2016 Pasadena Rotary Teacher of Excellence Laura Palmer

Laura Palmer has been a teacher for 11 years, all with the Pasadena Unified School District. Her career began at Madison Elementary, and she has taught at Sierra Madre for the past seven years. She currently teaches 4th Grade Language Arts and Social Studies. Laura thoroughly enjoys teaching, especially getting to know the students and families in her class. Passing along her love of language arts (especially introducing students to her favorite books and authors) and history is a passion. For the past three years, she has taken an eager group of 4th-graders to Sacramento for a first-hand experience of California history.
Never idle over summer break, Laura's other passion is traveling the world, having visited over 20 countries and counting. Laura is truly honored to be selected by the Pasadena Rotary as a Teacher of Excellence. She accepts this award on behalf of the numerous teachers who have mentored, guided, and helped her to be the teacher she is today.
