I am an adult child of a malevolent narcissist step mother. She began her sadist treatment of me when I was 4. This video has been therapeutic. I believe she was demon possessed. I have struggled with the command to forgive everyone all things. Perhaps just kicking her out of my mind would be enough. She passed away in 1998. Lord have mercy on our souls.

Col 3:13 We are forgiven when we are sorry, that's when we are forgiven. Do the same for others. When they are sorry and show it. God is not a fool just to forgive to enable or to turn a blind eye. Forgive the way God does, He doesn't forgive just everyone. It's a misunderstanding to forgive to "feel better", God doesn't forgive to "feel better", He forgives when there is a basis. If there was no basis with your step mother, then it was right to leave her treatment in her hands for her to address. Not your job. If she came to you and asked for forgiveness and had made amends to you and for you properly, then the Bible says to forgive. Forgiveness is not a generalization and has nothing to do with feelings.

Luke 17:3,4 “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying 'I repent,' you must forgive them.” Before forgiveness takes place the person must be sorry and genuinely show it in their actions. Just as God is not a fool, He doesn't teach us to be fools either by "just forgiving".

It's a western philosophy to "just forgive". Other countries don't advocate that or talk like that.
