  • We drove to Dixon Springs Spillway after heavy rain from severe thunderstorms. Little did we know that we'd see the waterfall at probably its best I've ever seen it. The power of nature combined with something man-made! It was amazing. Enjoy my free guide to the area: www.hikingwith...

This was strangely peaceful to watch. Though, I’d imagine not so much in person haha.

Just were there 2 weeks ago and fished the pool at bottom, near the spring. Been there dozens of times and never saw that much water. What a transformation. Thanks for capturing this!

We went right after a heavy rain thunderstorm cell went through. That’s about what you have to do anymore.

@@HikingWithShawn We now are "dude" campers at Rim Rock Dowood Cabins, since 2011. We still visit Dixon Springs sp, and do Find a Grave pics at a number of cemeteries. We live 4 hours upstate at Springfield.

@@dianehoward6328 I love Rim Rock's Dogwood Cabins. It was the first overnight stay I had with my now-wife.

Sort of reminds me of what happened to the mill on the Floss.

Yep, most of the time barely enough water to have a steady flow, but every once in awhile along comes a great flood that sweeps away entire mills...

What does Crab Orchard Lake Spillway look like?
