Unfortunately if you not buying from normal shop or apple store 99.99%are fakes... i was bought from many different places just to compare and all were fake nothing like one bought from apple store or currys/argos in uk.
Older cables should have the gold plated lines New ones should not But honestly... Buying specific Apple cables is... Expensive, for nothing ^^ As long as it's MFi you're good Though you should stick to real brands, you don't need to spend 20$ for one cable... Though would be a bad idea to buy 2$ cables, or chargers... Check brands like Anker, Adeqwat (actually makes very nice textile cables, bought one today, around 10€, even came up with it's own string to stow it once you're done, or to attach it to other cables) (And drop USB-A if you can, buy USB-C Power Delivery) USB-A only to plug on PC and older chargers... Bought 2 Lightning to USB-A today and I hope those are the last ones...
Hi I bought an 18w cable and adapter that are supposed to be genuine but the type c cable is slightly different from the original one I got in my phone, could it be fake
If you bought from local shop or apple store its genuine for sure, but if you purchased from fb market place, ebay, gumtre etc its more then likely fake.Designed by Apple in California' and either 'Assembled in China', 'Assembled in Vietnam' or 'Indústria Brasileira' on the cable about seven inches from the USB connector. You'll see a 12-digit serial number at the end of this text.
Ali Al Jabri you need buy a adapter, bought genuine one from apple store bit pricy but got now around 4years and no problems at all and looking like new
