For those that say 'It's just hair' ponder on this. It's not 'just hair' it's part of identifying a culture. If it's neat and clean and is styled in a way that is safe for them to perform their duties I don't give a flip if they are bald or have hair to the floor. It has no bearing on the work that needs to be done! And if I were told to cut my hair, there would be a fight in the courts. My hair length is part of my faith and culture.

Firefighter Mosby appears on TV to be an intelligent man. Hey he became a Captain! Hair shouldn’t mean a thing in this day and age!

I always cover my hair before interviews. They don’t hire us with Afros. Don’t say I’m lying because I already tested the theory. As soon as I put on a wig, I was hired. But I quit because the police kept pulling me over in Maplewood.
