The premise is great and the build mode seems a lot better than what we had in Sims, but I worry about it turning out bad. I understand the positive reactions, but so far we haven't seen any gameplay, or even models. What also worries me is they also haven't shown any interfaces for choosing furniture, only modification of it. Multiple screens that have to connect with a laptop nearby, bigger beds that touch the wall from one side or chairs directly beside the table look nice, but they seem like a nightmare to program and animate well. It still looks like a damn great building tool, but I worry it will remain just that. Plans and ambitions are really big, as well as the expectations, but after few recent "great expectations" that turned out tragically, I can't help but remain sceptical, even though I hope it turns out fine. At least I guess they can market it as a pretty house planning tool if it doesn't turn out well.
Minerwa Yeah, I'm skeptical too. SUPER skeptical. I've seen too many games like this, starting out strong with tons of support and hype around it before barely anything is even shown to us, then the entire thing crashes and burns because the tiny team of developers bit off more than they could chew and the fan base gets bitter about it. on the discord, the devs compared their current idea of it to the way it works in animal crossing - so more like tunes/noises that seem like spoken words than actual words.
i think i remember reading that it would be similar to the speech in animal crossing, that was awhile ago though so idk if things have changed since then
That would be so cool if we could decide how many days a "year" is. Like, if we decide that a year is 3 days in-game our parafolk could be a year older every 3 days instead of life stages like in The Sims. But that'd be pretty hard to do and I don't expect this at all!
I love that you can build on the edge of the lot I live in a neighborhood were the fences touch and I feel that it was a mistake that you cant in the sims
Yeah in Paralives we can do attached homes like the ones found all over Europe, and actually classify them as separate families on separate lots. It's awesome!
Also, it would be cool to see moderate growth with each life stage. For instance, if I'm playing as a teen, I should see growth spurts, acne, facial hair appear gradually as the teen ages between pre-teen to young adult/adolescent. Same with other life stages; adults' body shapes change over time or get less/more athletic, elders progressively lose mobility gain wrinkles, and aren't as mentally sharp as they once were, etc.
I really like that the price adjusts by size of item, would make for interesting and fun challenges! As for the challenges etc, I’d like to see what Planet Zoo has done. It’s a single player game but there are community challenges such as “have this many pandas” and if you participate, you get cool rewards. Like unlock hidden clothes or items that you can’t cheat to get unlocked, or get achievements to show off on your steam.

As soon as they don’t do something someone wants I feel like everyone will just throw the sims in their face. I’m really excited idek if I’m making sense But I had to say it
Lahna I think it can be detrimental to the game. I wish Paralives was emerging as it's own game without the pressure of living up to making something better than the most recent sims game to pacify unsatisfied simmers. Even if Paralives pushes through the development phase gracefully, if it doesn't live up to most of these unreasonably high expectations that people are throwing onto a small team of developers that they're comparing to a 20-year-old franchise run by a thriving company with lots of money and employees and resources, it's going to be perceived as a watered down version of the Sims that was attempting to cater to the Sims' fan base of demanding and impatient players that are under the assumption that Paralives will be the answer to all of their problems they have with the sims.
these expectations are absolutely ridiculous. I don’t think most of these people realize what actually goes into a game to just have small animations- let alone an entire playable world. even if this game is completed, it won’t be for years. I think they absolutely need their own fan base and not just angry simmers. the game shouldn’t be made of of spite for ea, it should be it’s complete own game
Don’t worry! Form what I’ve seen from playing the sims forever, the right fan base will come after the game is released. People who hate the game will play the Sims whatever. People who love it will play Paralives. Others will love both for what they provide...just like the sims 2 vs 3 vs 4!
I play the Sims (4) , but only because I love life simulation, I don't have any particular attachment to the Sims specifically. In fact I got it when it was on sale for $5 and don't have any packs- especially now that I've watched videos about its many, many flaws. I think the reason why Paralives doesn't have its own fanbase right now is because it's in such early development, and the Sims is the only other game that's like it, so people cant help but make comparisons. Maybe Paralives will bloom into its own once it's actually released.
Well sims is the only simulation game so it makes sense that supporters of paralives are simmers. Actually the devs of paralives are simmers themselves. It doesn't matter if the fans of paralives are also fans of the sims because obviously people are interested in simulation games and the only simulation we know is the sims. Sorry for my bad English 🙃 All I'm saying is it doesn't matter if fans of paralives are simmers because it makes perfect sense why!

We have not seen roof tools yet but I really hope they will have as much control as the walls do. I would also appreciate being able to colour the edges and inside separately, and maybe a selection of roof trims? It would also be great if we could choose to have rafters or frame roofs instead of a simple flat ceiling or empty space.
