I'm the composer for this game so thought I'd chime in- it's actually a pretty early beta as we were asked to rush out a demo for the anniversary. But it's a small team and progress is made every week. Glad you liked my music though! (more of it on my channel btw)
cool! yea it feels very early, especially with character animations being missing too, but as the team was requested to do a release for the anniversary possibly at a later notice it's very understandable

I feel bad that it was rushed for the week, they should have just released the trailer and waited to release a full beta. Great work on the music though! The midnight motorist one is fun and reminds me of the original :)

5:50 the way the whole nightshift thing works is that the wolf goes after whoever the racer with the lowest battery currently is. A neat way of adapting and incentivising Fnaf style power management, I think

What? Her sticking to the wall? There’s a part of the level where you drive upside down and the purple sparks you see is some type of artificial gravity energy or something. It’s supposed to be like that although you’re clearly not supposed to drive up the walls and into the void.
i got a glitch on the midnight motorist track where it told me to "WAKE UP" and prompting me to use the joystick somehow and then the game crashed. i believe it might be a unfinished mechanic left over.
back in my day demo meant "free snippet of a game you can download to see if you'd like the full version" and not "unfinished alpha dumped onto the public"
@@CrumpetTV I see you replying to every comment. It's okay to want the game to be good, but people giving valid criticism of the demo doesn't mean they automatically hate the game. Demos, typically, show a small completed portion of the game. Most demos don't release in such a broken state. In an age where unfinished games are released at full price and just slapped with an "early access" title, I think folks have a right to call this out. Especially with how some devs use "early access" and "demos" to hide from criticism of a game's core design.
100% it feels like nothing has any weight to it which makes for such an awful kart game when that should be the 1st or 2nd fundamental of any driving game

I got softlocked in the Midnight Motor Track where a Traffic Car launched me out of bounds however I bypassed the turn back zone but ended up on the other side of it, meaning whenever I tried to get back on track it would time out before I could get back & it'd respawn me in the out of bounds spots over and over again.
I guess they don’t understand that a demo is supposed to demonstrate what the full game is going for so when the demo is bad than people will think that the final game will be bad..
yeah the gameplay is very good. It just takes a second to get used to and maybe changing the controls on the menu. The glitches were only the bad thing for me. Though the lack of local multiplayer made me sad. It's likely this was rushed to release for FNAF's Birthday.

Honeslty, I can forgive the fact that the game is buggy since this is just a demo and not the final product. Hopefully they'll fix most of the problems in the full release. My main issue with the game is how everything looks. The game looks too smooth and bland, but it's expected since this, like I said, isn't the full release. Also it was kinda of a dick move to advertise this as a demo. This looks like an unfinished alpha build
Yeah I agree with everything looking bland, it feels like every single thing from hud to maps to character and karts, we’re all designed with different artstyles. The game doesn’t feel like it fits it’s literally looking like the characters are just a skin mod. The lighting also seems way too overly realistic with this weird blend of cartoony and realism. I honestly hate how people are comparing this to fnaf world.. that game is great. Even if this didn’t have all of these flaws I would prefer fnaf world forever.
The problem is that this is being advertised purely as a demo and not as any form of early access / developmental beta build for dev feedback (beyond the massive amount of bug reports but im talking about the larger issues that make the game feel like the project was started last month)
Pretty sure how the night shift mechanic works is that during 6pm - 6am, night shift will happen and the endoskeleton will begin chasing the racer with the lowest amount of battery and the big red bar is the health bar for the endo which you could fend off with items, which is a pretty interesting mechanic. Wish the game actually anything to you.
Anyone under the belief this game can be made decent within the coming year needs to understand that this isn't early access. This is a demo. They put this out as if they put out a small snippet of a mostly complete game. I could see a lot of the bugs being fixed, but they'd have to do some crazy shit to get everything else good. Let us criticize it. Being a "demo" does not excuse terrible quality.

@@SchnortWell, it's kind of true (edit: the second statement). In the case of SB and the FLAF demo, the games have been rushed. Clickteam probably took 50% of their development time making the pretty character models. And we still got Bonnie and BB. Though, Steel Wool have redeemed themselves since and FLAF has yet to be fully released.
The security breach track is beyond broken you can literally see the computer drivers just, get stuck and not move for the rest of the race I was wondering if there was any sort of rubberbanding but i genuinely cant tell if the computer drivers randomly speed up bc they spend so long stuck you literally get gargantuan amounts of vantage (if you can manage with the god awful vehicle handling)
Since this is just a beta test, the players are basically bug testers, they probably released this as a way to just find as many bugs as possible as fast as possible so they can start fixing things immediately
5:40 The nightshift works like this: It's not random, the timer at the top of the screen tells you when it will be day or night The animatronic only chases you if you have the lowest amount of battery compared to everyone else racing This is all I gathered from playing, hope this helps!
I actually have enjoyed the demo so far I don’t mind the art style except for maybe a few characters like Balloon Boy that look a bit weird. My only real complaint with the game are the Default controls. There really weird I don’t know who at clickteam thought it was a good idea to have Left Trigger be Accelerate and right be drift When ever other Kart racer has it the other way around. But after changing the controls I really started to have fun with it! And yeah the security breach track is a bit broken the only reason I was able to get first place is because all the other Cars got stuck.
I played the game as soon as I could, and was quite “humored by the poor game quality and numerous bugs. However, I can see the potential is there should it have been held back before release, maybe, but I do appreciate Scott’s dedication to this release schedule because man, this needed to cook some more.
2:36 The class bar changes the STATS of the car you chose. With a character with low class, the cupcake car is a low speed high acceleration car, but with a character with high class like chica, it becomes a middle of the road car, being about the middle in every stat. 6:00 The night shift is on a set timer and is unaffected by your performance. The wolf endoskeleton thingy will come after you only if you have the lowest battery. If you don’t collide with everything, the computers who put everything in a 16 mile radius in danger of being a count of vehicular manslaughter against them will be the ones most of the time. If you have the icon above your head, you’re chased by them. They can be killed/scared by using offensive items, which is what the health bar at the top is for. Asides from that, if you’re not colliding with everything it’s basically a better looking version of the course. Also you can consume battery for better items by holding the item button down.
5:50 from my understanding the night shift lasts from 6pm to 6am and the animatronic thing will target the racer with the lowest battery. When it hits you obviously loose speed and stop for a second like when any other power up hits you (eg bomb laser ect). I think it also then refills your battery if you get hit too?? Not certain
Yeah, experienced a out of bounds on Midnight Motorist where I got launched into the air on the highway and went into an infinite respawn loop with it registering me going out of bounds when I was playing on the track normally
Gotta be honest i really didn't had problems with the controls, yeah at first they feel weird but once i got used to them i was actually enjoying the game until it crashed!

I do agree with your points, and given the game was just released, I do imagine ClickTeam will improve the demo overtime, and I’m pretty sure this is their first FNAF release. Still, I’m willing to give them a chance to fix FLAF. Despite all the flaws, the game does look cool. 😀👍 I will say this game does sound like a disappointment, but overall, the Week of FNAF was really good. 😀👌

@@Notcobra66 People expect something that's functional at the very least and hopefully fun. The point of a demo is to give people a chance to try out a game to see if they want to buy it. This demo is so bad, it probably reduced the potential sales of the game unless it gets a massive glowup. A delay outright _needs_ to happen, we're more than halfway through 2024, if the game is set to release anytime before the tail-end of 2025, they have less than a year to polish it into something _playable._
(unconfirmed) The character "Class" bars are to represent the values of the CupKart, it changes values depending on how high or low. The "Nightshift" event and "WolfEndo" is when you need to have the highest battery percentage in the match or WolfEndo will attack you.
Sonic ‘06 and Garfield Kart had a baby that was this demo, a thing I notice is that a usual demo is like a small portion of cooked meat that’s a part of the bigger piece, this demo was that but they haven’t even thought of cooking it
A huge problem with the endo is that its always BEHIND you, so you cant really hit it, and obviously when it goes online noone will be willing to help you beat them. That needs a rework.
On the midnight motorist highway, i think it's intentionally hard on the right side because there's the entrance to the shortcut. You can just drive on the left to make it easy

A short summary on how i think the nightshift section works: there is the time at the top middle which in the times between 6:00PM and 6:00AM the nightshift takes place. at 12:00AM the robot will chase after the player with the lowest turbo battery thing on the right, this can be recharged with the magnet powerup which takes power from others or running over the recharge pads on the floor. During the nightshift, your battery will slowly drain until the end of the night. Also, getting hit will reduce your battery, as shown in the trailer. The Battery can have its max storage upgraded by the blue battery upgrade tokens on the racetrack with a max of 5 picked up at once. You can also pickup orange kart upgrade tokens (i think) that upgrade your max top speed (possibly, just guessing). You will drop some of these tokens if hit by a powerup. (the tokens collected are displayed on the right next to the battery) The way this is implemented makes me feel that using the boost to be useless as it uses battery way too fast and makes it almost certain that you will be jumpscared by the robot as there are few recharge pads and the magnet is rare. I believe that the "class" bar means the characters weight and guessing from other games it means that the heavier the character, the slower the acceleration and faster the max top speed. The powerups in this game can be fired both forwards and backwards, some dont work if aiming backwards (cupcake) and others only fire backwards (the door). For some unknown reason, the bomb acts differently depending on if you fire it backwards than if you fired it forwards, where if you fire it forwards it acts like a regular mario kart bomb omb, but if you fire it backwards it becomes a mine that activates when driven into (kinda like the mine from lbpk). this is odd and i have not found any other item to work like this. Also there is one item i have no idea how it works, and that is the shattered mirror, it doesent last long but doesent seem to do much other than surround the player. it might be a self defence feature but im not too sure. The turning in the game is odd, as the regular turn works alright unless at speed and coming into a steep turn, but other than that i dont see any use for the drifting as it is way too steep of a turn to be useful, and i have never gotten a miniturbo. (to be fair i do still need to try the other two tracks, im a great source of information) Also for those wondering, the Start of The Race Boost is from holding acceleration between two and one in the countdown, not sure when precisely, but its somewhere near there. (this is what my acoustic brian picked up from 22 minutes playtime ( 5 times doing the first race) )

despite all the issues this game has, iv found myself re-playing it several times these past few days. i found a few workarounds to these glitches aswell as figured out how most of the mechanics work. i think its a great game and i hope they fix these glitches and improve this demo, there is SO much potential here
1. that doesn't excuse it of criticism for its flaws 2. A demo is typically a shortened slice of the game that can be played for free either just before or alongside a full release whilst what you are describing is that of an open access beta which has not been suggested in anyway besides from the game itself being broken.
However it is not a positive sign of things to come especially with steelwool's track record. Also there are many early access demos that are released to a high standard, many of which are made my much smaller teams on a much smaller budget, this quality is inexcusable for fnaf which is now a high profile ip that needs to held to the expectations of its position

Garfield Kart is a masterpiece and ultimate evolution of kart racing games compared with this one

yeah the gameplay is very good. It just takes a second to get used to and maybe changing the controls on the menu. The glitches were only the bad thing for me. Though the lack of local multiplayer made me sad. It's likely this was rushed to release for FNAF's Birthday.
The excuse that this game is a demo and has a right to be this broken is unjustifiable.

A demo is meant to be a small part of a near finished game, this is more like an alpha build. Comparing this with TJOC demo or any demo shows that this game is much too early in the development cycle to be a demo.

Honeslty, I can forgive the fact that the game is buggy since this is just a demo and not the final product. Hopefully they'll fix most of the problems in the full release.
My main issue with the game is how everything looks. The game looks too smooth and bland, but it's expected since this, like I said, isn't the full release.

Yeah I agree with everything looking bland, it feels like every single thing from hud to maps to character and karts, we’re all designed with different artstyles. The game doesn’t feel like it fits it’s literally looking like the characters are just a skin mod. The lighting also seems way too overly realistic with this weird blend of cartoony and realism. I honestly hate how people are comparing this to fnaf world.. that game is great. Even if this didn’t have all of these flaws I would prefer fnaf world forever.
The problem is that this is being advertised purely as a demo and not as any form of early access / developmental beta build for dev feedback (beyond the massive amount of bug reports but im talking about the larger issues that make the game feel like the project was started last month)

Pretty sure how the night shift mechanic works is that during 6pm - 6am, night shift will happen and the endoskeleton will begin chasing the racer with the lowest amount of battery and the big red bar is the health bar for the endo which you could fend off with items, which is a pretty interesting mechanic. Wish the game actually anything to you.

The security breach track is beyond broken you can literally see the computer drivers just, get stuck and not move for the rest of the race
I was wondering if there was any sort of rubberbanding but i genuinely cant tell if the computer drivers randomly speed up bc they spend so long stuck you literally get gargantuan amounts of vantage (if you can manage with the god awful vehicle handling)
It crashed for me everytime i got to a certain part in midnight motorist. Literally everything else was fine except that level for me and idk why.

Since this is just a beta test, the players are basically bug testers, they probably released this as a way to just find as many bugs as possible as fast as possible so they can start fixing things immediately

It's not random, the timer at the top of the screen tells you when it will be day or night
The animatronic only chases you if you have the lowest amount of battery compared to everyone else racing

Tbh i really liked this game even if it’s a bug getting run over.
I actually have enjoyed the demo so far I don’t mind the art style except for maybe a few characters like Balloon Boy that look a bit weird. My only real complaint with the game are the Default controls. There really weird I don’t know who at clickteam thought it was a good idea to have Left Trigger be Accelerate and right be drift When ever other Kart racer has it the other way around. But after changing the controls I really started to have fun with it! And yeah the security breach track is a bit broken the only reason I was able to get first place is because all the other Cars got stuck.
I played the game as soon as I could, and was quite “humored by the poor game quality and numerous bugs. However, I can see the potential is there should it have been held back before release, maybe, but I do appreciate Scott’s dedication to this release schedule because man, this needed to cook some more.
2:36 The class bar changes the STATS of the car you chose. With a character with low class, the cupcake car is a low speed high acceleration car, but with a character with high class like chica, it becomes a middle of the road car, being about the middle in every stat.
6:00 The night shift is on a set timer and is unaffected by your performance. The wolf endoskeleton thingy will come after you only if you have the lowest battery. If you don’t collide with everything, the computers who put everything in a 16 mile radius in danger of being a count of vehicular manslaughter against them will be the ones most of the time. If you have the icon above your head, you’re chased by them. They can be killed/scared by using offensive items, which is what the health bar at the top is for. Asides from that, if you’re not colliding with everything it’s basically a better looking version of the course. Also you can consume battery for better items by holding the item button down.

When it hits you obviously loose speed and stop for a second like when any other power up hits you (eg bomb laser ect). I think it also then refills your battery if you get hit too?? Not certain

Yeah, experienced a out of bounds on Midnight Motorist where I got launched into the air on the highway and went into an infinite respawn loop with it registering me going out of bounds when I was playing on the track normally

@@Notcobra66 People expect something that's functional at the very least and hopefully fun. The point of a demo is to give people a chance to try out a game to see if they want to buy it. This demo is so bad, it probably reduced the potential sales of the game unless it gets a massive glowup. A delay outright _needs_ to happen, we're more than halfway through 2024, if the game is set to release anytime before the tail-end of 2025, they have less than a year to polish it into something _playable._

A short summary on how i think the nightshift section works:
there is the time at the top middle which in the times between 6:00PM and 6:00AM the nightshift takes place. at 12:00AM the robot will chase after the player with the lowest turbo battery thing on the right, this can be recharged with the magnet powerup which takes power from others or running over the recharge pads on the floor. During the nightshift, your battery will slowly drain until the end of the night. Also, getting hit will reduce your battery, as shown in the trailer.
The Battery can have its max storage upgraded by the blue battery upgrade tokens on the racetrack with a max of 5 picked up at once. You can also pickup orange kart upgrade tokens (i think) that upgrade your max top speed (possibly, just guessing). You will drop some of these tokens if hit by a powerup. (the tokens collected are displayed on the right next to the battery)
The way this is implemented makes me feel that using the boost to be useless as it uses battery way too fast and makes it almost certain that you will be jumpscared by the robot as there are few recharge pads and the magnet is rare.
I believe that the "class" bar means the characters weight and guessing from other games it means that the heavier the character, the slower the acceleration and faster the max top speed.
The powerups in this game can be fired both forwards and backwards, some dont work if aiming backwards (cupcake) and others only fire backwards (the door). For some unknown reason, the bomb acts differently depending on if you fire it backwards than if you fired it forwards, where if you fire it forwards it acts like a regular mario kart bomb omb, but if you fire it backwards it becomes a mine that activates when driven into (kinda like the mine from lbpk). this is odd and i have not found any other item to work like this. Also there is one item i have no idea how it works, and that is the shattered mirror, it doesent last long but doesent seem to do much other than surround the player. it might be a self defence feature but im not too sure.
The turning in the game is odd, as the regular turn works alright unless at speed and coming into a steep turn, but other than that i dont see any use for the drifting as it is way too steep of a turn to be useful, and i have never gotten a miniturbo. (to be fair i do still need to try the other two tracks, im a great source of information)
Also for those wondering, the Start of The Race Boost is from holding acceleration between two and one in the countdown, not sure when precisely, but its somewhere near there.
(this is what my acoustic brian picked up from 22 minutes playtime ( 5 times doing the first race) )

despite all the issues this game has, iv found myself re-playing it several times these past few days. i found a few workarounds to these glitches aswell as figured out how most of the mechanics work. i think its a great game and i hope they fix these glitches and improve this demo, there is SO much potential here
