Hi everyone! I have my 2nd spinal fusion surgery scheduled for 25 October and preparing for that has kept me very busy. I also have some unexpected family issues hitting the fan that are taking up a lot of my time. I quit smoking 15 days ago as well... I am completely stressed out! With all this going on the next month is going to be very crazy for me and I'm not sure how much recording/editing/uploading I will be able to do, mainly due to the surgery next Friday. Angelina is a jazz singer at her core & she sings naturally, on the fly, as she feels it. Therefore, she never sings a song the same way twice. That's great for her fans since each performance is unique. The only down side for an artist is it makes it much more difficult to lip-sync her songs while filming a Music video. Ella Fitzgerald, one of the greatest jazz singers of all time, had the same problem, since she did a lot of adlibs & scatting that was impossible to replicate. Toby Gad made an album called Piano Diaries reimagining some of his popular songs. At Angelina's recent sold out show in LA, he told a story of how he thought Angelina was the only person who could perform this song the way he wanted it done. I'm so glad these two put this together and are still working on new music together. They released a new original "Bad Valentine" on the day of her show and it's amazing!

The person on piano is Toby Gad, the co-writer of the song. The other songwriter is BC Jean. The song is based on Jean's breakup from a man that she was in love with. Toby and Angelina are currently creating new music for her to sing. Working with Toby is a big deal for her.

Angelina is a jazz singer at her core & she sings naturally, on the fly, as she feels it. Therefore, she never sings a song the same way twice. That's great for her fans since each performance is unique. The only down side for an artist is it makes it much more difficult to lip-sync her songs while filming a Music video. Ella Fitzgerald, one of the greatest jazz singers of all time, had the same problem, since she did a lot of adlibs & scatting that was impossible to replicate. I hope your surgery goes well & congratulations on quitting smoking. Best of luck & we will be waiting for your return.

Toby Gad made an album called Piano Diaries reimagining some of his popular songs. At Angelina's recent sold out show in LA, he told a story of how he thought Angelina was the only person who could perform this song the way he wanted it done. I'm so glad these two put this together and are still working on new music together. They released a new original "Bad Valentine" on the day of her show and it's amazing!

I have seen Angelina perform live twice - once in Las Vegas and more recently at her concert at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA - I can say that she sounds even better live than on video.

In this video the pianist is Toby Gad .. yes the same co-writer of the song .. the Piano Diaries are a celebration of his hit songs. He invited Angelina to England with him to perform .. this is the seventh version I have heard.

The second version was a studio recording which was laid over the video .. that is why is sounds so good.
The third version is recorded in the church so therefore the acoustics.

She does like to slow down the tempo on covers. She does have a lot more control, especially in loudness, can go soft or loud much better. As good as that cover is, my favorite version is still GEM 2014.

john Over the years, many made fun of her "rabbit teeth" and "gummy" smile. I agree that both were charismatically unique and I wouldn't have changed a thing. But it's understandable that when a child gets singled out for their physical differences, they can become quite self-conscious and, perhaps, develop a poor self-image. So it shouldn't be a surprise that Angelina, in this case, would want to correct this "perfect imperfection". As for Sara stopping her: she has had her own teeth capped. Woulda been quite hypocritical.
