- In recent years, a trend known as NFTs, or non-fungible tokens have taken the art scene by storm. The market has seen explosive growth in 2021 with celebrities like Tom Brady, Snoop Dogg and Grimes jumping into the market. In October, Sotheby’s and Coinbase also announced their intentions in launching their own NFT specific marketplaces. But NFT’s astonishing success has also led to deep skepticism. So just how do non-fungible tokens work and is it an asset worth investing in?

So this is how rich people evade taxes and do money laundering
Facts.
NFT is a scam as proven by CoffeeZilla NFT OpenSea report. It's all a pump and dump scheme, money fraudsters selling digital pokemon cards basically is all it is.
Opensea scam Coffeezilla made a video on it proving insider traders started it all.
That video is all you need to watch to prove it, grow up people. NFT 100% scam, for sure.
@@Karoleishh lol 😂
Money laundering... With a completely traceable asset. -_-
@@dertythegrower Coffe showed that an employee at OpenSea knew what NFTs would be listed, and purchased them beforehand. NFTs themselves were not "started by insider traders" This was simply a case where an employee of a company that only runs the frontend for a marketplace knew what would be shown.

This could be true be everyone who watches this won’t get in and you will always have skeptics. It’s still very early for web 3 NFT and the meta verse. See everyone on the other side
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Hell no.
Short Answer: Maybe
Long Answer: It really depends on the use case. Because art NFTs are only a minute fraction for its usage. NFTs being legal documents, copyright, patents, and other management documents have an incredibly huge upside that has not really even been explored yet. For example not really anyone thought the web would be like it is today
@@tycooperaow What's the upside for an NFT deed or copyright over the original system? If I steal the NFT deed to your house does that mean I own it now?
@@TheSpartan3669 No because you can encode the nft to always refer to the original owner. Even if that owner doesn’t have that NFT in their wallet, the metadata will be apparent to who really owns it. And stealing an NFT is incredibly difficult unless you scam the owner. As education increases around NFTs, that’ll happen less. it’s like keeping your SSN and password protected.
@@tycooperaow So what if you lose the NFT? How do you get your deed back?

Investing in the stock market is the best option to make a passive income.
Virtually all the markets are crazy, most people pay more attention to the shiniest position on the graph, I’m keeping a diversified portfolio.
The decision to invest is an acknowledgement that it comes with certain risks. Not all investments will do well and some may lose money. However, without risk, there would be no opportunity to potentially earn the higher returns that can help you grow your wealth.
Remember, diversification is an approach to help manage investment risk. It does not eliminate the risk of loss if security prices decline. Because investing can be complicated, consider working with a financial professional to help guide you on your wealth-building journey.
who would you endorse ? I've been in the shadows for too long

@somni if you go stand in front of someones house and take a selfie do you own that house?
@somni I mean, everyone has made this point, and most NFT fanatics havent been able to dispute it out right
I’ve been a humble art collector for years and could never imagine purchasing digital art. If I buy an oil or acrylic painting and you want to throw in a NFT, sure. But buying strictly digit I just can’t wrap my head around “owning” something that possibly 6 billion people could have as their screen saver. I get it if you are just playing the market for straight cash. But for only collecting art it is a hard pass for me….
people said the same thing about bitcoin
@@alasmario44 for sure. And I can see NFTs staying around long term. I like the blockchain aspect. For example if I buy a painting I get a blockchain stating I am the owner of this painting. My only issue is strictly the digital art aspect. I couldnt buy a piece of art for massive cash when the next person can just right click and save image as. I definitely see the money game in it. Have a good one.
Either way you can hired someone to paint the Mona Lisa but it won’t be the original, or you can take a picture, print it and hang on the wall and still it’s not the original.
@@arnoldmvijil182 well NFTs are typically 1 of 1. So if I owned the Mona Lisa “painting” the original would be on my wall. If you owned the Mona Lisa as an “NFT” the same digital image would be available online but with a block chain stating you are the owner. Anyone could attain the exact same image you own. To repaint the Mona Lisa would take extreme effort/resources and would not be an exact replica and would easily be distinguishable as a fraud. Obviously you having the block chain would easily tie you as the true owner to the NFT but the actual replication of the art would be simple and millions of people would have the same image as you as the owner. So from strictly an art perspective I prefer the physical interpretation. But I get the NFT perspective. Sorry for the rant…
@@adervishagentred yes it will be with a block chain, letting you know, you are the owner. If someone want to buy it from you, then you give them the rights of that nft, letting the buyer know it’s legit and not a screenshot. There is many artists in the world that do logos , designs and stuff and they start (I believe) doing it digital, so the block chain help them so no one will steal his piece of art. Well as you be the owner you can create a brand or something with that “legit “ piece of art, logo etc because you have the rights of it.

Lol does anyone realize that changing a single pixel in an nft image changes the hash identifier. Thereby changing a single pixel means it is technically a "new" nft even though the pictures are practically identical
doesn't change the fact that the "new" once isn't the original that its derived from and can easily be identified in the blockchain.
Just change one of the RGB subpixel values by one. Invisible to the human eye, different hash.
@@Steamrick it still doesn't change the blockchain. Thats the point. No NFT collector who values the authenticity, will just look at the image and say "looks good to me", no they comb through the blockchain to make sure the source is from the original artist. 100$ ? Dude 100$ is only gas fees
Keep laughing, the idea behind NFT’s is buying collectibles that hold real value. 95% of NFT projects are worthless imo BUT if you do find the right collectibles you can be looking at REAL VALUE
I've yet to see some nft that's worth paying for
@@blackpearl7596 the NFT i own is mickey mouse from the steamboat collection. It holds real value because it was the first time mickey appeared and the NFT itself is licensed by Disney. Since the time of purchase the NFT has gone up to be worth 1,500% of what I originally paid for. I know Disney collectors in the future will want to snag one at fat prices.
Thing is: Real art often survives hundreds and thousands of years and people can still enjoy this art. With the change in innovation and maybe one day every IT system will break down, those digital art assets won’t be able to be read anymore. Like today hardly anyone can read floppy disks anymore there might be a time when NFTs are just lost while the Mona Lisa painting still exists.
Seriously, this is similar to why I prefer physical dvds to streaming. When you can’t access the internet or even an offline device, where’s your art now? It makes no sense why so many people are falling for this. Contrarianism is running rampant these days, people think they know things the rest of us don’t and they are above us for it.
You have no idea how many other "Mona Lisa's" existed before being lost in floods, wars, fires, or just disintegrate over time...
At least there's a record of ownership... Forever.
There's also no "upkeep" on digital houses. Boats are 10% houses are 3% and cash you own Is burning a giant hole in your pocket.
Gold is not passive. Digital gold is.
If you have an open mind now you might still have time to get in 😜
@@joshuathompson4471 That’s part of the price though, the fact real art is actually a tangible item that can be lost or destroyed and literally only 1 exists.
This is about as asinine as buying toast with a perceived image of jesus on it on ebay.

I think most people don't understand that NFTs aren't just pictures. There are projects like Opul or Lofty that shown what NFTs are about.
“Invest?” Don’t be delusional. It’s speculation only.
NFTs and cryptos remind me the video game "super Mario" - collect thousands of gold coins throughout the game but in the end it's just a game.
As a way to give a gift to your favorite artist, I'm a fan of NFTs. But part of the bubble is basic lack of understanding of what an NFT is. When you buy an NFT you do not gain *any* right to the artwork. Even in this video I heard the phrase "own the art". The art is not yours; just the NFT number. You don't even have to right to view the art (though generally artists don't pull copyright games like that.) Artists can also sell NFTs for the same art via multiple different auction houses. (Though that might violate auction house rules.) So, scarcity is not guaranteed. Again, no big deal if you are sending free tip money to your favorite artist.
None of them are the same all unique in their own way, read a lil more old man
@@sumer123987 The NFTs are unique? Yes. You get a unique number (key) that cannot ever be stolen due to cryptography. But you don't own the art that the NFT points to. You only own the number. That is the part folks are not getting. A physical equivalent would be if you looked at a painting "Be Nice To The Big Blue Sea" by Cecily Brown and liked it; so you pay Cecily Brown to hand-write you a signed letter saying "glad you liked painting Be Nice To The Big Blue Sea." That letter is absolutely and uniquely yours. It might even have some value. But you don't own the painting. Not even a little. That is the part people are not fully understanding.

I remember when money laundering used to be hard
Most people are only in NFTs just for the money including me. But what if you can tokenize real-land and real estate? Ekta makes that possible.
Imagine paying top dollar that you had to convert into internet money in order to buy a link to a .jpg or .png image through the blockchain when you could just right click and save image for free.
Imagine.
Next. It's Hologram NFTs of princess Leia on your livingroom table. 😎
You have to trust if the server stays active. Just imagine buying an NFT then one day getting a 404 error and realizing that you wasted your thousands of dollars.
Most NFT images are hosted on IPFS which is a decentralized database. The chances those images will go down are incredibly slim
Not only that but what do you actually own. Not much really…
@J William Collier and an art museum can catch on fire. Whats your point?
@J William Collier what are you 12? Come back with an intelligent counter point.
@J William Collier If (that's a BIG IF) the server crashe , you still own the NFT on the blockchain. That's the whole point of these NFTs. You haven't lost anything
Depends on who you are. If you're the one launching or promoting the project, the yes. If you're buying one, no.
But this shows how even people of influence can be influenced to move in a wave than to think on their own, they're buying something that they don't own
You always buy something "you dont own".
Pump and Dump my friend lol trust influencers aren’t hoppin in a “wave” to lose their money
I doubted Bitcoin when it first came out but after researching it, I was able to understand the justification for its value case and that it wasn't a total scam. However, with NFTs, the concept of a digital asset makes sense, but It's really difficult to justify why some of it has any value at all just because it's an NFT. Maybe if it was a NFT of a recognized piece of art, but the NFT's that are basically simple JPEG files that non artists can make in 10 minutes are hard to swallow.

Don't buy expecting to make profit over it, the concept of buying an "art" just for being unique or for the price doesn't mean you're a gonna make it money over it, ever. If something useless and it's in scarcity like a non fungible, they're just gonna search for another one.
NFT are beanie baby’s for Gen Z
Yeah. At least Beanie Babies are actually things you can physically hold and cannot be replicated by right clicking on them.
The only art in NFTs seems to be the scam behind it.
New form of money laundering.
Utility, utility, and utility!
Nothing wrong with owning digital assets or tokens with actual rights to a physical artwork (not sure if that even is the case). If you own NFT to something you like, I get it. But do you really want to own stuff you don't care to own just because its an NFT? What if no one wants to buy that NFT from you?
The part about buying NFTs because you want to support the artist, or want to have the art in your collection is exactly why most people buy NFTs in the first place. Not to profit or money launder (c'mon, money laundering with a trackable asset? -_-)
This sounds like CNBC holds no NFTs
i cant wait for humanity to fade into oblivion
I would love to invest in NFTs, but my money is all tied up in beanie babys
If in the future people will be forced to live 100% digitally, then I guess NFT art is a thing that can make money.
Is there a lot of hype in NFTs? Yes. Do they also support digital artists in a brand new way? Also yes.
do most artists actually lose money on NFTs? Also yes.
@@studioromanski how do they lose money from it enlighten me
I pray someone buys my NFT… I listed since last year and no sales😞
