I felt like the entire interview, Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart were watching how Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy acting and they had this in their mind, "Ah, these kids are cute."
Num Rokz I think it comes with the contract of being casted as Prof. X and Magneto. Seriously though, the casting department of X-Men franchise did a wonderful job in choosing the actors to portray this particular characters.
Num Rokz James and Michael actually knew each other beforehand, and Michael was specifically casted to be Magneto, because he had great chemistry with James.

They were both in Band of Brothers but didn’t have any scenes together, and James said he didn’t even know Michael wasn’t American until many years later because he kept the accent between scenes- that doesn’t sound to me like they were close. And, actually I many people were auditioned for Magneto, to the point of James getting annoyed at having to read with such an enormous number of actors, but the filmmakers knew the chemistry between Charles and Eric was so important. And when Michael read, well it’s obvious. So, Fassbender wasn’t specifically cast because he knew McAvoy, he was cast because he was the best at the part. But, I’m glad he was cast, they made me love these movies. And in real life, their friendship is even more adorable than in the movies
I feel like McKellen did make a comment about Shame either on the Graham Norton show or in another interview...something about him being very impressed, and happy that Michael has been cast to play a younger version of himself ??? But I’m not sure

I loved the interviewer here, she was so graceful and smooth. The part where Ian compliments Michael's confidence in the "flick guards" scene was nice too - that scene always stood out to me in the trailer, and I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't the only one that picked up on it.
So 1:36 made my day..James' face when he shook his head was so funny! I love seeing these 4 together! All of them are such a delight. and I loved James' ending of "that's what it's like being Patrick Stewart!" They all seem to really enjoy their craft and one another's company. Thanks for posting!

Yeah, I think there's an extended version :)
Some trailers are released before editing of the movie is completed. So sometimes clips in the early trailers don’t end up in the final film.
