the trails, as some of those fallen trees make it a it challenging. Glad you had a fun time!
Good Evening GP, Could you Believe that in the Middle of the City of Arvida where I'm currently living, I have 3 of my neighbors who have snowmobiles and they are using it directly from their home going to the official provincial trails near by ( with in 1km !!! ) Things happen very fast 😮😮 Be Safe and Keep Warm Cheers 🍻🍻
LOL! That's great Dave! So fortunate!
Beautiful scenery. Such a treat to tag along. Thanks!
Very nice and beautiful scenery. I miss it. Have not been riding since the winter my daughter was born and she is 16 now. I still have the sled, just wouldn't trust it on the trails anymore, not without a lot of work. We've seen the same thing around here with trail closures. People don't stay on the trails and don't respect the landowner's property and they say enough. Sad.
Love the snowmobile content! Thanks Gord!
Looks like a great way to spend the day👍
Boy! You really have to keep an eye out in case someone is coming from the opposite direction!
Yes indeed Bob! - it gets mighty thin in alot of parts of the trail. Cheers!
That was fun. Cheers!
Cheers Ernest!
What a great day for a ride GP! Although I have not been on a snowmobile for many years, it sure looked like fun! Brings back memories!! Cheers!
Good morning Michael! Lots of fun - and we even got some sunshine. Cheers!
Now THAT looked fun!!! Great footage Gord, thanks for bringing us along for the ride!
Cheers Chris!
Not much beats the fun of sweating bullets trying to get a sled unstuck.
LOL! true Mike..:))
Thanks for bring us all along Gord. Beautiful scenery to be sure. 👍
Morning Paul!
Sure look like a perfect day for riding. Thanks for taking us with you was a great ride. Haven’t been in several years and miss it. We used to ride 4-5000 miles a winter. Lost my riding buddy and have rode much since. 👍✊
Oh geez, I am sure you do miss it. The guys i was with didn't ride at all last year for health reasons so i did not get out much. I can understand and hope these guys will still be able to ride for a while yet. Cheers Bob!
Thanks for the trail ride GP
Awesome ! Cheers!!
Such a great video you’re very lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country thanks for taking us along
Morning Mark!
Thanks Gord for takes us along on the ride that was great haven't been snowmobiling in years sleds are a lot different now got my first machine in 1969 snow prince 19 HP electric start 545.00 brand new I was working at the coop feed mill in Moncton New Brunswick I think I was making 1.45 and hour not sure on that take care buddy sorry for the big story have a great week
LOL! wow - now that's a story. Yup, things have changed alot - I can't believe the cost of these machines now. $1.45/hr ??? :) Cheers Tom!
Two of my favorite things, Kubota and Ski-Doo! I live in Northwest PA USA and ride in NY state but this year has been a bust for snow. I haven't had my 2015 GSX 600 out of the "sled shed" yet. :( Thanks for taking us along Beautiful views for sure.
Morning! Yes here too - only the 2nd time the trails were open ( and they were Yellow). The last few winters have been really odd. Hope you are able to get it out for a nice run before the Spring!
Nice video, beautiful weather 👌🏻always wanted to try a snowmobile 👌🏻😎🤘🏻
Great video and scenery wish we got that type of snow where I live.
Make me cold just to watch you going down those ice trails. I guess all the years I drove a motorcycle from 15. 42 years old. Riding in freezing temperatures made me cold nature.
Nice machine!! Looks like you guys had a fun day. Always nice to get out and enjoy life! Cheers
Beautiful. My wife and I just got back from old forge -NY. Big lack of snow there but we have none in the southern tier of -NY. This was a nice video. So much snow you are lucky.
Great looking trail
Watching this makes me miss snowmobiling even more. I used to ride around Ramara when I was a kid. Cheers Gord.
A very nice change to all the other great content you provide Gord. My wife and I just love hitting the trails and retirement allows that to happen more often. It's been a lousy winter though with these up and down temperatures. Mild and rain this week followed by cold and snow at the end of the week. Crazy.
I won a snowmobile "extractor" at our local club event. That might have been handy to pull your buddy out. It's called the Snowbunge and there are a couple of models, I have the cobra. You can get them at Royal Distributing. Always tow from the ski as well, you can rip the front bumper off very easily.
Trail closures are a concern for sure and a real shame that it's a very small group that are responsible. It looks like you need new trail pass as the one on your sled has expired.
Thanks a lot for taking us along on your day off Gord, had a great ride and enjoyed the scenery with you guys. Sure hate to see folks ruining the fun for everyone and causing the trails to be closed but I do understand folks wanting their privacy and it needs to be respected. Glad Stevie didn't get hurt when the Ski-Doo went over. they can be rough to man handle back up sometimes especially when you're out by yourself, always nice to travel in pairs on those outings so you do have help on hand. Stay safe and keep up the great videos and fun. Fred.
Good morning Fred! Yes we had a nice day out there. Steve was ok - lots of spears in that marsh ( beaver cut saplings) and he missed falling on any. A few were caught up under the front suspension which we eventually dug under and cleared out. Have a nice week Fred!
Looks like sleds have come a long way since 1969 when i had my sled !! steering was the big issue then. Your trails could use a good grooming as well , looks like .
LOL! I think so Nelson. Cheers!
NIce scenery!!!
Morning Joe!
Looked like a beautiful day and gorgeous scenery, but it's not all fun and games is it?!😁 Glad he didn't get hurt or do any damage to the sled. Thanks for the ride! 🤩👨🚒
Nice to see you finally got out on the sled, Gord. Some beautiful country up there, but it’s a shame so many trails are being closed because of irresponsible, selfish riders going off trail and/or using loud (illegal) aftermarket exhaust cans. Part of this can be blamed on the manufacturers who promoted the “crossover” sleds like crazy, so now people want to get off the trails and play in the deep snow. I can’t blame them - I have done it in the BC mountains and it’s a ton of fun - but it gets trails closed very quickly when done on private property. As for the loud “I think I’m going faster but I’m not” exhaust, that’s just pure selfishness and a great way to annoy every home and business near the trails (not to mention the wildlife).
I too was out in that cold last weekend at a camp for our annual “boys sabbatical weekend”. We rode 3 days, one of which never got above -27C, but as you say, we were dressed for it and were fine. I also just got out with my son and his friend yesterday on the upper Mazinaw/Griffith trails. They were in excellent condition and the scenery was of course, stunning. Unfortunately I think the trails will all close down with the coming record warmth this week. Another short season, but good while it lasted! Best regards to you and the family. Cheers!
Good evening Gord
Well…. That was a Great video.. I enjoyed it a lot…
Your lucky I am still talking to you. Hahahaha
I am a Cat man.. hahaha
Just kidding.. hahaha
I did laugh pretty good when he tipped it over. Bin there done that more times then I can count.. hahaha
It’s not east getting a 600 lbs sled out. Hahaha
That warmed all three of you up pretty good…
I have rode sense I was 9.. Just a few years ago.. hahaha
I have 5 Cats sitting in one of my sheds…
I hear them calling me right now! hahahah
Have done a lot of riding in Quebec years ago. Great trail systems as well.
And yes.. One bad apple is all it takes…
Rent a sleds I stay as far away from them as I can…
They are the people that get hurt the most down here…
Had one today in the northern NH that ran into a tree…
That was all over the sled forms I am on.
All right time for me to stop rambling on and on..
Thank you for sharing your adventure …
Like I said I enjoyed it.
Sally says Hi !
As always stay safe and always be kind
Cheers my Friend…
Gord , how could the trails be bad ? You are on a Gen4 Ski-Doo . Come On Man. I'm sitting at home dealing with the Big C and not able to ride , I wish I had those trails to ride on.
LOL! I think I was whining....LOL!
Looked like decent trails Gord. It’s been a few years, but I have a LOT of miles spent on Quebec trails. Never been to Ontario tho. Very good times….
Thanks so much Gord that's video I've been waiting for you to post. Has not been a good year for sleds in Michigan this year. Looks like snowmobile club has some work to do on trail. Trail closers happen every where, some people just can't stay on trail.
Morning Brian! Yes first time out - just another winter of poor weather. This is only the 2nd time the trails have been open and they were yellow. My hips and legs got quite a workout. LOL. Take care!
Amazing world. I have seen many ski slopes. But I've never seen snowmobile trails. O_O
You’re lucky. We haven’t had one good snowstorm yet this year. May end up going to upper Michigan or tug hill New York.
Looks maybe bring a chain saw and loppers. Lol
Beautiful area. In the early 80's we trailered to the UP of Michigan. The trail took us by an abandoned ski area, abandoned copper mines, over old RR trussells, switch backs to the top of Brockway mountain, and the 6 person town of Copper Harbor where luckily we could get gasoline.
LOL! Sounds like a pretty awesome ride. Cheers!
Nice video Gord - you look pretty comfortable on the machine, you grow up with one. Looks like they need to run the groomer a little, yes trails are getting closed all the time for the reasons you stated. Cheers and stay safe. Pete
Morning Buddy! Yes since I was young but then went alot of years without one in between. Yup, the weather has been bad so pretty hard for them to get through and groom. The trails have been closed ( red) for most all winter here. Cheers Pete!
@@GPOutdoors Same here, did a lot of riding in N Bay before leaving and only since got another one for ice fishing. Cheers and enjoy your week.
I just saw you turn left off of Allen onto Shepherd you got yourself a real life stalker😂❤❤❤☃️☃️☃️
LOL! Cheers!
A great view of the trails! Looks like you should have brought your electric chainsaw to do a little cleanup along the trails!😄In southern Massachusetts we still haven't gotten any appreciable snow this year. Cheers from MA!
Great video Gord. Looks like you guys had a fantastic day for a ride. Thanks for taking us along. Is that cord for a heated face shield? How do you like it?
Evening
Where you on your way to The Gut before you turned around?
Gord grab yourself a sno bungee they work great
always have to be a few who mess it up for everyone else - Nothing like riding a bumpy trail absolutely horrible Looks like you still got a good ride in
LOl! Yup it was but we kept to a slow pace and had lots of sunshine. My legs were a bit sore though. - Cheers Mike!
I have been waiting for a video like this!! I love snowmobiling in the U.P. of Michigan, I am supposed to go the 18th, but this warm weather is no good. How many kilometers do you normally ride in a day?
Morning Mike. I have not been out much the last few winters - just weird weather like this year. Only the 2nd time we had open trails this year so far. Usually we will clock about 200 kms on a day trip. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for the 18th. Our weather here this week is not looking good. Have fun out there!
great looking trail.does someone maintain the trails?
Morning C2! Yes indeed - all volunteers (believe it or not). So thankful for them. Cheers!
What were you using for a camera? I have a gopro mounted to my helmet, but can't seem to get more than about 8 min of record time before the battery dies.
Can you trim trees on the trail , I noticed a lot of widow makers?
Hey Gord, nice clip. I'm thinking of getting a tundra for my woodlot. I'm asking everybody I can about getting a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke. Many opinions out there. Looks like you have a 2 Stroke. How do you like that? It's $2k extra for the 4 stroke.
How do you like the Gen 4 compared to the Blizzard? That a 600 or 850?
Guess he couldn't find an orange sled?
80% of Ontario trails are red today. And may remain that way.
😪
GP you get a new snow machine ?
It's a couple of years old Skeets. Just didn't get out much the last couple of years. Cheers!
As beautiful as that is the sound would drive me nuts, It always has and that's why I never bought one.
Hopefully in the next couple of years electric will become viable, and then you may see me on the trails :).
Do you carry sled rescue equipment (a winch, rope, shovels etc.) ?
Morning Dave! Yes it can get to you after a while - my helmet insulates alot from the noise but. also wear ear plugs ( isotunes) and listen to music. Yes indeed - tow straps, hatchet, first aid kit etc. Cheers!
Dave try a 900 ace 4 stroke. Very little sound
That's something I've never done. How far would you travel on a ride like this?
Morning Chris. A day trip for us would be about 200 kms. Usually we head out on a route taking us to eventually end up in a small town and have lunch at the local diner. Gas up and then we take a different route back through the afternoon home. usually we get home as the sun goes down. Then we have a drink and talk about the ride. Always fun with these two gents. Cheers!
some kids never grow up, hehehe.
LOL!
How fast are you going on most of your rides? I can see how you could meet a tractor unexpectedly if you are not paying attention.
Are your liability laws similar to ours where the landowner is responsible for people getting hurt in their land?
Morning. I ride pretty slow now - maybe 30-40 kms/hr generally. Yes I believe so - I imagine that the contracts with landowners would most likely remove that liability and the OFSC would assume it. If not, then I doubt anyone would allow sleds on their lands. Cheers and thanks!
Great video. By the looks of some of those downed trees, I think you will need to start taking your chainsaw with you.
LOL!
1-800 groomer
Gord, I have to ask….is that 2020 sticker good for the 2023 season??
Not only that! The one section of rail bed to the gas station has been closed all year! It's removed from the trail map. I was sent to your video from ofsc about trespassing. Riding closed trails is considered trespassing as well.
Landowners closing trail riders out because of the 1% that goofs and/or pollute is a recurring theme.
Sadly always used as an excuse to just ban absolutely everything, and was a huge issue here in Norway.
While alleged "environmentalists" pollute 1000x more.
All the environmental groups were on us, calling us polluters of the worst kind, etc, some riders even getting fines and punishments almost rivaling that of actual capital offenses.
Literally you could go out and take someones life, and still enjoy more physical & legal freedom's than going out for a responsible sled ride on your own land, no joke you could get jailed for riding on your own land that you pay taxes for, while people who broke onto your land to ski on it illegally suffered no repercussions what so ever..
That meant only people in top physical condition can ski around and have full monopoly on fauna, which was a major stab in the back on people who don't have the time for that, and for disabled people who had spent thousands on specialized sleds.
It even went so far that several popular winter tourist spots/enterprises closed down, which killed local incomes.
Well, in recent years a lot of rural people in my country came together big time and petitioned the government, criticizing those so-called "environmentalists" and made a system where, if landowners are on board, local council is on board, trail riders pay a fee, and everything on the square, sledding was once again legal 😁
Maybe the people of Ontario could look into a similar solution to the problem?
Morning and thanks TD. That is the system we have - the trails are managed under an Association of Snowmobile Clubs. We all pay a permit fee to ride the trails which provide funds to keep them groomed and maintained. However, a lot of trails need to go through private lands to get between government owned lands so landowners will allow a 20 foot wide route through their farm lands etc. The trouble here is not about environmentalists - its about bad riders who go off the trail and ride through the private parts of the persons lands, drinking alcohol and leaving the bottles, garbage etc on the owners lands. Meeting up and having parties at night - speeding on peoples lands (especially when the land owners have children etc), vandalism and damage, etc. These are more the reasons why land owners have had enough and are refusing to allow sleds through their lands lately. Just a shame actually. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. Cheers!
@@GPOutdoors Ah you do!
So it's just absolute delinquents going about as if they own the place, that truly is a shame.
Going off the trails is actually punishable here, and those who do get reported by fellow riders who spot them.
Sort of a inner justice system at work really, otherwise nobody gets to ride.
Pretty messed snowmobiles get a couple months span to run trails but we still have to deal with idjits who ride ATVs and trench the trails before the ground even freezes. Pay all that money for clubs to neglect trails that damage sleds and for ATVs fools to reduce the amount of time we get to use them because they can't stay off the trails during winter time
