I just bought a new 24 Foreman Rubicon 520 foot shift and I was kinda regretting my purchase after watching videos on other quads and reading other peoples comments until I watched your vids put my mind at ease. Thanks for the detailed info.
Owned several Hondas over the years, only thing to add to your mix. The Rincon you can do the popular big red gear reduction. Cheap, not too difficult, very evective for turning 28-30s.
@@willoblenes2002 It definitely has a little more power and it has a torque converter which is like a stall but it's not enough to make up for the fact that it only has three forward gears and all of them are extremely high
@@MudPuppyOffroad it's a shame. Waste of the higher output engine. Just needs a proper 5 speed transmission and a 1mm larger bore (702cc) and it would be a beast
In Sweden Honda made a Rincon 680 ”Mud Edition ” with gear reduction, 27 inch tires and special bumper/protection. It was quite popular before everyone wanted EPS and I find them regularly for sale here. Problem is that the used price is about $7000 to $8500….
Rings are pretty involved if you know nothing about engines. You can do them without taking it out of the machine but the whole top end has to come off which means messing with the timing chain that has to be perfect.
It's partially because Honda strives for reliability so the engines are very under stressed. But it's mostly because this engine is over 10 years out of date.
@MudPuppyOffroad wouldn't mind seeing a gearing comparison for a grizzly someday. I know they aren't great for what you do and since it's a belt drive they don't have real gear ratios. It'd just be cool to see how it compares.
@rcjg24 I have one somewhere. I'll dig it up for you. Basically the grizzly is geared significantly higher like 40 to 1 compared to the 50 to 1ish for most Hondas

You got the right machine! The new G3 can ams are good but that Honda is hard to beat

I've installed several p700 Reductions. Still geared way higher than a stock rancher unfortunately
Ya the extra HP argument doesn't jive with me either. When mine has a hard time with 27s in the thick stuff
Way rather the 420 for a mud bike

Wow neat
I need you to make a video putting new clutches and a gear reduction in 2016 honda 500 rubicon dct. Thanks
Thoughts about giving the newer yxz 6 spd a try ?
Needs a true low range and a more sealed air box for me
What are your thoughts on the Suzukis I have a 500 every thing done to it but what is your opinion on it
Some of them are definitely decent. All pretty outdated at this point though. I don't have much experience personally
Can you get a 500 or 520 with foot shift and power steering?
Yes I got a 08 500 air cooled with powersteering
Yep! Most 500s and 520s have that
My brand new 520 Rubicon is foot shift with EPS.
2 things, can you point me into the direction of a 300 complete 4wd front end kit?
and how do you do rings? i’m very lost and confused if i could get some help. thank you!
What do you mean front end kit? Ball joints? Wheel bearings? Tie rods? Or everything to turn a 2wd into a 4wd?

good shit
Thanks!
Man I can't believe how Honda gets such low hp out of everything. Even the 680. That should be 50 like my grizzly.

Honda knows how to make powerful race engines . They just don't put them in the ATVs because they're reliability Reputation is more important
