I’m dealing with violet right now and am going to try your strategy. Before application, do you recommend mowing? If so, should I go low and bag it? Thanks.
after using this, how long before you can plant on the area? I happen to love clover and dandelions, and I want that in my yard. I want to add it back in.. Also, how long do I need to wait until my outdoor dog can be back on the lawn?
This is what I was coming to say, but I'm being serious...not sure if you are. These vids break my heart--why the American lawn persists, I'll never know. I was searching for ways to get my violets to TAKE OVER my lawn and all search results were like this. Natives are carbon sinks, which we desperately need. I cannot recommend @nativehabitatproject enough!
Have you ever tried Tenacity in conjunction with Triclopyr and 2,4-D? My understanding is that they all can be combined for an incredible trifecta for our yards! Tenacity is great as a pre- or post-emergent as well based upon what I've read. Another good idea is to add dye to your mixture so that you can see where you've applied the product.
Lily-of-the-valley is often difficult to control in the home landscape. Plants can be destroyed by thorough, repeated digging and removal of their underground stems or rhizomes. Any pieces of rhizome that are left will sprout out and develop into plants. It often takes two or three attempts to completely destroy lily-of-the-valley by digging. The herbicide glyphosate (Roundup) is another control option. Glyphosate is a non-selective, systematic herbicide that destroys virtually all plants onto which it is applied. However, lily-of-the-valley is a very tough plant. Two or more applications of glyphosate may be necessary to completely destroy lily-of-the-valley.

I hit it a second time to catch the stragglers, by just spot spraying. I expect to apply again in the fall if needed. Fall is also the best time to treat and overseed with desired grass.
I understand and appreciate both perspectives. They don't sell many 50lb bags of wild violet seeds at the big box stores though. Lots of folks want that perfect Great American Lawn!

What a great video. I am so glad the algorithm put this video in my list
Awesome! Thank you!
How late in the fall can you apply this combination on violets? Is late September/ early October too late for, say northern Virginia?
If you can see them you can spray them. Fall is best time

I would avoid mowing if you can.
Can you use drops of Dawn as a surfactant?
People do use dawn and I have in a pinch.
How much time do you recommend between treatment and seeding with grass seed
Label says 3 weeks.
@@thebumpchannelthx!

I would refer to the product label. Thx for watching!
Thank you for the video. extremely helpful
Glad it was helpful! Thx for watching and I appreciate the comment!
Great video! Can I use this in the spring? I am afraid to wait til fall at the rate I see these growing already 0 (North east). Thanks!
Yes, absolutely! Spring and fall are the best times. Thx for watching!
Since the ground violet is edible and native... is there a way to do the opposite since it seems to be doing better than my grass right now? 😆
Fertilizer haha

Would you recommend using tenacity to control wild violet if it was near a raised vegetable garden?
I would refer to product label for tenacity. Triclopyr works best for violets in my experience.

Do have a remedy to treat / kill of Lily of the Valley?

Will this work on wild strawberry also?
I beleive so

@@thebumpchannel thank you for your time!!!
How many applications of Triclopyr did you do?

is this something that is safe for human and animal consumption ? not sure I would use it otherwise.
Refer to label which covers specific use but if I'm not mistaken same chemicals are approved as such under an agricultural label so 🤷♂️
You plan on eating your lawn...just kidding...I understand the concern
Why would you want fescue instead of violets, even you think they have pretty flowers
I understand and appreciate both perspectives. They don't sell many 50lb bags of wild violet seeds at the big box stores though. Lots of folks want that perfect Great American Lawn!
Your yard looks like monocolor crap.
Your neighbor’s yard looks beautiful and colorful.
To each his own. I appreciate the comment! Thx for watching!
❤ Here here! Don't know why everyone thinks wild violets are a problem, plus the honey bees love em!🤷♂
