Peter Forsberg as forward and Niklas Lidstrom as defender.
and Lundqvist as goalie, though that one was so obvious it didnt even need to mentioned lol (neither did Lidstrom at that point to be fair lol)
id say there is no argument for forwards either to be fair, sundin is great and all but forsberg was special special@@MachLandar

Biggest moment for Swedish Hockey. Crosby may have the "goal" for Canada, but Lidstrom has the olympic gold medal game winning goal against arch enemy Finland in a best on best.
Easy clap for nr 5.
Hard to beat
But if it wasnt for Salming blazing the trail swedes would all have had a hard time making it in NHL
Lidstrom. Best defenseman of all time!
Bobby Orr best hockey player of all time
@@davidjohnson-fw5coworst hockey knees of all time though unfortunately. Gotta go Lidstrom here
Bobby Orr bud come on
Orr Lidstrom was good but nowhere near Orr

Forsberg, for his special mix of great skill, grit and winner's mentality.
It has to be Nicklas Lidström. If Peter wouldn’t have had literally over 30 surgeries he would’ve been the best swedish player and arguably a top 5 player of all time. And Peter was built differently than all other superstars. He made 100million playing hockey and even more outside hockey, and to have all those surgeries to try to come back is insane. And when he ruptured his spleen against the Kings they had to force him to go the hospital, and 2 days after he was the Avs practice facility begging to play in the next game.
Lidstrom averaged 25+ minutes on ice for 4 Stanley Cup teams, majority of those minutes against the NHL's top talent. The impact his play had in the defensive end had on the game is unrivaled in NHL history. Nobody was a better defender and breakout passer than Lidstrom. The ultimate shutdown defenseman. Just because he didn't play with the flashy exciting skills does not mean he didn't impact the game just as much if not more. I think he really is one of the best hockey players all time and I do think he is the best swede.
Mats Sundin hands down. A leader, offensive skills, toughness, deceptively good playmaker, best back hand, strong as a horse, physical, 6'5 marquee center. He's the Swedish Mario Lemieux. Considering he played in Toronto which is the hardest market to play in and often didn't have much talent around him (all due respect to Steve Thomas, Gary Roberts, Gary Valk, Sergei Berezin, Igor Korolev, Alyn MacCauley, Nik Antropov, Jonas Hoglund, Nic Hagman,....great wingers....he still put up those numbers and captained Sweden to win the Gold Medal too.
Sundin is loved for being a Leaf and he had a fine career but he was never great. I hate to break it to people but the only reason he is in the HOF is because he was a Leaf. He puts up the same career with Phoenix and he never sniffs the hall like Roenick or waits a long time like Turgeon.
@@rv2167 LOL that's absurd, Sundin is the highest scoring Swede in NHL history at 1,349 points (30th all time) You're prepared to argue that the most prolific scoring Swede to ever play in the NHL (Sundin) at 25th all time in goals, doesn't sniff the hall of fame? lay off the crack dude.
100% agree. I don't know what rv2167 is talking about. Sundin is the #1 all time scoring Swede in NHL history as you said and he's proven himself to be great even on a very difficult market and team like Toronto. I was most impressed when he led Sweden to Olympic Gold in 2006 ...recording 8 points in 8 games (3 goals and 5 assists). When I saw Sundin play as a non-leaf, then you truly realize how great he was because it was frightening to play AGAINST him when we in Toronto were so used to seeing him on our team.@@KP-wt8qr

Any answer that's not Nick Lidstrom is just wrong.
idk man, id say there is a difference between 'greatest' and 'best', Lidström is without a doubt the greatest of all time but I give a small edge to Forsberg for pure talent
@@kriho02 yeah if forsberg played the same amount of games as Lidstrom, he would be far superior
Hard to pic one out of so many. Byt it's insane that this little country hos fostered so many great hockey players.
Kent ”Mr Magic” Nilsson of course. What’s there to argue about?
Lidstrom & Foresberg
Loui Eriksson
Nick Lindstrom on D for sure, and as much as it pains me to say as a Red Wings fan that watched the huge rivalry between the Wings and Avs, I'd have to agree probably Foresberg as forward.
Nick Lidstrom, followed by Peter Forsberg
Lidstrom #5 is #1 Swedish NHL Defender of All Time.
I love how much they force Toronto into the conversation.
It was a Leafs vs. Wild game intermission so of course they focused on Leafs and Wild.
Why wouldn’t they? Sundin and Salming were up there with the best Swedes ever and they were the face of the Leafs for years. Change your diaper, Peter Pan.
Has to be Lidstrom no comparison for anyone else. Why would this even be a question?
"like hitting a vending machine full of sand bags".....great analogy
Tough choice between Forsberg & Salming. If you grew up watching hockey during Salmings guts & determination years, you know why.
Yeah, Salming did the hard work, broke trail, laid foundation.
Pick whoever you want, it just shows preference... but not acknowledging Salming shows egregious disrespect and ignorance.
If you ask any boomer its Börje here in Sweden. If you ask anyone after its Forsberg, Sundin or Lidström.
Who are top 5? Would Naslund or Sedins make it? Alfredson?
No-one makes it without Borje Salming, after that it's basically a popularity contest... Borje Salming shed his blood so you could play here, what have you done to make you worthy?
Lol.
I took a hiatus from hockey when the Sedin era was drawing to a close, when I return, every single team in the NHL is attempting to recreate Sedinery.
Turns out that what they were doing seemed like magic, but it was actually just science that was a little past our ability to comprehend, lol.
Imo as a third generation Swede, Borje Salming is equivalent to Babe Ruth, Gordie Howe, and Wilt Chamberlain in terms of impacting North American hockey from a Swedish perspective , the other major influencers mostly hailing from the small town of Ornskoldsvik or thereabouts.
You can argue about who played the game the best, but but if you're talking about changing the way the game is played, it's Salming and the Sedins.
@@sports2hedz542Top 5? No. Top 10? Maybe.
Kent Nilsson, Börje Salming, Sundin, Lidström, Forsberg
Lidstrom, Forsburg and Sundin
it is Lidstrom, no qualifications. Arguably greatest dman of all time if you adjust for era, absolutely #2 behind Orr. He was the main anchor for 4 cup wins for the Wings and was excellent almost his entire career. Forsberg was great for a few years, but sadly injuries took away most of his ability to dominate.
For me it’s Forsberg international dominance and NHL Dominance
Forsberg FW
Lidström Defenceman
Lundqvist Goalie
1. Lidstrom 2.Foppa
Salming was also amazing. These guys just didn't grow up in that era, of course.
ya your right. Salming deserves mention. But even as a red wing fan I would probably give it to Forsberg. But Lidstrom as Def is right there
Yeah, Salming did the work building a place for them to stand on his shoulders, bloodied but unbowed...a true legend.
Kent Nilsson, Håkan Loob and Pelle Linbergh as honorable mentions to Salmings era.
Personal favorite must be Forsberg, he had the rare combination of heart, hate to lose mentality and the talent to back it up.
I would argue that he played his best games when the rest of his team had a bad day.
Is Mats Thelin one of the toughest NHL-players ever?
Douglas Murray! Kidding aside, it’s his buddy Nicky!
Lidström,no contest
He did finish 10th.
Hakan Loooooob‼️
😊
Lidstrom
Peter Forsberg was my favorite Swedsh player.
Forsberg
Hardly a "burning question" as much as an interesting topic. I agree Peter the Great was the best Swede, just had his career cut short by injuries, bu he was an immense force.
Nicklas Lidström
#30
Lindstrom was miles ahead of Peter!
Salming led the way.
Lidstrom. It's not even close. His nickname is Mister Perfect, for crying out loud.
Thomas Steen.
Jonas Hoglund
Hakan loob greatest scoring swede
the greatest swedish lineup you can field is 5 peter forsbergs
There have been a lot of them but for my money, as far as forwards are concerned, it’s Peter Forsberg.
Peter Naslund.
Lidstrom and no one else is even close. Or likely ever will be.
P Forsberg.
Peter Forsberg
I'd say Forsberg was more skilled than Lidstrom even though his career was shorter.
If you look at their peaks then i think it’s obvious that Forsberg was better. But Nicklas had a better career, mainly because he never had any major injuries.
Peter Forsberg.
Fors Leds Sund
Salming, Forsberg, Zetterberg, Lindstrum
Lindström for sure. Fobba, Sundin after that in no order KIng Henrik, Börje, Alfie, Z, Karlsson, Bäckström, Sedins, Hedman
Come on man. Hardware and personal accolades. It's Foppa and Lids all day. They can make up Sweden's top 5.
