Chiming in from germany, i love this vid, thanks for sharing! I grew up with Bochum's "Starlight Express" and it is such a cool show up to this day. Watching the new London approach i really want to see it live. Great costumes and voices; i love how it's translated to our time.
It really is a great show, I hope you get to see it one day as this post show medley, whilst great in itself, does not reflect the beauty and emotion of the show itself.

A few of of my fav theme parks are in Germany, like Europa-Park, Phantasialand, Holiday Park-Plopsa, + Heide Park! I have seen Starlight Express in Bochum 6 times since the 80's 😎 Hamburg was only shown on a TV progrmme in the UK a few weeks ago as well 🤘🏻

I saw this when it was in London years and years ago and loved it to bits and now will be taking my wife to see this in Nov and as she has not seen it before i think she will love it as much as i do.My all time song that i love from this is i am the starlight with all the stars.
Saw this on Sat 16th Nov. We had a different Rusty (swing) on the night - but it didn't detract from the show AT ALL. I'm an ex street skater, and ex hockey skater. Made a name for myself in the late 80's skating at venues all over the UK - so I'm particularly critical as a retired 8-wheeler. Loved Hydrogen (great skater) and OMG 'Lumber' can skate..... he skates street - properly street. Such a shame the production didn't give him more stage presence. Quality night out and great for me to reminisce about how much I miss being on Bauers.
That would be the same Rusty I had the 1st time I saw the show, that curtain call is in the playlet also. That performance also had the swing for pearl but having seen both pairs I can honestly say they were both great.
@@StevesThemeParkShows Totally agree. It's a credit to the production that swapping in the swings doesn't appear to detract from the show. We're all booked in for front row in Feb. Literally can't wait! I'm a musical veteran - but wifee and teenage daughter aren't too keen...... they loved Starlight so much though, that they BOTH insisted that we go back for another go. Daughter now has the 2024 soundtrack on a permanent loop....... 😃😃😃
Did you really came to the show with multiple friends to film the last song ? The result is pretty amazing... :o And the sound is clean ! What kind of sorcery is this..
Lol, we went back to the show as it was so amazing, and got lucky as there were two heavily discounted single seats available in the front row on opposite sides of the center ramp, so we both recorded the medley on our phones and this is what you see here....no sorcery, just fortunate circumstances and 2 Samsung S24 Ultra phones to capture the video and audio :)

From what I can tell the trains only became American when it started to be performed on Broadway as they localised it for the American audience. The originals I'm assuming we're British as it opened in London.
@@TheThunderbirdZero it's cause of the limited space!! loads of the trains have either been removes completely or combined into others, none of the international trains made it into the london version here!
I think Abba's Lay all your love on me was released 3 years before Starlight Express came to Apollo Victoria in 1984. I agree, that the melody sounds very similar indeed

I saw this musical 2 weeks ago. If I could afford it Id go every week. I love all of Andrew Lloyd Webbers musicals xx

@StevesThemeParkShows No; in the original London production, Greaseball was American. And there were a LOT of visiting international locomotives.
