Where on a dogs body should you use a stethoscope to hear a dogs heartbeat? I have been hearing the left side is the best and if so is this true and then how do I find the left side of his body to hear it?
How do I know which side of the dogs body is the left side? So then where exactly should I place a stethoscope in order to hear the heartbeat on a dog including a muscular dog? Because I tried to hear the heartbeat of my friends dog which we think is muscular and we were having troubles hearing it ok? Please respond to me real soon ok thanks again
+Aaron Weisgerber the left side of the dog is the same as your left side, so imagine you are the dog. you can hear the heart between the 3rd and 7th intercoastal space. My advice is to use your hand first to feel for the heartbeat and identify the apex of the heart, once you can feel the beat with your hand replace your fingers with the stethoscope. hope that helps, it should work in any dog, muscular or fat or anything! it is harder in cats.
Sweet darling pup. What a wonderful demonstration and participant!
Gus is an amazing dog. We must protect him. We cannot let anything happen to Gus.

What type of vet are you?
We are a small animal veterinary hospital in Pearland, Texas. We see mostly dogs and cats, but we do see some exotic and small pocket-pets.
