Really helpful video. I’m in the position of having agreed to buy my grandson’s cricket bats, he’s now aged 10, but is currently in the third year of the county cricket club’s junior training scheme so he’s a serious if still very junior player. He needs a new bat so his county coach advises so that’s what we’re off to do. Fortunately we have a good cricket shop close by so grandson can go and swing a bat or three but as the one paying, I want to ensure he has the right size bat, length of course, he’s probably still size 4, but, and clearly very importantly, weight. Being shown the need to be able to hold the bat out straight with his non-dominant hand, the left in his case, without it wobbling is extremely helpful as was the tip that a bat marginally too light is far better than one that is too heavy and why this is was excellent advice. As a general rule, I understand that English willow bats are lighter in weight than Kashmiri ones, so itv looks as if we’re heading for an English willow size 4 but hopefully not one that costs the earth!
For some bizarre reason manufacturers don't seem to state the weight of their junior bats - madness as this is crucial for children! (they'd sell more if they included the weight!)
This is a very difficult question to answer because each bat is unique as the willow can vary. Our advice is to go with something that feels good in the hands or if you can't get to a store, something that fits your style of play.
Hi I am 9 years old and am merging into 10 years I am 5 foot but I don’t know which bat to buy I currently use size 6 but now it is too small for me so I have to choose between harrow, small mens, academy and I would really love to buy a bat from you guys but I am not located in England thanks
Hi there, please watch the video in full which will provide you with all the information you require to make a decision. Unfortunately, shipping overseas is tricky at this moment in time due to custom ruling but we hope to be able to ship overseas in the near future. Thanks for watching.
Sir I am 12 playing with hard ball cricket and I am very short highted I am 4 2 and I have a season coming in two months and that will be my second and my budget is 50 to 55 pounds so which bat should I take New balance should I take Gary Nichols should I take sg or ss or some other brand coz this season will decide that will I play u 14 or not for my district I am taking a English willow bat pls tell sir pls pls
Brands can vary but it is best to have a feel of a bat in your hand. If you can get to a store to pick up and get a feel for a bat this will give you the best opportunity to find out a bat that is both the right size and weight.
@@SeriousCricketTV sir I went to the store and I selected some cricket bats but before buying I thought I should ask u the bats before buying. bats are new balance t460 which was very light with a good sweetspot sg classic sunil gavaskar which has a very small sweet spot but well balanced the last 1 is gray Nichols academy bat which had a very small sweet spot but it was the most balanced bat so sir I am pretty confused sir pls tell me sir this season is very important for me if I don't perform good I won't play district level next year pls reply and lastly big fan of your videoz
By the sounds of things the new balance t460 felt good in your hands and had a good sweet spot which is really important and could be a good option. We wish you the best of luck with your trial! 👍
Hey guys! I am a 12 year old who is quite short for my age and just going into my next season. Any recommendations for a reasonably priced bat within size 4-5?
Hi Darshan, the bat you choose will depend on a number of factors discussed within the video so it is difficult to recommend a specific bat. Make sure you get the right size for you (top of the handle should break the wrist where you would wear a watch).
Hi Azeem, usually we would ship overseas but at this moment in time, it is very difficult due to issues with customs etc. Hopefully next year we will be in a better position.
It is vital that you set yourself a budget before you start looking at any cricket bat. It doesn't make sense to be looking at 4 bats when 3 out of the 4 are out of your budget 👍

Well some might sell less
What would you say is the best size 6 grade 1 bat under £160

Informative
Thank you Harisree 👍
I use harrow bat and am 12 and it's good for me
Is there any difference [in size] between academy and small mens
Small Mens is slightly bigger / heavier. Academy is still technically classed as a 'junior bat' 👍

For a 13 year old what do you think the best size is
Currently I'm using size 6
As a guide, the top of the bat should break the wrist where you would wear a watch. Watch the video where we explain this 👍
@@SeriousCricketTV my bat handle is higher thsn my wrist
@@zxtrenixx this would suggest the bat is too big for you. You may want to try a smaller bat to see if that works better for you.

I am 12 years old but I am 5'10 so which bat is perfect for me?...plz tell me
I have a question: What is the cheapest bat you can get (Dont pick a slazenger one😂).
The thing about once choosing the bat is that it’s quite expensive, like £100 to £500.
It is vital that you set yourself a budget before you start looking at any cricket bat. It doesn't make sense to be looking at 4 bats when 3 out of the 4 are out of your budget 👍
is this for 13 years old kid?
How much proffesional cricket did neil and rich play???
