I'd like to see the big blanket/tarp thing tried out on a real situation. I think it's definitely something we need to see happen on a large scale. Just praying water on huge fires just isn't working. The water we spray just disappears, heats up and evaporates. Especially with the droughts, we need to start using fire-smothering methods to put out fires, not just water and the red retardant. Compared to those huge fires, the little poops of fire retardant and streams of pee from those little hoses are hardly cutting it. That's why these fires are taking forever to put out and are burning millions of acres. They're so out of control, crews can't save whole towns anymore. People are losing their homes because the fires are so fast-spreading. Fact is farmers are struggling to water the crops due to water shortages. Sacrifices are made, so some crops are no longer getting watered. That's our food. It dries up, and we get less food. To keep us from fighting over it at the grocery stores and making stores run out of it fast, the prices are raised. Many poor people can't afford the price, so they stop buying it. Families are struggling to get the proper nutrition they need. They're stuck eating cheap things like Top Ramen and canned corn instead of fresh vegetables that still have the vitamins and minerals not destroyed by the canning process. My kids had to go through that already when their stinkin' lazy, selfish, stealing, hacking father decided to do sick things and went to prison, and I can't stand to imagine how many more families are trying to scrape by eating food that's nutritionally worse than dog food just because food prices are going up due to the fact that farmers are dealing with droughts and fires that can both be managed better by fighting fires in new, smarter ways, and by vastly changing the area's climate by growing new, and well-managed forests and plants that create shade for both air and water (too much sun on the soil dries up the soil, too much sun on the water evaporates the water - shade cools down both air and water). A lot of California is covered in grass, and that doesn't help any. Too much grass is just asking to be turned into a desert. That blanket idea will help a lot with those fires. If a fire starts in the grass, it will help keep it from entering a town and a forest. Let's see it in action!
We changed the composition of our atmosphere in favor of gasses that trap heat, creating an energy imbalance resulting in an ever shifting biosphere up until the point that balance is restored. Hard to tell what this planet will look like by then but our present paints a pretty telling picture. There's a lag of about 30 years between our climate forcing and the time the planet responds meaning that it is the '90's emissions we're experiencing today. So, lets hold on for another 30 years of escalating chaos until we can finally turn this thing around, that is IF we choose to quit emitting greenhouse gasses tomorrow. Still, better ever than never, and better a little than none at all.

Yep it’s extreme fire behavior alright but the title is misleading.
When there are no humans to document or witness it, none of it will matter. The planet will always fix itself. Always has and always will.
@@bpdp379 Still a shame that so many living things and such an intricate system of natural wonders has to pay the price for our disability to organise our species in a way that benefits life in general. Feels like defeat in a way.
Always so sad to see this 😢
A "wonderful" green Forest does not stay that way all by itself. Year after year of just sitting idle all the material add up(dead trees, thick cover of pine needles on the floor, pine cones, dead branches that have fallen to the ground, grass............. Then someone or lighting starts a fire then you have what you view. "Disaster"
Terrifying!
What's next ? 🐺
Pine trees also known as Gasoline a stick. Scary to live in there midst. Very strong probability they will burn sooner or later.

Is there any forest in America is not burning?
Yes. The entire east coast and southeast manages woodlands properly and we dont have massive fires like this.
We don't have forest fires in the northeast

Might help if the trees and other brush was further back from road . Harder for fire to jump. Also yearly burning of the forest floor debris and more fire roads. All that works here in Jersey. Best of luck and safety!
The way that canopy was burning the spotting ahead of the fire would have been massive.

Despite the annual wildfires throughout California, despite the drought, the mudslides, the air pollution, people continue to reside in California. I don't get it.

What else should they use🙄
