My thoughts.
The girl in black is cupid like being, a spirit meant to cause people to fall in love but after a while, she grows resentful because she wants love for herself. When she meets the male love interest, she becomes obsessed while New Jeans, a group of uncorrupted cupids watch on. The girl in black finally takes on human form to be with the man but the man with white hair punishes her by making her lover fall for someone else.
Alternatively, a darker take is the girl is a succubus meant to sow lust but she falls for a man while a group of angels (New Jeans) watch on. As punishment, the devil, the white haired man, causes her lover to leave her.
Interesting take. I was thinking more like she is every person's that she follows, shadow.

i think hoyeon was the daughter of the man with white hair, amor, making her the goddess of pleasure and delight, making newjeans her graces. this explains why the people in the elevator didn’t remain in love. it was just a short moment of that pleasure, but it was just a fleeting moment of bliss in the end, which is what hoyeon experienced after amor took her away from the human man she fell in love with
What does Tony's character really do? Does he make psyche fall for someone else or make cupid go back to their original form?
I think her role was to connect people who are fated with each other. But she fell in love with someone who was fated to another, so Tony Leung came to fix her mistake.

I love New Jeans but they are from HYBE and they have higher budgets compare to other companies. Having Hoyeon and Tony Leung probably says that the budgets on the MVs are insane. Fans think that Jeong Hoyeon is Eros, the man she loves (Micol) is Psyche, and Tony Leung is Aphrodite. This is what this entire music video means. The final scene of side B is presumed to be her accepting her reality and leaving. 🤩 But you know that Tony leung made their realationship to the time before Micol saw Hoyeon as a person. Tony Leong put the actions that Hoyeon should not have done back to normal.
Yes! The last scene where Eros lady is back in her black clothing and walks towards the New Jeans (cherubs, I guess?) all pissed and disappointed - I assume she realises that they snitched on her and that’s how her Aphrodite father learnt about her messing around with the human.
i had another thought that in the end, hoyeon still wants to be human because her hair is wavy and she's in more human-like clothes than before, but i agree that she decides to leave the gods/goddesses realm behind and maybe search for a new way to live. and she's angry that the muses (newjeans) saw her struggle the whole time and never helped her, cuz they're not allowed to intervene with fate

The girl is the goddess of love. When she gazes at two individuals, they fall in love with each other. Determined, she continues to gaze at him, despite her gaze fixed on the couple on the side, the dating pair still ended up separating (as in the scene where Hanni serves as a waiter), this signifies that she believes she no longer needs to fulfill the role of the goddess of love, and she decides to fall in love with that guy. She strips naked and runs into the rain to reveal herself, and they begin a romantic relationship. However, in the end, his boss appears and uses the same method of gazing to make the guy fall in love with a random woman, reminding she to do her own job.

This mv is basically telling the mythology of Psyche & Cupid! In newjeans version, they reversed the genders where Hoyeon is portraying the role of Cupid, Micol (the love interest) is portraying the role of Psyche and Tony Leung (the “father” lol) is portraying Venus

So my theory :
Hoyeon & Tony leung are the same being. Following human and make them love ach other. It just happens that she got bored with her job and fall in love with this real man. Apparantly I watched the side b first, then the side a. It give me another whole difference experience when digesting the storyline, literally gave me goosebumps.

My take from the mv is that New jeans are angels and the girl who was following people is an angel of love.
I'm pretty sure Hoyeon's a sort of cupid !! She was standing in front of a cupid painting, where she fell in love with that other guy that she was supposed to make fall in love with that one girl that entered the elevator, but she caught feelings. That woukd explain why she wasn't able to see herself in the mirror, as for newjeans laybe they're some sort of fairies witnessing that story unfold. In the side B, I think that old man's someone she knows, maybe her father I don't know, but he made the person she fell in love with fall in love with that one other girl on the cross walk, prolly why Hoyein was so devastated. And after all that, we go back to the cupid painting for get up where Hoyeon watches Newjeans perform !!

Basically the girl is black at the start is cupid. She matched the couple in the lift together and when she saw the black guy she fell in love with him. She is also invisible so he couldn't see her which was why she had no reflection. However when her and theguy get in the lift, she refuses to match him with someone because she wants to be with him. Later in the rain scene she sheds her powers and becomes visible which is why she can feel the rain. Then in side B they can date cos he sees her. However shes not meant to reveal herself to humans so the guy behind her boyfriend at the crossing fixes her mistake and matches him with another girl.

The girl is HOYEON, from the squid game series. The story is based on the mythological story of Cupid and psyche. Hoyeon is Cupid and she can make people fall in love but can’t fall in love herself as people can’t see her. New jeans are her guardian angels.. cupids job is making ppl around her fall in love but she comes across psyche and falls for him. forbidden love basically. the scene when she shreds her clothes is basically her shredding the cupid title and becoming human so she can be with him . However VENUS, (Tony Leung) finds out and turns her back into cupid making her partner forget about her and not being able to see her. to punish her for falling for a human he basically makes psyche fall for a different human girl. in the original story cupid is a guy and psyche is a girl but they switched the roles for this. ppl are also speculating that new jeans play the muses in greek mythology who tell the stories. i personally think new jeans are the ones that snitched on her to venus cuz they’re the only ones that are constantly watching her throughout the videos . ❤👏👏

My interpretation is..I think Hoyeon fell in love with a normal human being, but she’s not. So she decided to become one in order to experience Love. But ‘her papa’ showed up to remind her that she is still not a normal human being, cuz only she can see him and no else can (when people were crossing the street). When you asked if it was a Chinese release, I remember it being strange that there were Chinese subtitles first than English. Because NewJeans are all English speakers, you'd assume it'd be there first, but no! It kinda foreshadowed Tony Leung's appearance because I too thought it was strange it came out first and not auto-generated. And then he came out into the MV and it just clicked with me months later.
