- This video shows you the process that I followed to install a VDO oil pressure sender onto a Volvo Redblock engine, in my 1991 Volvo 940. This is the type of oil pressure sender you need to install when you want to add an oil pressure gauge, but you also want to retain the factory Low Oil Pressure light on your dash.
Do you have to drain the oil before doing this? Thanks for the helpful video!
If i was to do this, could i add a oil temp gauge from that sender?
I'm about to do this exact thing on my 1991 240! great video!
Thank you! I had a hard time finding this info when I was planning, so that’s why I made the video.
FYI: VDO 360 028 has the right threads, you don't need the adapter.
For anyone coming across this in the future. You still need some sort of male to female adapter as the pressure sender will hit on the block before it's tightened. I went with the aforementioned 360-028 sender and found a M14 x 1.5 male to female gauge adapter about 1.5" long.
@@Craycola On this sender, the seal should be formed by a copper crush washer. The adapter should work, of course.
Thanks for the video on this! Where'd you get your gauge pod holder?
Thanks for the feedback! The gauge holder was a 3D printed item from eBay. If you search for something like “single DIN triple gauge” then you should find similar ones.
Please note that the setup in my car only works on the 760, 960, and 940 SE. It would not work on the other 740 or 940 cars, because they don’t have the true double-DIN design.
Awesome thanks! I have an SE too and my gauges are just jerry-rigged atm but yours is a much cleaner way to do it 😂
My alternator is down there, I don't know if it wil have enough space. Does anyone have experience with that?
I agree; great video.
May I suggest links to the parts purchased for the install?
Good suggestion! I will try and remember this for future videos.
