The lyrics are about RP's dog, Stryder, hence the lyrics "blue eyed merle, finest dog I knew, ain't no 'ol shep gonna happen again".
Where this song was written was a place Plant & his parents used to go, a cottage named like the song. Plant & Page stayed there writing songs, no electricity or running water. It was pretty remote cottage, & Plant came up with the lyrics walking with his dog, who the song is about.
Robert's love song to his dog Strider
Live at Madison Square Gardens (1973) Since I’ve Been Loving You, live at Knebworth (1979) Kashmir. Anything you would pick is absolutely great, & us Led Zeppelin fans will be there. If done fairly consistently, we will grow your channel.
Thanks for checking out my favorite band since 69❤
Led Zeppelin
The greatest band ever ❤
The studio version of 'Since I've Been Loving You' is one of my favorite pieces of music ever. Kashmir is anotther all time favorite.
I agree. I hope he does the studio first , before checking out the live. It’s one of LZ masterpieces.
My favorite song by Led Zeppelin is No Quarter ❤❤
Jimmy is amazing playing any guitar, acoustic or any electric guitar. One of their songs, he played JPJ’s mandolin, first time he played one & amazing. I can’t remember right off hand which one.
That would be Battle of Evermore.
@ I thought so, but wasn’t 100%, so I was afraid to say so, thank you.
Absolutely!! Jimmy plays any guitar! And JPJ plays any string or keys!
@henriettaskolnick4445 yes
@sicotshit7068 Jimmy played the mandolin in Battle Of Evermore.
Two things..Zepplin could do everything and had a million moods. Secondly, it's "blue-eyed Merle" Merle is a name for a coat pattern on dogs lol. Everyone always hears girl because you don't expect him to be singing about his dog
I hope you continue reacting to Led Zeppelin! Definitely recommend reacting to Kashmir and Since I’ve been Loving you. Ramble On is also a great one!
YAY Most KickAss song about a Dog Plant's Dog at that & YAY you CAN SEE them performing it LIVE i Hope ya will check it out sometime! BEST band EVER!!!
Its about a Dog , Great Song!!! Led Zep for Ever!
The song is pronounced "Bron-ee-Arr Stomp". It comes from a place in North Wales, a house that Led Zeppelin stayed in while writing some of their music. The place is actually a misspelled name from Bron-Yr-Aur, a town in Wales that means "hill(s) of gold". Anyway, LOVED this song, it feels very folky...
Thank you Bumblebee Whisperer for this song choice. Love that you always get something different in front of DJ.
Thank you for this reaction DJ, absolutely loved your comparison to AC/DC and how much you enjoyed this song.
It's more mid Wales not north. I live near there.
Well this was a pleasant surprise, to see someone reacting to Led Zeppelin!
Led Zep formed in 1968 and disbanded in 1980 when their drummer, John Bonham, died. I was lucky enough to see them at the Knebworth Festival in 1979. Even though we were miles from the stage the atmosphere was amazing and the band incredible.
In the 70's there was a farmhouse studio in Wales (possibly more than one) that was popular with rock bands and that was, I believe, where this and the album were recorded. Bron-Y-Aur was I think the name of the nearby village.
People tend to associate LZ with screaming rock but their output was pretty varied really. Other good songs to try are "D'yer Mak'er", (that's a very unexpected style from them!), "Black Dog", "When The Levee Breaks" or "Rock and Roll".
Haha! Good guess! Jimmy and Robert taking time off in the country to write and recharge. This is about Robert's dog Strider a blue eyed Merle. Zeppelin has many songs in many styles. Try Rock and Roll ,Since I've Been Loving You , and Kashmir for some of the different places they go
Bron-Yr-Aur is the name of an 18th century cottage in Wales. It means "hill of gold". It was quiet there and Jimmy and Robert used to go there to write music.
Led Zeppelin do this song live at Earl's Court and is worth a listen. As mentioned below the lyrics refer to Plant's dog, Strider. It's funny that you reference "Immigrant Song" so many times, because this song is from the same album (Led Zeppelin III). It is also ironic that you say that you could picture this song being written on a farm, using a tub for a drum. That is exactly the type of environment Bron-y-Aur was when Zeppelin stayed there.
Put "When the levee breaks" in that poll. It's a true story about the 1927 floods of Mississippi. The original version was in 1929 and has since been covered by Tool and Playing for Change which are both outstanding in their own right. The drum into is legendary and has been sampled a lot. The haunting harmonica by the singer Robert Plant is perfect for the mood.
Soft Rock of Stairway 😂 😂😂 😮
Live at Earls Court (1975), other live acoustics too. You’ve been missing out on the greatest band ever. Everything they’ve done is amazing, you haven’t even scratched the surface, highly recommend a deep dive into them you won’t be sorry.
Try out the rain song. If you start one song at a time with the 1st album and play each song and do the albums in order, you will be amazed at the number of subscribers.
You should see this live!
This reaction was so much fun.
Bron yr Aur is a remote cottage in beautiful in the foothills of The Brecon Beacons in South Wales where Jimmy Page and Robert Plant went to write songs for Led Zeppelin 3 and 4.
It's nowhere near the Brecon Beacons. Instead it's a few miles north of Machynlleth.
Thanks DJ 😊
You won't find two identical songs on the ten albums. Each songs is different world. Then there are the live recordings, where every concert is full of improvisation, everything sounds different.
I don’t know who Sophie is! It’s “So fine”
Jimmy Page is not an electric guitarist. Jimmy is a musician.
Pick any song by this awesome band and you'll be amazed. Good reaction but you're stopping it too much.
