I believe the defendant, partially because her story is believable and partially because she's clearly not money-grabbing. "Stephanie" sounds like the plaintiff, thinking that being sued on JJ and choosing to make no money is chasing her "15 minutes of fame".
Plaintiff seems like exactly the type of person who doesn't take no for an answer and gets angry & pushes limits when she doesn't get her own way... Just look at how she's responding to JJ telling her that ignoring a problem for 5 months isn't ok, and that the defendants were reasonable and within their rights.
Plaintiff should be apologising for depriving the defendants of their own land for more than 2 years, not suing them. She's a typical Karen.

@@hijabibeautiful they are allowed to remedy the situation themselves. Fence was on their property. That said, neither side handled it well. Defendants could have got a contractor to take down the fence, returned the materials to plaintiff and sued for the cost. Or split the cost of a new fence right on the property line, or offered to contribute to re-erect it on the property line since they have kids in the yard to protect.
Plaintiff seems like someone who causes conflict but plays the victim when someone decides to fight back. Judge Judy is gonna strike her down if I’m right lmao

I honestly don't fully believe the defendant. If the guy asked the plaintiff to move the fence, why did it take 2 years to say anything again? Personally, I think that they were fine with it, until they weren't. Also, if you're doing something like that in the night, unless it's an emergency, it usually means that you are doing something that you're not supposed to. It's possible that the law JJ was talking about wasn't in effect for them.
Best thing to do is get a survey done and get a court order for the offender to take it down, and do it as soon as possible. That way there is evidence to everything.

If they did do it at night, they probably did it to avoid confrontation with the lunatic plaintiff. The plaintiff was the one who was unsure about property lines. The defendants never said they were unsure.

Anytime you put up a fence or any type of structure, a property survey should be done. In my city, even the concrete in the postholes have to be on your side of the property line, making the posts at least a couple of inches inside the property line. JJ is right on the money when she mentions adverse posession. I don't care if it's two inches, you never give it up.

Hey dont mock chain link! We bought a home in 1984 that was right on the way to the shopping plaza - for lazy people who wanted to walk through private yards. We fenced the entire half acre back yard in HD chain link, 6ft tall, one industrial sized gate. It was $2900. Thats in 1984. To me that is not cheap.
Chain length fences are ugly. You get a survey before you build the fence. I had to do that in order to get a permit.

Surveying is not a couple of hundred dollars…it’s thousands. Anywhere from $1,000 and up, often over $2,000. It’s a lot. The lady had no business doing what she did- she should have had it surveyed. Just wanted to point out that cost is bs that JJ suggested.
