a little tip for your scout in the beginning : if you want to save time, select the scout, hold shift and press right click on a location you want to go to. if you do it like that a tiny flag appears that marks a point were you're scout will go to if you release shift and press right click again. you can place multiple flags and your scout will ride from flag to flag. so you can tell him to scout around your base in a circle for example. this way you don't have to control your scout the whole time while he's scouting
I am impressed with your ability to explain things to newer people! Great job! I would say you are the best at explaining this game to newer players that I have seen.
***** Paul told the Phillipean Jailer that to be saved he must believe on the Lord Jesus. That is not out of context. As a matter of fact if you look through the whole Bible you will see again and again the call to repent and believe on Jesus Christ and be saved. This is then for you to do omalginu. You must do this because without Christ you are headed for a place called Hell because you have broken God's Law the 10 Commandments. But God offers you salvation today, for only today right now is guaranteed. Because Jesus died on the cross 2,000 years ago being both God and man and when He died He took the wrath of God upon Himself and died so that all who would believe in Him would be saved. He rose 3 days later from the dead and ascended into Heaven where He sits down at the right hand of the Father. Right now He commands you to repent and believe alone in Jesus Christ and your sins shall be forgiven.
***** You miss applied that text. That is for praying and not being a hypocrite. But you forgot about Mark 16:15 "Go out into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation." That is what I am doing. I am sharing the Gospel with you so that you may come to know Christ as your Savior and thus repent and believe and be forever justified in Him!
These are my favourite verses! Revelations 14:8 Ephesians 5:22 1 Timothy 2:12 1 Samuel 15:3 Exodus 22:18 Psalm 137:9 and the story of Sodom and Gomorrah!
If theres one tip i could give to a new player looking to improve their game- its learn the hot keys for TC, CREATE VILLAGER and IDLE VILLAGER. And just pretty much spam them constantly throughout the game. Once you get into this habit it will become second nature, allowing you to think more about your strategy
Thanks for the clear instructions. I've always enjoyed watching rts games but was too intimidated to play one since they look so complex. I actually bought the Age of Empires Collectors Edition years ago, played it once, got killed quickly and never picked it up again because I couldn't understand it. This should help me try it again, which I really want to. Thanks.
The hot key for "idle villager" is the ".", period. Use it. Lumberjacks are lazy and they do wander away! Keep those serfs busy as hell, never stand idle!! The comma key "," is used to find an idle military unit. The "home key" will bring you to the last trumpet location
The Home Key is usually on the top of the keyboard, to the right of the F1-F12, PrtSc, Pause, Ins, and Del keys. You may need to double check though because I've seen a few keyboards that have it on the very bottom of the keyboard, some in a 3x2 section on the keyboard (common business type keyboards), and some just don't have em at all.
Another thing worth mentioning is that if you're using a mouse with more than 3 buttons, one of those extra buttons will cycle you through idle villages and another will cycle you through all the TCs. It's very useful if you have a mouse with 5 buttons or more.
Also important to mention that all hotkeys can be reassigned. The last notification (trumpet) key is pretty important and I don't think it should stay on a strange button like "home". Being more of a starcraft player I prefer the space bar.
I am so glad to hear that this video helped you! You can expect some videos from me in the near future that explain how I defeat the Hardest difficulty computer. :)
I always was the singleplayer turtle tactic guy. Build my economy, a large base and a large army and win the game. For a few days now I'm following some aoe2 1v2 matches and I felt the itch to play again but different. Your videos help me alot. And as a + its kinda relaxing listening to your video =D keep up the good work
Resonance, we would certainly love a video on the updated Steam hotkeys and general advanced tips not so focused on economy. Such as shift que'ing, using ctrl groups, and anything you generally use throughout your games that a lower level player might not.
I love playing this HD version of AoE II rather than the Definitive one. I love the music and some extra effects in HD which I missed in the original version.
I recently restarted playing this game that I used to play 20 years ago. I wish I’d known some of these basic things back then - Thanks! One thing I did understand the relevance or importance of from this video is trade carts. Why are they so important and what benefits do they give you? Surely if you trade resources with your ally you have to give other resources back in return?
Jesus man, i've played this game back then, but i could NEVER develop the speed to do things. I like to stay "build-shy" ! 5 guys to food, 5 to wood, 5 to gold and then armies lol
funny how he did an incredibly slow and bad start while he was explaining and still kicked the computers butts and then there is that ridiculous leap to moderate where somewhat good players might still be devastated even with a perfect start
I Bought this Game about 6 Years ago, I also got Killed very Quickly. I have now re-installed this Game and with your Help , I Hope to be a better Player Cheers Alex Mc
Great ability to explain things. Recently rebought this and am getting into it. For a game with such vast possibilities, I figured I'd check out youtube. Glad i found your channel!
This is such a multitasking game. I get anxiety whenever I get attcked from 2 different sides while having my villagers do work/build houses/get food/get wood/make army x_x
Madison Sutcliff haha I played the game mode in aoe 2 where you start with like 50K of each resource. So I didn't see a reason to get any villages. But then after I built your army and they all died. I had no more resources and the gameplay became really slow because I had to farm up.
Haha yeah i always played that mode.. Is it called deathmatch? It was the most fun for me lol have you ever played age of mythology? Its really awesome too
One thing which I've noticed about RTS games is multiplayer is extremely hard compared to CPUs, I'd totally suggest after understanding the game just watch pros for ages and understand how to be efficient. I'm still a noob but I can still hold myself in newbie games heh!
Yes. I finally defeated a moderate AI. But I'm really really slow at doing stuff and I often forget things. I hope I'll improve enough to beat a hard AI. Thanks for the video.
The earlier the better, but don't let it become a huge strain on your economy. Try to gradually make more of them as you start to run out of gold mines, and the villagers that were mining gold should either be deleted (making population room for more trade carts) or set to gather another resource of your need. :)
I must be super slow because I only use the mouse when it comes to doing anything in aoe2. Like, the hotkeys are a bit confusing which is why I don't use it, it's much different than other RTS games regarding hotkeys I feel. I know I can change them but I feel like if I re-hotkey I will lose a hotkey for something else, which will be way too confusing for me to look through. The scouting in this game is much too intimidating for new players, you could spend the first thirty seconds looking for sheep and I have no clue what I'm supposed to do haha. I even had some guides to help me, and when it comes to things like luring boars or wolves they kill villagers very quickly. I'm glad I found this video in time since I was about to quit. I was actually so bad at the game people started kicking me from lobbies lol.
Great video, thanks for uploading! I've been playing AoE 2 HD and I have a question for any experienced player: When playing AoE 3 I'm able to give consecutive commands to units by holding down Shift and then issuing the commands. In AoE 2 HD that same technique doesn't work. I noticed it does work to place the foundation for consecutive buildings however. Is there a way to give consecutive commands to units? Thanks!
i remember in Aoe I i needed to build more house to create more units and i thought any building would do the trick so I built a Wonder .... I was like ''wtf i have a Wonder why cant i create more? '' lol
In a standard build, what villager composition would you reccomend through the ages for wood/food/gold ? Also, can you explain when to collect stone and how much?
If doing like an ideal castle rush, i usually just recruit 2-3 villagers to build feudal age buildings, then i transition them to stone. After that, i advance to castle and play on. In the dark age, i make around 28-35 villagers for fast castle. I have like 12 on boar and sheep, then i transition them to farms when done (like 3, but the rest on wood), 5 on forage, 5 on deer, and sometimes a couple fishing ships if on a water map. I also have 2 gold miners at the end of the dark age. For feudal rushing (same order i do except down to 22-24 villagers before feudal), i usually play mayans or sometimes even byzantines, for a cheap trash rush. Just put most on food at first for dark age, transition some to wood, then at feudal, make stone and builders (But really it depends on your strategy, your civilization, and your map). Since i usually feudal rush, i will create an army of ~ 5 skirmishers, 5 archers, and 5 spearmen; meanwhile ill just keep improving my economy, mostly for stone and gold but some for food and wood. Meanwhile again, ill rush that trash army to my enemy and harass their economy or at least try to, then ill build up another 5 skirm - 5 archer - 5 spearmen setup. I can also upgrade to castle age at some point. Ultimately, to conclude your questions, it really depends on your civilization, your strategy, and your map. What civ do you play a lot? And what is your most used strategy? Im assuming fast castle? If thats the case, like i said, i would just build up a couple villagers to build feudal buildings, then when they're done, transition them to stone and go up to castle age as soon as your done. When at castle, just keep improving your economy and whatnot, and its also ideal to set up a cheap army for a rush or for protection.
Thinking that the recording mode doesn't effect performance displays that you lack a fundamental understanding of how exactly a computer works and what performance is.
Resonance22Channel Actually I believe that both Britons and Japanese are good civs to use for newer players, since the Japanese have an increase to their work rate, their unique unit has a strong bonus on other unique units, their fish'n'ships can hold out under attack longer, even the infantry's attack speed is increased. Then again, having the mills and camps costing less might not be that great to learn from.
Gattaca Sorta. You want to have half of the max population in villagers. For example: Resonance set the max to 200 pop in this game. He wants to shoot for around 100 villagers. This way, he will have an unbeatable economy. In any game, you always want to go for half, whether the max is 200, 500, etc. Hope this helped.
Eclapsed Looking at your comments that say "BUY THE HD GAME SCRUB!" All I can say is, there is no emoticon that would display my disappointment. Also, there's GameRanger. You *_DON'T_* really have to buy the HD version, if you have the memory space, go get GameRanger, its free, its downloadable, (requires a few patches, depending which game you got) and there's a lot of people using it. Oh yeah, and theres about *_723_* games supported by GameRanger, including *ALL* of the Age of Empires.
I don't understand how Resonance and other good players are using groups and hotkeys and moving their military. I have watched Viper and Resonance videos and tried to figure it out watching the mouse movements, but I still couldn't figure it out. Anyone know? BUILDING PRODUCTION: In the video he mentioned that he was adding castles to group 2. Is that so he can quickly move the gather point for all of his castles? When he wants to create move military units, does he type control+b, then the hotkey for the unit he wants to produce, then control+b then unit hotkey, etc for each building? Or does he press control+b then click on each building with his mouse and press the hotkey for the unit he wants to produce? Or does he press 2 twice to jump to where his castles are (but then he cannot use hotkeys to que units, so he must then manually click on each castle then press the unit hotkey to build?) UNIT CONTROL: how do the pros make their armies move so orderly? My armies just run off in all different directions instantly unless I manually put them into stand ground (is there a way to set army stance to defensive as the default stance instead of aggressive?) Is he constantly spam clicking the attack move hotkey behind the units he wants to attack? I cant figure out how to actually control my units the way the good players do. I'm looking for as detailed help about specifics as possible, anyone know?
a little tip for your scout in the beginning : if you want to save time, select the scout, hold shift and press right click on a location you want to go to. if you do it like that a tiny flag appears that marks a point were you're scout will go to if you release shift and press right click again. you can place multiple flags and your scout will ride from flag to flag. so you can tell him to scout around your base in a circle for example.

A tip to take waaaaaaaaaaaaaay less time: force yourself to let your town centre be active at all times. Strife to have 3 towncentres when possible.
mass produce villagers always friend. More villagers=happy economy
I played on standart and got rekt

Man you're quick.
Yep. Studying the hot keys is like studying for a high school exam
Swaggerlin haha! If you take it that seriously then you deserve to be a top player.
Tim4196 I do take it that seriously but my strategy is shit.

Try Civilization, it's like aoe but turn based
I've been having the same for years! How do you get out of it it's so painful haha! It's good for Simcity and such though but really not in RTS.
@@Alec0 i hate turn based.

Watching this video while playing on the Xbox one. I used this video years ago on my old PC too kinda cool.
This is such a multitasking game. I get anxiety whenever I get attcked from 2 different sides while having my villagers do work/build houses/get food/get wood/make army x_x
I can never be as organized as this guy is.
lol I remember playing his when I was little (even before I barely knew any English) and I used to not make more then 4 villages xD)
Yeah me too I played aoe 1 though XD I loved calvary units alot though so I just had whole armies of like 59 calvary and no infantry lol
Madison Sutcliff haha I played the game mode in aoe 2 where you start with like 50K of each resource. So I didn't see a reason to get any villages. But then after I built your army and they all died. I had no more resources and the gameplay became really slow because I had to farm up.

The earlier the better, but don't let it become a huge strain on your economy. Try to gradually make more of them as you start to run out of gold mines, and the villagers that were mining gold should either be deleted (making population room for more trade carts) or set to gather another resource of your need. :)
Amazing video dude!
The first half was useful, the second half got too fast to follow and not enough was explained.
I've watched this video for 14 minutes now and have no idea whats going on, im probably autistic

The only thing which is different from PVP version is that you didn't even get attacked at 20 min, when usually it's the time I being ruined :P
i have played this game for 30 hours and still loses to standart, hopefully i understand just a little bit more after this video
i play since aoe2 didnt existed yet, but here I am because I never played this well in MP.
I think the reason I lose a lot is because I'm OCD and I take more time than necessary trying to find a spot to place a building.
You should try to beat Forgotten Empires AIs which are way more harder.
I'm glad somebody's mic is almost as bad as mine.
Hey man when are you going to upload Starbound video!?

You forgot to explain the Victory mode: conquest
In a standard build, what villager composition would you reccomend through the ages for wood/food/gold ?

Just put most on food at first for dark age, transition some to wood, then at feudal, make stone and builders (But really it depends on your strategy, your civilization, and your map). When at castle, just keep improving your economy and whatnot, and its also ideal to set up a cheap army for a rush or for protection.
Thinking that the recording mode doesn't effect performance displays that you lack a fundamental understanding of how exactly a computer works and what performance is.

hey which mod were young using for the beach ??? It looks amazing
Great vid! But how do you know, how many villagers you already have?
Cause you keep saying "I need more villies.."
Is there a sort of a counter?
+Ben Wade Top left there are 5 resource boxes the last one is your population expressed as ?/? How many you have vs how many you can build....

I dont know when tame passes when i play AOE 2>*I love AOE*

Does it matter where you place houses and barracks? It looks like you just randomly placed them so I’m wondering if placement has any importance.

Or does he press 2 twice to jump to where his castles are (but then he cannot use hotkeys to que units, so he must then manually click on each castle then press the unit hotkey to build?)
UNIT CONTROL: how do the pros make their armies move so orderly? My armies just run off in all different directions instantly unless I manually put them into stand ground (is there a way to set army stance to defensive as the default stance instead of aggressive?) Is he constantly spam clicking the attack move hotkey behind the units he wants to attack? I cant figure out how to actually control my units the way the good players do. I'm looking for as detailed help about specifics as possible, anyone know?

Hey. How do I get this game to play it? Also, I need a screen recorder like you do. How can I get one? Thanks.
I'm doing the part where I am learning how to play the game and for some reason I can not build the dock like it wants me to!
