Could you discuss the effect of auroras on portions of the broadcast radio spectrum that are not strictly line-of-sight and can propogate further than the horizon by ionospheric skip? Such as AM, CB, SW, I guess? It seems that when the ionosphere is supercharged by aurora events you might see lower frequency/shorter wavelength signals retain more energy and reflect or 'skip' farther.

I could be wrong, but I was instructed that geosynchronous satellites were 23 thousand miles above Earth, so I wouldn't think there would be much atmosphere way out there~
Of course there is. Not a lot but there is enough to cause drag.
