I have monostotic FB fibrous dysplasia in the left proximal femur. Extremely painful. Thank you doctor. 😊 I have been on crutches 5 months now. Many tests, my CT guided biopsy failed to show anything. It was so painful and they would like to repeat it. I rather have an open biopsy and a plan to fix it and get me out of bed, I've been mostly resting, it's exhausting!
@@ENT_Imaging Thank you! The surgeon said today that my monostotic bone tumor shouldn't hurt? She refuses to give me a diagnosis without a biopsy. Even though the open one is risky I preferred it. Now I'm not so sure... Would love a 2nd opinion 🙆♀️💗
The treatment depends on the location of the involved bones and the extent of involvement, as well as the effect on surrounding structures. I suggest that you see a physician in person so that they can provide you with more specific guidance.
That is very kind of you. I enjoy meeting other people who like head and neck radiology. I always attend the ASHNR meeting, and in 2023 I will also be at the ESHNR in Malta. Be sure to say hi.
Yes and no. The mandibular condyle can indeed be enlarged by fibrous dysplasia. But we usually reserve the word "hyperplasia" for enlargement of the entire hemimandible or hemiface, typically from genetic anomalies.
@Barton Branstetter Would there be any way that I could send you a copy of my face CT and get your input on it? I would really appreciate your opinion. It's a situation of progressive facial asymmetry, and we are having a very difficult time determining the cause. Both fibrous dysplasia and hemifacial condylar hyperplasia have been brought up as possible causes.
Keep on learning. Great lectures. Excellent teacher. Great review of this topic.
Great overview. Thank you.

Can fibrous dysplasia cause condylar hyperplasia?

Will this be hereditary?
The monostotic form is not hereditary, as far as I know.
