I could see myself doing that if I had more than one Ubiquity device in my rack. My existing Cat 6A and Cat 7 keystones are already silver (in a black panel). I would have an issue with sever of my miscellaneous keystones (some HDMI and other USB).
Well.. I did that because of font size. I didn't want it to be too small. Originally I had GST but the font was too big. So I decided to go with GEST so the font would be smaller but not too small. It's intentional. The cables are labeled with the full name of where ever they lead too.
Hi there, I recently upgraded my setup to AT&T 5 gig speeds and also upgraded my network setup to the UDM SE PRO, 8 port Aggregation switch, 48 port pro-POE switch, and Enterprise 8 port POE switch. I am having trouble getting the SFP+ ports on the switches to deliver 5 gig speeds. They are getting capped at 2.5 gigs. If I connect the PC directly to the UDM SE Pro, I am seeing the 5 gig speeds. I am using Cat6a cables and when I connect to the At&t router directly, I can see the speeds are 5 gigs. It's only at the switch level that the speeds are capped. Would you happen to know why this could be happening?
@@SPXLabs The SFP module is working fine. I could confirm this by connecting it to the UDM Pro and my PC and I was able to get full 5 gig speeds. But when the SFP module is on the switches, the speeds are getting capped at 2.5 gigs. Any idea why this could be happening?
How is the heat in you rack? I'm looking at building out a similar rack layout at my church but was entertaining the thought of a 12U rack for more separation for cooling? What are your thoughts on that.
I’ll be releasing a video next week I think about it. But here is this ua-cam.com/video/mp4YUNBTUyE/v-deo.html And ua-cam.com/video/adxk6DP5md8/v-deo.html
First guess is 6" or something. Monoprice has thin cables that look great for super short runs. I should note that both smaller cables and shorter cables are out of official spec but whatever, they work fine.
Absolutely nothing. FS sent this over for me to make a video on how to use them, a bit of a while ago. Today, I just like them aesthetically and will continue to use them.
@@SPXLabs That makes sense and thank you for the explanation. I've found few legitimate uses for shielded cable outside of industrial and a couple unique situations where shielded ethernet was a necessity. Even then its usually easier to install OM3. Your rack does look clean with the patchpanel and the look of the metallic jacks does have a nice aesthetic look.
Just to be more clear here too, originally I assumed you meant the keystones but now I realize you meant the actual cable. I don’t have shielded cable. It’s all unshielded.
@@SPXLabs Besides being more expensive and a stiffer cable I don't see how it would add anything of value to the install. Your rack is very clean and organized. Its nice to see someone on youtube who understands cable management.
since you KEEP updating your rack YOu need to switch over to RACK STUDS it makes a world of difference and wonder why the heck you didn't do so sooner. I have a 15 u with mostly Unifi equipment for a church setup and it makes it SO much easier when you do need to pull something out.
I actually had a different better song but it got flagged as copyright even though I had permission to use it. Was too much trouble for me “fight” it so I chose this one because it was the best of all 60 or so tracks I listened to right as I was over it.
Yo Jay, so literally after complaining to you about the music, youtube rolled out a Beta music thing where you can select music from other content creators and no joke, the creator's who's music I would have used is now available to me copyright free.... Like are you serious!
@@SPXLabs They are changing many rules at the moment, it's always for the profits ... If you use other creators' content then YT doesnt have to pay RIAA etc there's probably some fine print allowing it
I'd love to pay or use the OG's person stuff but until now there was no way to do it. In the past, all of the money was compensated to the copyright owner, which is dumb. Splitting or sharing is fine IMO. But now we can straight up buy a license to the music for youtube which is DOPE AF.

I pretty much exclusively use keystone patch panels now. They just make life so much easier.
Just the flexibility alone makes them so nice. Don't think I'd ever go back at this point.
I should label mine like that, looks really clean!
I saw the typos though .... "GEST" instead of "GUEST" etc ... gave me shivverrs ...
I label everything! even if it's the detriment of the look of it.
@@SPXLabs One could also argue that mis-labeling is a security feature like "FUD" e.g. noone would find the "GEST" room in the house
@@SPXLabs I should start doing that on my own stuff. I already do it when I'm doing it for work but I guess I got lazy.

why are you using sfp+ trancivers and multimode fiber instead of 1m dac cables ??
A long time ago in a lab far away it’s all I had and it worked so I just kept using it instead of switching it out.

Sounds like an issue with the SFP module. I can definitely verify that the UDM Pro works with ATT 5Gbps internet

Unifi patch panel with shield keystone, Love it!!
Same super clean look!
Nice, we need to get you some rack studs now.
If you ever visit me I will have plenty of stud for my rack.
And we need to get silver metallic spray paint for the rack

I refuse to use anything other than keystone patch panels. They are just so versitile, even for non-Ethernet usecases
Yup. You won't get any disagreements with me. I will do this from now on too.
Do you have link to that wall mount rack?

Where can i get that Shirt?????
I don’t believe you can buy it anymore. It was a limited run thing a right when the breach was announced
That looks great! Just like that beard!
You always know what to say to a lady to make them feel good.
@@SPXLabs wife strongly disagrees.
If she is still with you then you most be doing a good enough job.
On the next video of spx labs I switched out my black patch panel because it was off putting being next to my ubiquity equipment
You know too much! Who are you? The FBI? If you are you are legally required to tell me.
@@SPXLabs haha 😂 I only know because that black patch would be killing me also
Slowly converting to gray or “satin aluminium” gang. Switching the black one out will be super easy since it’s keystones also. Hell yeah

Idk man. Black is the best colour of all time.
what length are those blue and white patch leads?

Yeah thanks for replying for me. Get busy or miss them from time to time. Yes, 6 inch is right.
What did the migration from the non-shielded cat6 to shielded 6a do for your setup?

He had them, lel

NEVER! I refuse. I'm just cheap and lazy. Mostly cheap. Also not doing it is a great way to get you guys involved!
Next step: using the nice thin Unifi Patch cables...
I did in the past but the heads kept pulling away from the cables
It looks creepy without blank plugs 😂
The real sad part is. I can fill the blanks but it’s been more than a year and I have not done it. lol
