They drastically changed Storms back story, cause she was never a street rat in Cairo , she was a part of an African tribe, and when she got her powers she became the leader and was seen as a goddess. So the only thing the movie got right was when Apocalypse says "Your a Goddess". I understand that they need to link the story somehow, but storm was not a good way of doing it, as it completely changes her back story.
You do have to remember that a lot of characters have multiple origin stories. I for example know the story of Xavier meeting Storm in Cairo after she tried to pickpocket him so from that one alone her origin in Apocalypse is not entirely wrong.
Wade Morales I see where your coming from, but wasn't Xavier also one of the 4 horsemen? I always thought it was; Magneto, Xavier, Storm and Mystique. But there was another variation where Angel was made into one of the 4 horsemen. But as James said, they don't want to do what has already been done, so maybe the writers are taking it in a different direction
+Derek Millar Apocalypse has enslaved many. Gambit was once a Horsemen too as was Wolverine. They even said they were originally going to make Xavier a Horsemen which was why he was taken in the first place but they changed their mind at some point.
No, she was a street rat in Cairo, the stuff with the African tribes comes later on in her origin. She doesn't actually meet the X-men until she's a full grown adult. So obviously, the movie didn't have time to got through all of that. Apocalypse calling her a "goddess" was just a subtle reference to the part of Storm's original backstory that they couldn't show in the movie.

It's not gonna be like a Jubilee cut, like the Rogue cut of Days of Future Past which included plenty of scenes with Anna Paquin, But for sure we'll get to see the scene in which she uses her powers! Anyway, I think everyone loved her on this interviews and I hope they will give her more participation in future films
