The resemblance to the Unimog is no accident: Product director Gustav Krettenauer deliberately used proven components from the U 406 to bring the MB-trac onto the market as a low-cost competitor despite the low production numbers. At the same time, the standardisation of the major assemblies ensured efficiency in repair work and customer support.
Fully agree with the 10 tractors pick out good story of it the best I love is the new version of maize you have if you get the weather touch wood for it may it work out well for you cheers Ollie 👍👍 best wishes Declan 👍👍🙏
Wonderful selection of tractors Olly. You'd laugh at my choice - The 59 and 69 series of Zetor, both 4 and 2wd from the 1980s and 90s . They went for years without needing a spanner, and had big cabs and oil filters you cleaned out with a penknife. The 4wd were immense on slopes.
My No1 tractor is the Massey Ferguson 35...... The first tractor I drove and in my opinion, still the best. I used to use an International 955 back in the early 80s and it was a mighty fine tractor. It had a lovely sound. Far better than a smoky old 8210. Creep on the steering wheel is normal on hydrostatic steering systems due to leakage (for lubrication) through the orbitrol valve. I like the John Deere cab layout, the gears and the manual spools.
Olly. I lived beside guys who had the first MB Trac 1500 in Ireland.. 1984 . What a machine . My brother and I spent hours and hours watching these guys with this and all their other equipment. John Deere 3140/ Volvo bm 648 loading shovel and 1075 combine. He later worked in the farm so I got to go in these things … you should get a1600 mb trac for sure..
Every day is a school day for me as I have never worked on a farm unfortunately. It’s great to hear about the equipment around your farm and their uses. Keep up the good work mate. 35% today let’s see what tomorrow brings
Great video Olly again my favourite tractor would have to be a MF 35x great memories of carting hay and doing lots of jobs around the farm with it ,remember when JH Willis the contractors turned up with a International 1455xl with the first Class 75 trailed chopper in the country what a sound and a international 1056 on the pit👍💪💪
My favourite tractor in the MF 135, they work tirelessly for us from the 1970's and still, yard tractor, pressure washer, hay making, cement mixer and my son used it as his car before he gained his driving lic. It also starred at his wedding. Thanks Olly interesting vlog as always, take care 90%.
When I worked on farms back in the early 1980's the Case 1455xl was a sight to behold. Of all the tractors I have seen or driven I think the 1455 has THE best and THE most unique sounds. Looking at them now still makes me smile.
We had a couple of leyland 2100’s but needed 4wd so in 81 or 82 we got a 1455 and thought we had more power than we would ever need, now 40 years later we have only one tractor less than 200hp just for the rake , leyland went defunct and we didn’t have much luck with the IH and went to ford for a while but have basically had Deeres and fendt / Massey for the last 20 years but like Olly says the cost of new ones is crazy expensive we used to move on all tractors at about 6000 hrs now we tend to keep them for 10,000 plus one of the fendts has over 20,000 and even at 10 years old is used any day we can travel. Forty years ago we were very busy to put up a thousand hours a year on a tractor now we find it hard to justify a tractors existence unless it is doing 2000 plus. Just had a thought a set of tyres for one of our tractors now costs more than what was considered a big tractor back then!
We had a case 1056, used to cart the milk tanker Upton the cheese makers. We had a fendt, 309 LSA 310 and 311. A fendt tool carrier. Then there was 4 grey Fergys 2 merlos and a David brown 998😂 that was only 15 yes ago.
Well Ollie the Fendt 724 is my favourite to it ticks all the boxes whar a super tractor But the main problem is replacing them with a new one because what farmers sells ie whether it’s grain or milk a new one takes some justifying and massive congratulations on reaching a 100000. Views that fantastic I really enjoy watching them better than any tele feeling 93%today another fantastic video Ollie
I'm still into my older tractors but think the fendt are an amazing piece of kit. 77% got an operation on Friday. But your updates will keep me going through my recovery. 😊
Tell you what Olly, your spot on when you say appreciating the sound from an engine………it can make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up! Some people with probably think we are weird😂
Another superb blog Olly, you have a great collection of tractors including the 1987 big Case and the David Brown / case that you have the engine stripped down. I’d totally agree with your top 10, but I love the older John Deeres and would have to have an Old Ford included like a Tw 25 or one of the 8000 series. 😊
Nice video…a Ford 7600 A1 would be at the top of my list, had one but had to move it on when my job went pear shaped….i honestly cant see why they cost so much nowadays, much like lorries the price new is ridiculous and reliability is a toss of a coin on anything,my boss wont run any lorry out of warranty nowadays…worlds gone mad…!
good order with the tractors olly i do have a thing for the classics though case and the deere are up there for me but they wont cope with the work of the modern kit. all the best to you Shane
The 2 Fendts and the 7710 are my favs. Would like to see the MB working again at some point 😂. A Kirovets K700A would be a good addition to your fleet haha to go with the Xerion and MB!
Check the viscous fan on the 7830 mine ran fine all summer leading corn and as soon as I gave her some pain it got warm go into diagnostic and find address and see if the fan speed matches the desired speed mine was way out.
I liked the International 885 when I was a kid, the JD6910 a bit later but for timber work a 6 cylinder County still takes some beating. Today I drive a Ford 1910 made in Japan, basically a Kubota painted blue. The size of a grey Fergy , four wheel drive, and it can squeeze into little places in the woodlands I work in these days. A 1.7 litre engine with tons of torque, almost a baby County but it doesn't take an acre to turn around.
The MB-trac makes history: In July 1973, the tractor from Daimler rolled off the production line for the first time. As a dependable workhorse on the farm and field, the MB-trac has shaped generations - and is still providing inspiration to this day. The Unimog’s brother with angular contours benefited from the cutting-edge technology that continues today in the modern Unimog implement carriers.
Just seen a Xerion 3800 near Eccleston, Chester (close to duke of Westminsters place) highly unlikely I know but I'm sort of hoping it was yours. Afterall, one thing better than spotting a Xerion, is spotting Ollies Xerion.
Personally my favourite tractor would be those case tractors. I have happy memories myself sitting on the tool box of case tractors like that with my grandfather while he was farming. I know you don't like ploughing oily but there was something therapeutic watching the soil turn over looking out the back window. Plus those cases would have been British made if you look close enough you should find a David Brown badge on them somewhere.
As a International trained engineer, in my opinion the best two tractors ever built, are the 1455XL and the 956XL. I would say they were the most reliable tractors ever built and two of the best work horses you could have on a farm.
Interesting with the CASE having the gears on the left, never seen that before. I used a Leyland 272 Syncro one summer and that had a gear leaver on both sides of the seat and synchromesh gears which the Fords at the time did not. Fav tractor of all time Ford 8100.
I reckon you got that top 10 spot on. Although if you change that 936 for a new gen 7 I think it would pip the 724 to the top spot. 65kph and the comfort is unbelievable. 90% today, sad to be finished on my 939 for the winter but reunited with a nice 419s loading shovel for loading beet all winter.
Hi fendt tractors seem to be a favourite for farmers , definitely got a good look ,have you ever tried a kubota tractor ,as they offer a good range ,also reasonable prices, and have a good warranty.
Great video oly and my favourite tractor is my fendt 724 also but mine is a 18 plate so not got same controls as yours but I still love it especially as its our loader tractor also.
Can't argue with your choice of which order they're in but (there's always a but) for looks alone, that Valtra is stunning. 80% for me today, got covid again.Great video as always Olly. Hope it's a quick, none expensive repair on the Xerion
2 main work tractors in warrenty but now inflation is so high Would you risk keeping the 936 and 724 to high hours (or main work tractors) ? Cheeper fixing them than buying new and put money into diversification ?
What's the story of the big american Case? :) I do like the 936 and Xerion as well, did you say you had a 926 before as well? Should find some old pictures of it for another tractor video maybe :)
I wonder if you changed this to favourite driven machinery whether number 1 would change (I think top 5 definitely would) because the Bateman and Combine (and not forgetting the Corvus) would be up in the upper reaches. Add in all powered machinary and we all know the chipper would take number 1 without any competition!
Don't feel bad about the broken tractors, my neighbors with the gigantic dairy farm usually have 3 times as many tractors broke down as most farms have in total! I have asked how many they have and didn't really get an answer, I don't think they know!!
The resemblance to the Unimog is no accident: Product director Gustav Krettenauer deliberately used proven components from the U 406 to bring the MB-trac onto the market as a low-cost competitor despite the low production numbers. I would agree good choice of top ten tractors. Nice one
I’m now driving around rural Somerset trying to see the makes of all the tractors and trailers….I’m becoming a tractor spotter 😮😊
Hi Back in the day i was a huge David Brown fan.
First job when leaving school worked for a contractor & drove a DB 1412, talk about proud. 👍👍👍
My No1 tractor is the Massey Ferguson 35...... The first tractor I drove and in my opinion, still the best. I used to use an International 955 back in the early 80s and it was a mighty fine tractor. First John Deer’s I drove 2130s and 2140s 1978 1980 all used to wander all over the place but good work horses
Olly. I lived beside guys who had the first MB Trac 1500 in Ireland.. 1984 . What a machine . My brother and I spent hours and hours watching these guys with this and all their other equipment. Great to learn about the Tractors How they have changed over the years .My father had 3 Massey Ferguson 35 on our small farm.
a Lot of time on 7810. 23 years love them all the way from Ireland 🇮🇪 🇮🇪 🇮🇪
Thanks for the great video every evening when things go wrong during the day. I look forward to olys youtube. Thanks again Denis southern Ireland

Used to drive a 956, awww the sound 👌👌👌👌

When you said your 4230 was in for repairs I smiled thinking they were very good at needing repairs
Those little cases were speedy! Brilliant engines. We had a 785 for a long time.
You're right about the price of tractors now, extortion!
Very interesting video love your top ten talk about tractors . I had a 956xl for about 20 years fantastic tractor . 90% today how are you today Olly
Great video Olly I just had a look and your channel is on its way to 70,000,000 views 👏👏👍👍
Funny thing about geese Olly, on the ground they are a flock but when flying they are a skein.
Great video , great to hear your comments , my top 4 that i have , case ih 1056 , mf1200, ih 275 and mf 185 ,
Will agree Olly the 724 is my favorite , had one on a mf 2290 baler and it just kept going no matter what.

Should get Blue power Oli.We run T6 175 bullet proof….. First tractor was a 995 then a 6610. My son in law runs Fendts😮💨
724 are very popular round our way! I dont know how they make it pay? You missed your dads crop master!😅 wet through and cold! Rose tinted!
85% today, nice to be out in the rain! Not!!! Fendts but as you say the expensive item, but a good workhorse, pulls it weight!
good order with the tractors olly i do have a thing for the classics though case and the deere are up there for me but they wont cope with the work of the modern kit. all the best to you Shane
I pick the same as you olly a great tractor 95%today.
The 2 Fendts and the 7710 are my favs. Would like to see the MB working again at some point 😂. A Kirovets K700A would be a good addition to your fleet haha to go with the Xerion and MB!

CONGRATS Olly on 100k!!
Very much deserved!
Ursus c385 had front suspension, heated rear screen, passenger seat, rear wiper back in 1980

724 top spot 👍. Great machine. Awesome sound out the 1455 tho!
85% today.
Very interesting video Olly love the mini merlow .😊😊50%

Yes fantastic choice for number one brilliant video 👍
Nice video, we used to run an 856 Case. Nice machine. 85%

I'm looking forward to when you have time to make the MB track pretty again
The original design of the mbtrac was the blackjack custom muscle tractor you can see a video of it in action see also see the bedferg tractor
Interesting with the CASE having the gears on the left, never seen that before. I used a Leyland 272 Syncro one summer and that had a gear leaver on both sides of the seat and synchromesh gears which the Fords at the time did not. Fav tractor of all time Ford 8100.
the 585 IH .. was mine lover! after when i start to work fultime it was a 4040S JD
Tractor day, I love it, cheers Olly
We need the cool wall the be updated 😬
would 100% agree with No.1,
True fact about sweetcorn, the rows will always be an even number when counted around the cob

My favorite tractor is a oliver super 77 and our gas 1550 oliver
Hi fendt tractors seem to be a favourite for farmers , definitely got a good look ,have you ever tried a kubota tractor ,as they offer a good range ,also reasonable prices, and have a good warranty.
Hi Olly Nice One out of your tractors MB or Xerion of are own wood be JD 2140 of Ford 4000 Thanks again
Great video Olly, I knew your favourite would be the 724. Got to say the Valtra is a stunning looking tractor though.
Good selection of tractors Olly pity some aren’t 100% but which one will be saved as a classic for James ?
I do like the John Deere,s, my tractors are both older ones from 1985,1990. I do think I could ever afford to upgrade them.
Great video oly and my favourite tractor is my fendt 724 also but mine is a 18 plate so not got same controls as yours but I still love it especially as its our loader tractor also.
Nice tractors!
Think all tractors are great but like ive said before. The xerion is my favourite . Take care
Can't argue with your choice of which order they're in but (there's always a but) for looks alone, that Valtra is stunning. 80% for me today, got covid again.Great video as always Olly. Hope it's a quick, none expensive repair on the Xerion
i had a case international 1056 from new, but aways wanted a 1455, so that my fav🤩
When is that new Case you tried coming home? What would you swap out so you could get one?
Great video but seriously the 7710 should be number 1. 😂
we run fendt tractor here western Canada
I must admit the burnt orange colour looks amazing lol
first i drove on the road was a case 885 super two
Always a Massey ollie, the 135 is the Tops for me
Hi Olly great video's just a quick question how many acres are you farming these day's.
Great video Olly what great range of tractors you have got I think I have driven at least 6 of them on different farms I have worked on
2 main work tractors in warrenty but now inflation is so high Would you risk keeping the 936 and 724 to high hours (or main work tractors) ? Cheeper fixing them than buying new and put money into diversification ?
I think you have it spot on olly. Great video, keep up the good work 👌
The Valtra, once you've used alot will grow on you and give your 724 a run for its money, and probably 50/60 k cheaper than a 724?
Have to agree I love case 1455 and 1255
What's the story of the big american Case? :) I do like the 936 and Xerion as well, did you say you had a 926 before as well? Should find some old pictures of it for another tractor video maybe :)
Great video Olly
Great video as always Olly

great video but i miss the fastrac sorry
Number 1 has to be the Xerion on straight pipe!!! I'd drive round in it just to piss off the sad act who complained 😂
What about NH7270 in metallic Profondo Blue paint, made in England at Basildon?
My favorite tractor is the Fendt 1050
David brown is my favourite 🏴
That 724 is a beast of a tractor.
Have you worked our what your horsepower per acre is?
Oh 1455 and the David brown 1690
Can't beat a seven series Fendt Olly! Congrats on 100k 👍
1st black fent Last mb trak. Prefer claass and fords to deers
How would the fastrac rate if you still had one
The Solis must deserve a place in the top 10, possibly No. 1 for the things it can do. 😊
True
Hi olly me and my friend are your favourite
Great video olly a good top ten I’m 98% today
