  • The is trying to save the classics. A few years ago this one along with the rest of these out front would have been parted out. Now.will.they sell is the question. This 1977 4 door Ford LTD Landau looks to have the best chance as it appears the closest to being roadworthy. The interior looks pretty mint. The exterior looks very straight as well. Under the hood all seems to be in tact. Now the only thing is the price of $1695. Is that a good deal?

I bought a 2 door and I've been doing lots of restoration as well as redesigning A bumper tuck deletes the plastic fillers. Jov3s the front in 4 inches and the rear in 6 inches.lioks like the 1972 cars did. The door pin pecs sleeve on the pin in the door jamb that latch hooks onto to make the doors close easy and not jiggle. Reflector delete in all 4 lights use switch back bulbs in the front for white parking yellow blinker fiunction.a set of e code h4/h1 hella brand conversion 5in round headlights. The front grille I remove the smaller mesh and file so it has the big squares only, and bedliner the inner plastic vs black paint.looks great takes a full day to modify. Mirror window tint and I've a special way to polish all the aluminum trim, I remove and bench polish and reinstall it all. Lincoln side mirrors looks better than stock ones.
The 84-89 version hub. Caps very similar to factory. A wood steering wheel that mounts up 2 inches closer to the dash vs factory for a shorter driver or very tall, that extra 2inches makes it just right.its 15 in not 13 like most aftermarket are 5oo small for a big car. Next will be dual exhaust HEI, new carberator and a new 4 speaker sound system with cassette. Next will be the seats in my car to leather fr I m an elderado barrits. Eurathane restore window weather stripping. Silicone heate4 hoses new core, and reseal all the pipes with green Orings for the ac system to prevent that common comment it probably needs a recharge of freon...as said in every used car video. Spend a month with your car 8 hours a day $1500.00 in parts a d Then You Will Have A great Old Cqr To Drive Everyday.
That car $1800÷$1200 shipping+$1500 = $4500 pus tax tag and a months labor then you have a good car that won't be following a 5ow truck. And remember NON-ETHANOL ENHANCED GASOLINE ONLY. It's worth the extra 80 cents a gallon in non failing fuel pumps and fuel tank senders.....

My dad's old boss recruited and convinced my dad to move us from Chicago to L.A. in 1979. His old/current boss had a 1978 LTD (not sure of the model) as a company car, whereas my father was given a 1979 Ford Fairmont as a company car. After a few years, both were able to purchase their cars for a few hundred bucks, and a few years later, his boss sold my dad his LTD. I learned how to drive in the Fairmont and also got to drive the LTD, and there was little comparison. The Fairmont had the 302 and was quite peppy, whereas the LTD had the 351 and was sort of/kind of adequate in power, although my mom once took on a Miata and beat it, LOL.

It looks to have been garaged or maybe a barn find! 54k miles and I'll be surprised if that's not original.
It's 100% savable and restorable! The price is not bad too! Haggle a couple hundred off and I say it's good! Wonder if the hubcaps are in the trunk. This one isn't as mint as the yellow 78 you saw a few months ago, but it's a good one!
So nice that even the Google Man would not be happy if it were to be parted out.

I had a '78 Grand Marquis way back when. 351 Windsor, FMX transmission that cost $800 to rebuild when it failed...none of my Chrysler Corp or GM rides failed me like this one did. A heater core failure during a cold snap (of course), brake rotor snaps in 2 a week after a Firestone "mechanic" said brakes were fine, last straw was engine failure on the way to work in rush hour traffic. Only positive was it had shag carpeting. 🤦‍♂️

Whoa Nelley, 1977 and maybe going to Heaven. No, this is a 400, not a 351, going by the VIN.
We got the VIN, we win: 7 for 1977 model year, P for St. Paul/Twin Cities, MN assembly, 64 for LTD four door sedan, S for 400 V8 with two barrel, and the rest is the production sequence. The St. Paul plant operated from 1925 to 2011 and last produced vehicles such as the Ford Ranger.
No tag, can't brag, but might be able to figure some of it out, no doubt: 53H for LTD four door sedan, possible code 3V Bright Blue Glow exterior paint, among other codes. The LTD Brougham was discontinued for the 1977 model year, but got the Brougham's interior. The 400 V8 was a sloppy, poor running, slug of an engine. It was always an "emission" engine and never a good one at that. GM's offerings in 1977 were much better, although of course they had their issues too. You can tell Ford was in trouble when they had to go to GM to get AC compressors, as of course that is the GM/Frigidaire A6 compressor. Bird-Kultgen Ford is still in business today at 1701 W Loop 340, Waco, TX 76712. I think you found other cars from there in the past. I would have said the previous owners were Reagan/Bush fans and likely Republicans due to "Independent Business" sticker and the Reagan sticker on the bumper.
Whoa Nelley, VIN code "S" has always been a mess. 4-0-0 and gotta go. Paint code 3V and it's over for thee. That's it, time to quit. A6 hit the bricks. Made in St. Paul and took a big fall. Going to be flat and that's that. Not a Brougham, but soon to be going home. Going to maybe get squished and perhaps some here, I think Benny, but not the Google Man are going to be pissed.

@@gened7756 The plant was actually quite efficient and was not originally on the "Way Forward" plant closings list, but by 2008, it had made it to that list and by 2011 it was closed.
