- The Anti-Aquatic Species ramp up skill is a big attack boost (not sure how much exactly, 10%?) that should make Zinogre SA the best one for Mizu. Ok for real, done with this guy, probably ;). Will start doing more TA style kills and less captures too

Love the commentary. It can be hard to watch TA runs and actually learn anything from them so listening to someone's step by step can be really helpful!

Yeah!! Thanks for the tip! With latent power activating at the end and an affinity buff (from palamute?) I was able to get to 100% affinity in amped state for some serious mega damage 😮
@@caolanberg3837 Affinity buff was from Palico, it's the 1rst skill of assist palicos, that gives 30% crit and earplugs for 2 minutes

I didn’t even know until yesterday about this, I thought the augments were just little buffs but this is really strong! Gonna have to pay more attention to those ramp up skills, I wonder if there are other really good ones
@@caolanberg3837 There's one for dual blades that ensures critical hits 100% of the time while in demon mode, a lot of them are really interesting

@@caolanberg3837 Another interesting thing about Rampage Skills is the "Inheritance" system. In practice, you can use a skill from a previous branch on a weapon. For example you can have Rathian SA with "Silkbind Boost" from the Ore tree. I think it could become an interesting mechanic in the future.
@@Benjiboi I really need to sit down as look at all those skills. Unfortunately a lot of the Switch axes are so terrible right now no skill could make them worth using. Hopefully there are more good ones in the future and some of the Switch Axe trees are more complete

I didn’t know either. Was using a different SA when Deaga told me so I had to try it! It’s about 10% more damage , which is pretty huge. And not anymore 😛😆

if you're willing to give up gambit, you can do a point-blank discharge into a soaring wyvern blade thrust, it cancels the recovery of the full latched discharge and does an entire metric fuckass of damage. Highly recommended with element phial which does crazy damage with discharge ticks.
Yeah I know of that strategy, I’ll definitely be using it in some runs! Zinogre SA has a huge damage boost from its ramp up skill and Mizu doesn’t take a ton of elemental damage (15 to head, 10 when not enraged) so it’ll outdamage any elemental phial SA in this fight. But in general, soaring wyvern seems a lot better than gambit for the reason you just said ☺️

Awesome to see some Switch Axe runs from you, and does anyone else find it ironic that the Zinogre Switch Axe is so perfectly designed to beat up on Mizutsune?
I didn’t even know about the ramp up skill at first and was already considering it, that just put it way above everything else! Should be great for some Somnacanth murder too!

I honestly don’t know, zsd just seems better. CFD has too much end lag. I would rather just invest in rapid morph level 3 for damage with morph attacks. Zsd combos into soaring wyvern blade and just seems better overall

Cool run! Have you tried the Rajang SA with Dulling Strike and Bludgeoner 3? It's not the highest damage, but it is probably the SA that allows for the most comfort with earplugs 2 and evade extender 3 and evade window 3 or 4.
I didn’t try that one yet. That’s a lot of comfort! I haven’t been using any evasion skills yet, but maybe in a future update when things get a bit harder I’ll look into making this SA. I used extender a lot in Iceborne for the endgame stuff and it helped out
what is your bread and butter combo. i normally have trouble trying to get to axe to sword because the only quick way i know is pressing ZR after the heavy slam which takes a while
? try rapid morph 3 if you run without morph3 ur basically a NON MHRISE SA meaning you have to rely on oldschool combos probably X into ZR to swap the fastest while A X ZR for a more dps one

Thanks bro! SA is very strong when the monster let’s you spam your strongest combo for half the fight 😁🤣. Wish I was good at fighting other monsters with it need lots of practice!

Great run! I was wondering why you replaced SWB with Invincible Gambit. Is it just a preference thing or IG skill is more viable for monsters who roar a lot? 🤷♂️ Thank you 😊
If you plan on doing lots of ZSD, then SWB is definitely better. I like IG for the roars and also I find it a lot easier to hit Mizu’s head with it than SWB. The goal for the fight was to keep him staggered/toppled as much as possible, and one miss could ruin the fight. Gambit can also be nice if you’re in a bad position you can just hyperarmor through his attacks because he doesn’t hit that hard. I think SWB is better for most monsters though
@@caolanberg3837 thank you for the input. Been having a hard time fighting more agile monsters who like to run around like zinogre and barioth lately. I'll try to play between IG and SWB to check which one is more comfy for me on certain matchups. Again, thank you 🙏❤️
@@ninonggaming911 Barioth is rough, was trying him today but have nothing good to show for it. I think exhaust Switch Axe would be very good for him, a lot of ppl are using conqueress. I haven’t made it yet but the exhaust and 1, maybe even 2 KO’s should help alot to get some hits in

What camera style do you use?
I think whatever the default is and target cam because focus camera sucks. I know a lot of people like fast or very fast camera but I don’t
i always found hunter gambit to be super trash vs the other move that let you amped discharge into divebomb and repeat but ur combo with hunter gambit i was truly unaware of it ill try to put it in my playstyle ty
I think Soaring Wyvern Blade is a lot better for most fights. If you’re gonna use ZSD at all it’s better. I thought it would be easier to lock him down with regular attacks and gambit here but I don’t usually use gambit
@@caolanberg3837 yeah if you dont use soaring zsd is super super awful without soaring you have no combo and log of cooldown from zsd

Dooo it! Lots of people I know have moved to Switch Axe. Some of the weapons are a bit too gimmicky in Rise for my liking for Switch Axe feels great to play ☺️
I once saw this vid on reddit where this guy did a silk bug switch axe move and dived straight at a zinogre tail and from one of the mountains in the shrine ruins and that was the final blow. My main goal Is to try do that.

okay so Ihave no idea how I missed this, but mizu hammer is far better then narga hammer when when you add sharp+
i can get sharp2 attack 6, with a tender 2 - - -
mizu is slightly less affinity, for more raw and the same amount of white if you have sharp +2
I’m dumb I didn’t realize it got to white lol!! That’s very promising! I think Narga is still great for earplugs build and consistency with the crits, it seems worth having lvl 2 earplugs for some monsters with how strong impact crater is. But yeah that is really strong! I just assumed it didn’t get to white cause no one is talking about it
@@caolanberg3837 no one seems to talk about any weapon that isn't narga or that one para hammer, not alot of people talk about the atlas one either, even though it's better for longer hunts
I think the reason why mizu hammer is so unseen is because all of his other weapons are at the 180-190 damage range, while the hammer has 200 for some reason.
for most of the other weapons because the damage is at 180-190 it's all the other options are just much better then mizu.
as well as it gets a slight amount of element on it which doesn't do much (like 4 damage on a 20 water hitzone).
from my testing it's worth running water attack +1 ad this can gives you 1 more water damage, but you need it at level 4 to get another, just because of mh always rounding stuff down
We gotta start using Mizu in runs more so that it actually gets noticed and used more
and ya narga is definitely a more reliable and flexible hammer, as you can get more things instead of sharp+2
also every zinogre weapon gets "anti-aquatic species" which is a fun thing capcom did for us I'd say
@@DESMal I really want to try Mizu hammer now! I didn’t get to play much this week sadly 😔. It is definitely really great for freestyle runs with the extra affinity from palico, fish, cutterfly, etc that I’m sure of. Been hunting with my pets cause it’s fun to get those 1k damage wake up hits 😁
@@DESMal Yes the Zinogre weapons are great for a few monsters. Maybe the only great ramp up skill for hammer but definitely worth it
Never played SA before, is the Overhead Slam not worth doing for the buff that it gives?
Not really. It’s 25% increase to amped but you would get about that from just attacking with sword mode during that time and get more damage. Kinda sad, I’m still hoping they will buff it at some point
what ur feeing on raw vs elemental so far the only raw i found worth using was like magna and ibushi SA rest felt really mediocre
Elemental seems better, the Barioth one has some pretty crazy stats, and a lot of people are using diablos and Conqueress for the exhaust/ko’s. Raw power phial doesn’t seem good
Zinogre's ramp up makes sense considering on mhp3rd Zinogre and Mizutsune are arch nemesis

What's your opnion on power phials in this game? I personally can't fucking stand how long they take to charge amped mode. I really don't enjoy using them at all.
Tbh I’ve mostly been playing hammer. But from what I’ve seen, elemental (Barioth mostly) and exhaust (Conqueress) are a lot better for most matchups, especially if you plan on using ZSD at all, ZSD into SWB is very strong. I wouldn’t recommend power phial outside of a few specific fights like this one, where the 10% damage boost from anti aquatic skill really helps out. Power phial just doesn’t seem very good right now
@@caolanberg3837 Yeah, I've mostly been playing Hunting Horn and Bow myself, but Switch Axe is still in my Top 5. Not really my main anymore like it was in past games.
Elemental Switch Axe is what I've been using for the most part, I'm really glad it's worth using finally. One of the things i've always wanted. Didn't know about Exhaust though, I'll have to try that.
@@Revhie Yeah the Barioth one is crazy strong. There’s a sub 3 Magnamalo run with Conqueress (exhaust) so it is definitely really strong in the right hands. The stamina drain realllly slows some monsters down alot

20% from latent power, mostly just at the end of the fight and 30 % from palico crit up skill. He doesn’t always use it but nice when he does
