yes i have the exact same problem and all of these 40 min lesson vids are cool and all but i just can’t even watch it and it sucked cause i really wanted to know how to make a comic page but this vid was perfect for me and i could watch it all the way through so thank you so so much!!
The theory of “learning styles” have actually been debunked. (No studies have actually proved it) but ofc people learn through actually seeing processes step by step (I have ADD so it’s very much up to the environment some times)
All of the shots stated at the beginning are almost completely similar to what I learned in photography class. It just shows how much how much of it is involved in making comics!
yeah the same goes for animation! Or graphic design, filming, general artworks (that are showing a scene), etc. It's amazing how interconnected different arts are!
honestly the fundamentals i learned from a single photography course i took years back taught me the basic composition that applies to pretty much every visual art i know of
I once took a composition class in college because I wanted something like this, but it ended up being about the like components of composition or something weird like lines and shapes and colors. It just felt like a high school art class, I did great in it with minimal effort, had fun, and learned absolutely nothing... In other words, I'm jealous. I always learned a lot in my other college art classes, so it was incredibly disappointing when the one time when I specifically tried to pin point something I didn't know about I got a completely different topic.
6:18 THATS LITERALLY BLEW MY MIND! I had no idea that it’s possible to draw rooms like in that way, seriously! Thank you very much for your videos, they are so useful!
YESSS FINALLY I HAVE SOME POINTERS. ive been wanting to make short comics so i can move onto big comic stories but i didnt even know how to set them up. and finally after months i have a idea of how i can do it
I make comics myself. I started it beginning writing comics of the school year last year, and here are the steps I did 1: write the lines 2:re-read the lines and maybe fix some stuff up 3:set up comic pages 4:make cover 5:follow the story in some boxes or shapes 6:after one drawing is done, add speach bubbles or backgrounds or words 7:repeat and then when finished color if wanted 8:finish up by decorating back page 9:staple pages together Done!
how quickly do you usually get a page drawn? just wondering cuz ive wanted to make my own comic for ages but always got fustrated after spending like 3 hours getting the rough outline of a single page done
@@BarbaraGordonTheBatgirl I haven’t made one in like a year but I do remember that I folded each page in half so I would use one half of a page so considering that to be one full page done it took me like 10 - 20 minutes. I am a fast drawer and I didn’t add too much detail cuz they were just doodles
@@coffeeeeeeeebear5936 So I have 2 serious ideas and 1 stupid one. The first is a semi-serialozed comic that takes place in a sci-fi fantasy world where 3 characters start a shop where people can hire them to do pretty much any job. The comic (and shop) will be called Helping Hands. I like this simple premise because it's something easy to follow and it has many possibilities. The other comic is an episodic adventure where the character Rose Quartz from Steven Universe returns and has to comfront all of her problems and each episode deals with a bad choice she has made. The joke one is called No Remorse Horse where someone says something to the horse and it responds with a violent act it has committed. It's stupid and I love it jdkemedkke
@@coffeeeeeeeebear5936 Coming up with ideas isn't hard for me- what I struggle with is continuing to like the ideas. The two serious ones, explicitly the semi-serialized one, have gone through so many iterations just because I decided "I don't like this anymore, time to scap it all and start again"
Pretty sure it's a recording of a Livestream, but she did speed up some parts. Some less important bits were probably cut out, and there was likely some voice over parts (general editing stuff), so kinda? Edit: yeah, so looking back at it, she's taking things she's said whilst drawing and speeding up the visual footage to take up less time. There are parts where she does go back to real time. So partially a speed paint.
i legit spit my oreo cookie outta my mouth once i realized that we have a very similar eyes style- like- dude.. yknow how hard it is to find someone who has the same style as yours?? lmao thats how confused and hyped i was! btw, i LOVE drawing comics and you just saved me from a lot of mistakes that I was gonna apply to my future comics! How have i not found this sooner?? Istg this video had all the info I had been looking for and was nicely and simply presented in 11 mins and 40 secs. Thanks for this 😔👍
Is there a good version of the "dutch angle" where it's made to give a more dynamic movement feeling to a panel? I suppose it's just as important to learn the terms of cinematography to be able to search up camera angles with ease
This is AMAZING 🤯. I never knew that you could make a full room come to life with just a floor plan I always thought that floor plans were just to see how things were adjusted but never knew that you can built on ... I'm sooo gonna be trying this!!! Thank you most kindly for all your art help 🎉❤ be safe and stay well ❤
another thing that you can probably use for backgrounds is create the background you need in like the Sims 4 or something and you have a 3d model of it that you can position and change at anytime. If your really detail oriented i suggest doing things for the background your going to spend a lot of time in. like for example in Morgana and Oz, they spend a lot of time at the doctors house, in the forest and some time spent in the Winterberry mansion/manor thing and the vampire base so those would be the ones that you make to use for reference of the background
I'm actually drawing the second episode to my first ever comic while watching this lol! Thanks so much for your great tutorials, you're an amazing teacher
Ohhh my god,, the floor plan method is so smart!!! Thanks so much, I have trouble with backgrounds, esp indoor backgrounds or cityscapes. Thanks so much

if you see a video where people draw very fast, then we call it (often) "speedpaint" which is also in their titel.
She most likely drew everything at her own pace, sped it up, and talked over the sped up fotage
