16:54 the practice of a 31 dragging a 101 did happen. Apparently, around the time TVL is set, 101s were known to breakdown so BR ended up having them being dragged by 31s (and other locomotives like the 25 I believe)
This is one of the earliest routes that I bought when I first got TSW2 in 2020, as it has a personal connection in that I lived in Eagglescliffe for a bit of the early 2000s during my childhood, before moving elsewhere in Yorkshire. Heck, my first train memory is on the Tees Valley, and a Pacer (and I discovered via the Custom Timetable that there are announcements for the stations on the TVL, maybe for a future actual layer in by DTG, idk). I always drive the the AWS on, in fact I always drive with the safety systems on (even if I had a bit of trouble with PZB at first). So, yeah, it is pretty decent all things considered, and the 20 and 31 are great too, although I do find the 31's brakes to be an arsepain too...
I travel on this line all the time. The stations are spot on and the scenery of the marshalling yards and steel works are accurate. Most of the stations date back to Victorian times and are dirty and rundown.
An extension for passenger services to Bishop Auckland and freight services to Celevand Potash at Boulby and British Steel at Skinningrove would be great!
I like this route, but one problem that continues to be a problem in every.single.route. Soooo much industry, and you literally switch out cars in scenario/timetable modes like 5 times and in the exact same sidings. There’s gotta be dozens of industry spurs and you never come close to them I just don’t get it. WHY EVEN MODEL IT IF YOUR NOT GOING TO ALLOW US TO USE IT AND NO ABULITY TO SERVE THESE INDUSTRIES BECAUSE SCENARIO EDITIOR IS CRAP AND IF ITS NOT A STATION YOU CANT EVEN GO THERE. it just doesn’t make sense. This routes a midpacker for me it’s decent not bad but leaves you frustrated just like every other TSW route
Couldn’t agree more mate, it annoys me no end not using any of the variants for routes in most dlc. When the 20 pack came out with a scenario starting on the branch to the west of Saltburn I had hopes that would be a change, but no 😢
You talking about 37 variations reminds me of the oddball 37075 we have at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. It has both a flush headlight end and a headcode box with headlights inside on the other end. Very cool to see in person
Yep, I've heard of 37075 (and I've also got the KWVR route in TS classic). Armstrong Powerhouse scripted her different front ends on their model, and I might show that off in a video at some point; don't know when or if I will. Why does 37075 have two different end designs?
The fact that we have to manually activate the AWS systems on each train irritates me. Surely Dovetail could give us the option to have that switched on by default as is probably is in the real world?
Please don't ever stop your reviews as they are great, informative, and you are saving me a pile of Canuck monies$$. You also might find looking up Cathode ray tubes as interesting as I find your reviews, Keep it up, stay healthy. Till we meet again.
Middlesbrough resident here, an extension to Nunthorpe or Battersby would be nice, also an extension past Saltburn to the Boulby potash mine would’ve been amazing. Too add, the route is extremely different in current times with significant scenery changes and addition and removal of much of the industry. My grandpa was a driver in the 80s and 90s and yes the 31 was that bad, the 20 was also severely underpowered running solo.
I just tried the modified timetable with the pacer, and it even has the "next station" announcements feature. There's no way they weren't planning on it layering here, surely...
IMO the 37 is done poorly in TSW. The 37 is my favourite diesel locomotive and I’m disappointed how they are represented in TSW. The TVL one looks ok but the sounds need re-doing (especially the horn), the WCL 37 looks sht and uses the TVL 37’s sounds and finally we have the Europheonix 37/7 which looks ok but still uses the sounds from the TVL 37/5 I really want the TSW 37s to get an upgrade mainly focused on the model and sounds
i think the Balckpool route was populer due to it being made by Just Trains And Not Coz Of The Time Period. if they do more 80's based routes then they need ta do some from South London as all 3 80's routes have come from the North.
Overall, I quite like this route as it offers a nice mix of freight and passenger traffic, as you said. However, I hate the fact that the route ends at Darlington. I would also like to see an extension to Boulby mine.
Depends on whether you have the consoles or PC versions of TSW. I only play it on PC, and bought the add-on on Steam; I don't know where you're supposed to buy the add-ons for the console versions.
The DTG Class 33 is exactly the same as the 31 with the ridiculously slow-to-release, weak brakes. Need to start slowing down about 2 miles before the station!
Question: at 3:18 ish, you state that BR era routes are still popular as evidenced by JTs Blackpool route and that DTG has no leg to stand on (paraphrased). Could you share your comparative sales data to support your statement?
I tried looking for the sales figures on SteamDB, but the closest I could find was ratings for the individual route add-ons. The averages were as follows. Blackpool - 84.46% positive Tees Valley - 74.19% positive Northern Transpennine - 68.41% positive The Tees Valley and NTP ratings are for the versions compatible with TSW3. The reason why I thought BR-era routes are still popular was due to the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the Blackpool route.
He doesn't hate it, he just has very valid and fair critisisms of some routes in the game. There are some routes in the game that he frinds fantastic, such as Blackpool Branches and Niddertalbahn (I think that is how you spell it). I personally think he is just one of many who are openly spoken against DTG's questionable practices.
There is a new Train Sim Game called Train Sim planet, it looks fantastic from the trailer and very worthy of giving competition to DTG, something they obviously lack at the moment. Maybe this new competition will make them release some higher quality routes@@DC4260Productions

JT added the destinations as they had foresight and passion about having the pacer be run where it had been running
This route should get an upgrade like the WSR in TSW4. And get an updated timetable with the 142

Spitting truth

There is a mod which subs the 142 into the 2 car 101 timetable. It's made by ROB S on the TSC website. I would link it but YT will flag it as spam

I can't say I'm knowledged enough to actually know. Could I get the link to that KWVR route?

I think its because that is how it is IRL
How wrong you are. Drivers in the real world have to manually activate AWS in cab on the trains they drive.

You know your stuff and taught me a lot. Im an enthusiast of older UK diesel traction but dont have a detailed knowledge.
Wow what a coincidence i just booted up TSW4 and checked youtube and saw that you uploaded what a treat!

those windows in to the cab remind me of the ganz
after a quick search i found an image of a 31 dragging a class 107 but still without proper evidence no one can be for sure

My biggest issue with TVL is the lack of scenery, everything else is less of an issue
Love the class 20's. They are a "cousin" variants of the Portuguese CP1400 still running regularly specially in the Douro Valley line.
Ah yes, I've heard of the CP1400. I saw a trip report video featuring one of those engines hauling a train up the Douro Valley.
This rebuilding/labelling technique you said in your previous trainz sim
this is the first route I've bought for tsw, and I still love it

Aswell as Skinningrove Steel works and Eastgate cerment works via Bishop Auckland
I heard that when the class 101 was at the point of being very unreliable they was pulled by the class 31s
Great video! What happened to your Clinchfield Railroad and Linke Reihstrecke reviews?
They just got pushed down the que, and I don't know when I'll get to them.
Hello again how re you good review I think the that is set after aws was a think
Could you explain why you don't use custom Timetables?
Mainly because I didn't realise they even existed until I was informed of the custom TVL timetable.
How do you get the class 20 on tsw4? Help please!!
Depends on whether you have the consoles or PC versions of TSW. I only play it on PC, and bought the add-on on Steam; I don't know where you're supposed to buy the add-ons for the console versions.

Hearing his critique, I thought, "if he were a Brit, he would automatically assume that its awfulness is in fact true to life."
How do you have to buy the east coastway for teas vally line item
if it says that on the in-game store, you don’t need to, it’s broken
Ok but “haded” really cracked me up
Other than that this video was extremely helpful in deciding whether I should get this route or not, thanks!

@purplesmurf2010 Did you fix your television?
I like this route but it shows its age but still very fun and enjoyable with all dlc 2
i live in the village connect to the airport 😂
I love your negativity ❤
If you hate tsw4 that much, why don't you stop playing it?
I don't actually hate TSW4, as I explained in this video.

@@bulleid_productionslol I tried the demo it has a very long way to come .
Don't think tsw has anything to worry about.... unfortunately
