Is anyone actually watching from Two Rivers or Ithaca?
Name Explain I’m watching form Earth 🌍
10/10 Audrey impression.
I lived in Green Bay Wisconsin for a few years, and have been to Two Rivers a lot. Of course, it's pronounced closer to Trivers locally.
Two Rivers represent
I don't live there anymore I just was born there and by the way it's called Two Rivers because of the two twin rivers that go through it the West Twin River and the East Twin River
Sundae bloody sundae.
Broken bottles on the children's feet
*Sundæ
The Real question here is which of these town make the best Sundae?
I'm willing to bet both are spending too much time arguing over who invented it and is getting lazy about keeping their sundae skills at the top of their game.
If sticking with desserts, you've got to do a Name Explain for 'Spotted Dick'.
Dick is a old name for pudding and is older than its use for a penis. And the spotted is from all the raisons.
Antony Mash You raise a reasonable hypothesis. So the spots are the raison d'être of the raisins? The name resonates well. I think we can resolutely declare the issue resolved.
Did he already do a video about how Dick became short for Richard?
@@jubileegabrielmateo7437 or John and Jack
They're rhymes, like Robert > Rob > Bob, Richard > Rick > Dick. There are other examples too. It's like calling stairs "apples and pears".
I'm leaning towards believing Ithaca because I have a hard time buying the idea that anyone would think that ice cream and chocolate sauce would taste yucky together.
Na it tasts gud
For what i know
Hey weehawk you’re wrong, the town 2 rivers has evidence, and the man had the opinion of the choice of ice cream with chocolate sauce (or syrup depending on where you live) tasted terrible. So the case is closed
I dropped everything just to watch this video about desserts
You deserted the stuff for desserts. I will leave now.
This guy has over a 100 million views 104 likes I’am done
Otakushinobi14 And I am replying to you. Yes. I only upload about once a month. most videos are old. But weather I have 0 subs or 1 million, doest mean I don’t watch UA-cam and comment like anyone else lol. I guess maybe I should stop commenting...
Ice cream sunday would be so awesome.
Whole day for ice cream.
Could you do a video about what the link is between Iberia, Liberia, and Siberia?
Now I want a sundae🍨
EliAndrO NLCurDom right? I’m watching this wanting to go to Dairy Queen. 😂😂😂
Ithaca NY: 31k
Two Rivers WI : 11k
Name Explain : 189k
I noticed that Two Rivers created the chocolate sundae and Ithaca created the cherry sundae, but whoever created the chocolate syrup and cherry combo?
More importantly, wtf was chocolate syrup used for _before_ ice cream?
Im just waiting for someone to invent saturdae
That's the kosher version.
That's alright for fighting.
Shabaf would be a better name if we go by the Ithaca story.
I like the Fridae
The Saturdae would just be a Sundae drenched in hard alcohol topped with a used condom. Nobody would fucking eat that
I know I’m not a patreon…but you should do Arkansas and Kansas
The video describes the fight over the name as one of the most "hotly-contested". Since the fight is over the word "sundae", shouldn't it be the most "coldly-contested" fight over a name?
A sort of cold war?
Maybe they both invented it, it is possible for two people having the same idea.
It's not exactly the same idea though is it? The toppings were different.
convergent evolution
But the odds that they would both just so happen to name the same dessert the same thing after independently inventing that very dessert is incredibly slim.
@@I_like_pi_ well think about it this way. there was one guy who got struck by lightning like seven times over the course of his life, and after he died his gravestone got struck. given how many times lightning strikes somewhere on earth in a given frame of time, and given how many people have ever existed, it'd be more surprising if someone like him *didn't* exist.
I think that the sundae is in the same boat
@@benthomason3307 But the sundae isn't some obscure person. It's one of the most popular desserts in America, and dessert is one of the most popular meals in America.
Patrick singing at the end had me laughing to death!!
Anyway, it's a great timing to watch this right after I take my lunch.
Now I wanna know how the town of two rivers got its name. Probably the same way Land Between the Lakes, KY got it’s name.
It’s great that no one has died over the sundae dispute!
I'm a person from Manitowoc, the city just south and within walking distance of Two Rivers, and it's basically just because the 2 rivers that take up the majority of the town meet up right before the entrance to Lake Michigan, have a good day.
That moment when you're from Two Rivers and you know this video is going to mention your hometown
Le Dankstoir: This must be something everyone in your town knows about I guess, LOL.
Two Rivers be like:"evidence shmvidence, we say what we want f--- everyone else"
This comment was made by Ithaca gang
I'm from Two Rivers and I'm not even mad coz it's so true
We have a museum and like half of it is about how the Sundae was created in Two Rivers so.....
Should’ve uploaded on a Sunday
Who knew Patrick had a beautiful singing voice.
Ice cream Mondae, Tuesdae, Wednesdae, Thursdae, Fridae, Saturdae, and sundae.
I vote two rivers being a Wisconsin resident lmao
I've heard of Ithaca bc one of my favorite hockey players is from there.
I highly recommend a video about orange I don't know to differentiate the color from fruit, food, animals/plants, and places.
Just subscribed. Can you please do a video on the word racketeering?
Sundae is from the town of Mondae by a guy called Tuesdae with his wife called Wednesdae in their shop called Thursdae right across from the grocery store Fridae on Saturday.
I'd say both cities deserve the title of home of the sundae, because it is possible for one thing to be invented twice in different areas.
Liked for the angelic singing at the end
Would it be fair to say that your cow's proportions at 5:14 are udderly unusual? ;). Also love the ending, the key didn't change...much. Just being nitpicky live you and your channel, great work! Your charming drawings remind me of the Madeline and Babar books.
I’m not from two rivers, but I do live near Milwaukee, and Wisconsin IS the dairy state, sooo...
You could look up why a dessert is called Knickerbocker Glory.
Can you do a video about the names for attacks; like punches and kicks
No views? This is my favorite video
Is no one going to talk about how much of a freaking BURN Ithaca's song to Two Rivers was
This left a big fat smile
Shout out to that Audrey Hepburn edit 😂👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Nice song
I'm watching on a Thursdae
You should do a video about piña coladas
In Puerto Rico it's a matter of discusion that has been going on for years
Ice cream, cotton candy and other desserts comes from the 1st Persian Empire around 550 BC, Iranians are believed to have created a sweet frozen dessert called *Faloodeh* , which is made of ice, honey, saffron, and fruits. The Persian Empire (today Iran) is believed to have created *Sharbat* , a chilled dessert drink.
I throw my support behind Ithaca, NY. Lol
Can you do Origins of Different greeting around the world. For e.g. Origin of 'Hello' and 'Hi'
The word 'hey' is actually older than 'hi' in English, having Germanic roots.
Alexander Graham Bell himself favored the nautical term "Ahoy!" as the preferred telephone greeting. Apparently, no one else did.
>that's why we're also fat here
But they're fat everywhere in USA?
yogurtovsky Gonna bet that there are some major fatasses where you’re from as well, lol. I’m not butthurt about people saying that America is fat, but I and many others are normal, and it’s funny how easily people forget about their own country’s problems.
@@scoopsmcgoops calm down it's a joke
Believe it or not Australians are more likely to be obese.
Not in Colorado.
I’m not fat. I’m 11 years old and I weigh 75 lbs. oof.
{Edit}: now I weigh 65 lbs. Double oof.
Of course, the controversy is better for both towns than a clear winner, and thus we'll likely never see an end to the fight.
I live in a place called two Rivers upon ave in England
Anymore dessert videos?
More dessert videos
Came from the story. I didn't see this in my subfeed for some reason.
I love how putting chocolate syrup on top of ice cream was considered some sort of radical idea at the time.
Now I what a Sundae.
the story of the sundae reminds me alot of origins of Vindaloo
Please do were do company names come from. Such as: Samsung, Apple, LG... Nice video btw 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Those are phone brands
Awe you have a cute voice. Also growing up in the south of England I thought it was a seaside town concoction.
2 rivers sundae song for Bayonetta 3 .
I grew up in a different town that claims to be the birthplace of the sundae: Evanston, Illinois. And of course, I believe our version.
Ithaca might have lifted its name from a Greek island but that shows more creativity than two rivers, without name is where you can find a tow with out a name ; )
Please make a video about Puerto Ricans "empanadilla" vs "pastelillo" pleeeeaaaasee
*FOOD FIGHT!!!*
Well, New York has a big dairy industry too...
Since we`re on the topic of desserts how about why is Mousse said like moose, but spelled like mouse?
It's French. That explains everything.
@@allanrichardson1468 Haha xD
Idea: convergent evolution is at work here: both stories are true.
Sundaes seem like such basic things that theres no way that this hasnt been invented like 200 times.
Two rivers, puh-leeze.
The story I heard was that soda shops were being blamed as sources of improprieties and youthful rebellion to the point where selling floats and soda creams was frowned upon so heavily that an owner took the soda out and replaced it with chocolate sauce on sundays to appease church authorities. It was called and spelled Sunday because that that was the day it was served but as it caught on they switched to sundae as it was no longer just on Sundays
Robot Chicken had a fairly accurate depiction of it with yet another Sundae town ua-cam.com/video/4fQ_S1lPLk0/v-deo.html
As a Kiwi I'm reminded of the Aus vs NZ Pavalova bum fight
4:40 damn, did you learn to sing from William Shatner? :)
It's so weird hearing Two Rivers as Two Rivers and not Trivers
I have a cat named Sundae. Also, I had no idea there was such a controversy.
5:58 what’s the song he’s singing
How about a video on how the internal organs got their names?
Huh. I lived by Ithaca for years and never even heard this
Can you do a video about "Why are people from Earth called Earthlings?" And other names for someone from a specific planet?
The people of this planet are called Terrans, not Earthlings.
You should make a name about which company owns the name apple.
Or how the Alphabet company got permission from the Al Capp estate to use the last name of his character Barney Google, who appeared occasionally (on his old horse Sparky) in the Snuffy Smith comic strip.
They can both be right. People independent of each other come up with similar and exact ideas all the time.
Two rivers created the chocolate Sundae and Ithaca created the cherry sundae. As simple as that. As to the same, well I think its a coincidence. I had lived in Ithaca and never realized that it's famous for Sundaes
Try to calculate the amount of mozzarella cheese made in Wisconsin
ICE CREAM yaaaaaaay
I’d think the Wisconsin 1 would be more correct. Wisconsin is technically dairy country. Either way I want to pay Dairy Queen a visit for a hot fudge sundae. 😋😋😋
4:32 _Name Explain Golightly???_
Evanston IL claims to have invented the name (but not the dessert itself). Layer upon layer of confusion and controversy...
Came from the story thing
They could have developed it independently like Newton and Leibniz, after all the modern sundae is a combination of the two.
fight me its two rivers
1:27 a hwat?
There is one easy way to settle this. Which one tastes better!
boi its two rivers
I stand by what we did. TWO RIVERS INVENTED THE SUNDAE!!!
I am rather welcome.
Now watch me whip whip
whatch me sundae
I don't care who invented it as long as it tastes great🍧🍨
Why do some adults have to be such babies? It's just ice-cream. Why can't they just share claim to inventing the dessert?
batmanfanforever08 pride.
two rivers
This is so sad Alexa play artillery only
Talk about a tale of two towns...
I wonder if the version of the name sundae that I heard has been debunked. I heard that ice cream sodas were illegal somewhere on Sundays, and so someone took those ingredients but left out the sinful soda water, and discovered something I like much better- and then made a play on the word just by changing the spelling.
My puppy is called Sundae
No claims for the ice cream sundae from Kansas City, only the best bbq you’ll taste. (Also, what about the story behind Kansas City being in Missouri and not Kansas)
Uhm... it is in Kansas as well. It just spans the river. If you've been there to try the BBQ, you should know this.
How does putting some kind of sauce on some icecream need invention? Next there will be someone who claims to have invented putting butter on a slice of bread or ketchup and majo on chips
haha
